Nice! Hopefully stack with the 'occasional' 120k points bonus offer from AMEX that some people are reporting

  • +4

I've been waiting for this to roll around again!

    Thanks @VantageXL

  • So just to confirm, I can register now and wait till my 12 months are triggered (in March till last points earnt from a credit card) and then be safe to apply and be considered as a 'New Customer'? Am I right thinking this? Thanks

    • ts&cs says you need to make first purchase on the card prior to 31 May

  • +1

Is the TL;DR signup to a credit card that earns Qantas FF points and get a bonus 20k (activation required)?

  • +1

I'm unable to see this under "my offers".

    anyone have a direct link?

    • I can’t see it either.

    • Nothing on my account. Don’t have a Qantas card nor have I ever owned one.

    • +5

I got confused as well looking under the offers page, then I realised there’s a “register” button at the bottom of ops link and that’s what registers you for the offer haha

      • Thank you!

  • wonder if they count Amex Charge card MR => QF as a previous qantas point earning activity?

    • applied a new QF branded card from NAB, first QF points credited (from credit card) on 20 Feb 2024, bonus 20k got credited today 20 Mar 2024. Not bad!

  • Do secondary cards count as earned? Was about to refer my wife to the Amex 100k card. This would be a nice little bonus. She doesn’t have any credit cards to herself but does have a secondary to my anz black.

    • +1

If she hasn’t had points credited to her QFF from a CC it’s fine

      • Thanks

        • Won't points earned by secondary cards count towards the primary card holder's account? Or is it the act of registering for a new secondary card in your name that triggers the 20k bonus?

  • Which card five 130k points?

  • +5

Good luck trying to use the points for a biz/first award.

  • +2

The 20,000 extra Qantas Points is available to new Qantas Points earning credit or charge cardholders only. Members must not have earned Qantas Points on a Qantas Points earning card into their Qantas Frequent Flyer account within the past 12 months from offer registration to be eligible<

that would exclude so many people

    • wonder if this applies only for Qantas points credit card or including Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account?

      • Curious too…

    • This is why I took a break from Qantas point credit cards and switched over to KrisFlyer miles for the last 2 years. Now that I recently cancelled my last KrisFlyer point earning card, I'm jumping back to Qantas points with this offer.

      • as they say "why not both"

        • Read the listing terms and conditions. If you held a qantas point earning card in the last 12 months, you're INELIGIBLE.

      • What were you using for KrisFlyer miles?
The options all seem pretty dull given the Amex devaluation.

        • I racked up over 400k KrisFlyer miles through Amex Explorer and Citi Prestige bonus offers.

  • +1

Just got a card 2 weeks ago :(

    • +1

Maybe if you haven't received any credit card points on your Qantas points yet, you are eligible. Register and tell us.

      • +1

Just confirming that I was on the same boat and received the bonus point last week

    • +1

Me too. I've registered anyway in hope.

I note it specifically mentions credit cards, I have had a Bankwest Transaction account with debit for 3 month that has posted points, so I don't think that'll be a problem either.

      • +3

Note: To be eligible for the extra 20,000 Qantas Points, you must be a first-time cardholder or not earned a point on a Qantas Points earning credit card in the last 12 months.

It specifically says credit card in their note, so if they try to say a transaction account voids eligibility they would have a tough time defending

  • This is probably a dumb question, but has anyone ever had luck applying for any Qantas card whilst unemployed? Good credit and good assets just no income at the moment

    • +4

How are you going to pay for the card with no income

      • Savings. For the bonus you only need to spend a few thousand

        • +2

Most of these cards have an income requirement of 75k+

        • +4

          As an ex-bank worker….

Sorry but the answer is "no/unlikely"

Not saying the banks or myself wants to be cruel to you or anything. '
Its just because under ASIC rules/law, credit provider are bound by a criteria called "responsible lending", just like a bartender needs to complete a course named "Responsible Service of Alcohol" (RSA).

That's why when BNPL started, without credit assessment, many people (users) and competitors gone crazy and controversial.

Without money inflow to approve unsecured lending (credit cards/personal loan) even with the low $500 credits, getting approval without income stream the opportunity is minimal. (Probably not with BNPL world)

If any of you are about to retire or your parents/relatives are about to retire, please please please remind them not to cancel their credit cards or at least get all their credit cards sorted/approved before they submit their resignation.

    • +3

They'll very highly likely want to see an income coming in sorry….even retirees with millions in assets struggles to get approved for credit cards

      • Yeah I thought as much, thanks. I was just wondering if anyone had managed to get through on a card (potentially with lower bonus)

  • We're experiencing some problems
We're working on fixing this, please try again now or come back later

    The website is being Ozbargained!!!

  • Any recommendations on a viable card option? I've just recently acquired an Amex velocity card so not sure if approval on an additional CC will even be possible.

  • +1

Got approved for the NAB Qantas Signature card last week and received it today. Registered for this anyway, hopefully I still get the additional points.

    • Me too. Cross your fingers.

    • Do you know if I had a nab card, but not Qantas in the last few months if I'd be eligible for bonus points (and this bonus)?

      • This offer is only for Qantas points earning credit cards.

        • Sorry meant I had a non Qantas NAB card which I cancelled, so if I got the card you have do I get the bonus Qantas points with the card?

  • Any good cards atm?

  • Does anyone know if this would work with an AMEX referral application? That would be the sweet spot.

    • Would also like to know this

  • Literally approved 3 days ago and have an appointment to verify my identity tomorrow to receive my card. Registered for this now. I wonder if i still get the points.

  • Is it better to get an Amex and transfer points to Qantas or use Qantas CC?

  • What if you were earning pts for Bankwest debit cards, never credit cards? Are you still eligible?

  • +1

FYI unless I'm mistaken, there's a separate offer for Qantas Business Rewards credit cards, for those of you who may be eligible for those. Terms look pretty similar with a 20,000 point bonus, but you need to go to a different page from the OP's.

    https://www.qantas.com/au/en/business-rewards/exclusive-offe…

  • Do you need to apply for the card through the qantas site to be eligible?

Point 5 says to make eligible spend in 30 days. Any idea how much one needs to spend?

  • -7

20k is a lot of points. Given that Qantas has a 'budget' of QFF points they can dish out, this 'deal' is essentially a large kick in the teeth for loyal/long-term QFF members; which will of course, devalue those customers' hard earned QFF points in the longer term.

In short, this 'deal' punishes loyal/long-term QFF members.

Yet another 'epic failure to read the room', Qantas.

    • how does it feel your cries are helpless?

    • It's nice to have one thing in Australia that doesn't give all the rewards to whoever's been there the longest

    • +1

Every bank and business rewards new customers better then existing ones.
      Banks: Credit card, accounts, mortgages
Insurance: never renew, get a new quote
Business: sign up or first purchase rewards

Loyalty is not rewarded at all, so you need to adapt to take advantage of all this.
Hate the game, not the player.

I was sitting on you this morning VantageXL :) very comfy, sitting on you again on QF9 on Wednesday to LHR

  • Where is the link?

  • no mention that we have to keep the card until points received?

  • how do you register?

  • +1

I activated my new Amex a few days ago. Fingers crossed that I got in before the first points transfer and get that 20k!

  • Is it possible to createba new qantas account, then once points reveived transfer to your main account?

  • How do you activate this deal if you have already gotten a credit card within the last month? Haven’t got any points form it yet and reading through the comments many are in the same boat but have ‘registered’ anyway?

    • Just activate it by following the link. Then it will display a list of cards for you to apply to. Ignore that. Finish your monthly spend and once you pay your balance, you'll get Qantas points on your account. Qantas doesn't know the order or events so you will be credited the 20k on top too.

  • I had a look and got confused. What would be the best non-Amex one (got rejected last year, perhaps due to churning habits, but I only did about 2-3 in the year)?

  • "To be eligible to receive the 20,000 extra Qantas Points, members must a) register between 12.01am (AEDT) 1 February and 11.59pm (AEDT) 29 February 2024 and receive a confirmation email to the nominated email address in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within five business days"

Applied (1 week ago) and approved prior to this date (2 days ago), although have yet to received the card. Hopefully I'll still be able to cash in on this bonus. Otherwise it'll be a bummer to miss out by a few days..

    • +1

      Yes you'll be fine.

    Anyone getting this?

    [We're experiencing some problems]

    • I managed to fix this by changing my email address and removing the home phone on my account - error went away after I did that when I tried to register again - see if it works for you!

Qantas support could not help - I've had an SR with them for 2 weeks lol

  • Anyone know if you can stack this with amex referral? So just registering through the qantas page for the 20k points but applying for the credit card via referral link?

  • It's still showing We're experiencing some problems
We're working on fixing this, please try again now or come back later.

    Anyone else having this?

    • Did it worked for you? I have tried several times since yesterday
I get the same erro - We're working on fixing this, please try again now or come back later

      • No mate, I think it's not working for me at all
I feel it's because I activated the last same offer 6 months ago but never signed up for the credit card. I feel that could be the reason.

        • +1

          • @Garbotoxin: You're such a legend 👏👏
I got it fixed by doing this ❤️

  • can this be stacked with the 120k offer for existing nab customers?

  • Hey folks. I’ve had a QFF account for a few years but never applied for a Qantas credit card or earnt any Qantas points from a credit card.

Does anyone know if I still need to create a new QFF account?

    Thanks!

    Seems like promotion has ended.

    • I just registered and got a confirmation email straight away, what makes you think it ended?

  • Did anyone get the email it says you should receive? I've tried twice and no email……

  • I was borderline unsure if I was eligible but I just received the email so do you know if it mean I am eligible?

    • The email is generic, and is worded along the lines of 'registration'. In my opinion, receiving the return email is not a guarantee that you are eligible.

    • How long did it take for you to receive the email? It's 4 days and counting for me.

  • Did this last year from Finder if not mistaken, didnt get any.
Wife is not the first timer to receive Qts pts, but definitely more than 12 months if not years, so im not sure where/who/how to follow up

    • As the promotion involves 'extra Qantas Points are offered by Qantas', I would say that Qantas are the ones to follow up with, not Finder. You should have traceability of an enrolment email with subject 'Finder exclusive for first-time cardholders (Membership # xxxxxxxxx)'.

  • Does ANZ FF Black consider as a Qantas earning card. I closed it early August. So I won’t be eligible for extra 20k points if I get a new card right?

    • Did it earn Qantas points?

  • -1

Do we need to pay $99 for registering to this deal?
    Is it worth it?
    Please advise

    • +1

If referring to joining the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, there are plenty of ways to join for free. Easiest way imo is through Woolworths' Everyday Rewards. Ref: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/qantas/how-to-join-frequent-fl…

Whether it's worth it or not - really comes down to your spending and whether you find benefit or value in these kind of rewards programs based on your spending habits and redemption goals, whether they be gift cards, free/subsidised travel, premium travel, etc.

      • Thanks for the advise, registered for free via Woolworths rewards

  • Do we need to apply for the credit card through Qantas link or can we apply for credit card through their website and when it credits points it'll automatically add the 20,000 (provided you've activated)?

    • I believe we all have the same question haha

    • +2

When I did this a couple years back, you could apply on the website separately and it still worked. Unless things have changed it should work fine

  • Will be interesting to see how this ends up stacking with the 120k Amex deal. It should result in 140k points but the terms and conditions state that there is a 130k max for new card holders so i wonder if they will cap it at that. Still awaiting the 'activation confirmed' email from Qantas.

    • I read that as the card itself can reward a max of 130k points, which would then total 150k when stacked with this

      • Could be. Hard to know with these things.

  • Fellas, anyone tell me if i sign up to one of these qantas cards. Can i use it straifht away to purcahse some tickets?

  • +1

How long after receiving first set of points from credit card do we receive the bonus 20,000 points from Qantas on top? Says up to 12 weeks, but does anyone have a more accurate idea?
