    bloody bargain six month price

  • +1

grand total to pay today $64.90

Just before putting CC details in.

You sure the deal doesn't need a code or something?

  • Didn't get this price when I tried?

  • Price error?

  • Yeah likewise.. can't get it to come down before $64.90

  • They must have fixed it as I get $64.90 when it asks for payment.

  • +1

    Is this fttn only?

  • +2

    Shows $64.90 at checkout

  • Shows $64.90 even after going through to Checkout.

    • Do you already chew FTTP? Maybe it's a promotion to get people off FTTN?

      • +1

        Yes, on FTTP

  • +3

This offer is only available to new customers that are connecting to a Tangerine nbn® service
for the first time. It is not available to customers with an existing Tangerine nbn® service or
who have previously had a Tangerine nbn® service. The offer is only available once per
    customer and per premises.

    • +1

So you can see the offer from the OP?

    • I have never been with Tangerine and never had an account with them and yet I only see $64.90.

  • +1

    Where is the screenshot?

  • How does Tangerine compare with Superloop and Aussie BB. I switched over to Spintel once from an Ozbargain deal and that was a lag nightmare!

    • +3

Customer service is terrible, portal is bad. Speeds can be okay. It’s worth a try at how cheap it is. You can also stack with referrals and review credit.

    • +6

Hit and miss. From overall experiences from everyone, it is either decent or really really bad.

I was with Tangerine. Never again. They are hands down the worse and dodgiest ISP I've ever had to deal with from their internet to their "customer service".
Non stop issues which they blame on everything but themselves. Customer service was bad and they fought with me, they fought with Telstra and they even fought with the ombudsmen.

I literally churned from Tangerine to Superloop and all the issues were gone instantly. I have never had a single issue with Superloop and I never had a single day without issues with Tangerine.

      • I was with Tangerine and it was fine, moved back to Superloop, whom I was with for 10 years prior, still fine. This is in FTTP, so YMMV.

        • Something isn’t right about your statement. Superloop will only just have existed as a company for 10 years later in 2024.

          • @ponchoau: They existed as Nuskope before that I think

            • @ESEMCE: Nuskope was acquired by Superloop in 2017. Superloop was founded in 2014 by Bevan Slattery. It didn’t exist in any form prior to that.

              • @ponchoau: As far as retail internet and public visibility is concerned, they got into the game by acquiring Nuskope.
Before that they didn't play in the retail space.

                • @ESEMCE: Yes, my point exactly. 10 years is a false statement. Being a Nuskope customer 10 years ago doesn’t make you a 10 year Superloop customer.

                  • -4

@ponchoau: Well it’s 2024 now and superloop started in 2014 so it’s roughly 10 years. You are nitpicking anyway. He obviously has had bad superloop experiences over an almost 10 year period.

          • @ponchoau: I was a Skymesh customer, whom was acquired by Superloop.

As for the length of time, I was in an NBN trial area and have had FTTP since 2011-2012.

    • +3

We are in a rural area so use wireless NBN. I switched from Tangerine to Aussie Broadband and have not regretted it. Aussie is faster and actually care about customer service.

      • +1

Concur. Aussie Broadband is a premium service, with corresponding premium price. Since I work from home a couple of days a week I am happy to pay for the excellent service they provide. After years with them I haven't had a single issue.

    • Speed and reliability fine for me.

    • I moved from superloop to exetel to tangerine for the deals. superloop was terrible along with its customer service. tangerine is alright i have 50/25 i think, will likely leave back to exetel after for the better internet

  • Full price for me

  • +1

    $64 for me

  • -3

Highly likely it was a pricing error.
Definitely not available at the price stated in this post.

  • +19

Tangerine are the worst company I've ever had to deal with.

$85 turned into $115 a month consistently because of their dodgy billing practices.

$15 late fees and $10 "bounce" fees if a direct debit fails because of a new bank card? Are you kidding me.

Don't do it. Just go with exetel or something

    • +5

Hahah…. Just go to exetel? That’s even worse or similar >.>

      • Used to be. Exetel are owned by Superloop now. But yeah, definitely better to sign up to the Superloop brand than Exetel IMO.

    • +5

$15 late fees and $10 "bounce" fees if a direct debit fails because of a new bank card?

Did you or did you not pay late? The reason why you paid late (ie. a new bank card) isn't their problem.

As for the bounce, the business probably was hit with fees. Why should they bear the expenses due to your mistake?

      • +1

Let me try to reinforce his experience from my experience with Tangerine:
        - Tangerine billing is such a messiest calculation I have ever encounter with other ISPs. I dont even know how they calculate, for example, for the $60/month, one month can be $55.XX then next month fall back to $45.XX then next month jump to $7X.XX
        - I put my Amex and I am pretty sure it always has credit for the payment, however, they cant debit or something and charged me for late payment fee, I raised the ticket and it got resolved but Tangerine dont forget to come back and said that please make sure you have sufficient credit next time as the system only allows for waiving the late fee for the first time (brah, credit is always there, it's just your system)

Waiting to move to other ISPs with promo 😁

        • You are so right about their billing. I couldn't understand how much exactly I was paying for the NBN because the bill amount changed each month and then they add GST separately, so it made it hard to track when my 6 month promotion discount was ending. I figured it out eventually and churned to Leaptel last week.

    • +2

I have been using them for years with no issues and customer service (while dumb) have been very helpful

      • dumb but helpful.. fair enough🤦‍♂️

  • +3

$44.9 is actually lower than the nbn’s wholesale price at $55? Likely to be a price error

    • -2

Such a ripoff…NBNCo's EBITDA was north of $3 billion recently…it should be run at close to cost as possible, not used to line government coffers.

      • +3

You do realise that EBITDA stands for Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation expenses?

All those expenses that reduce $3 billion to something a lot less.

If you want it run as close to cost as possible then you need to include all the costs.

        • NSS

Do you enjoy paying extortionist prices for sub-standard internet?

          • @Ham Dragon: Yes comrade, they'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

    • Companies often do loss leader promotions where they lose money in the short term….hand in your ozbargain badge immediately!

  • +6

Dont do it. I switched to these guys from a solid connection and had nothing but nightly tv buffering and bad pings. I didnt last a month. I dont think they pay for enough bandwidth. Switching away fixed it.

    • I second this experience, I tried Tangerine and always encountered buffering issues and internet would randomly drop in and out.. I stuck out my 6 month promo and have since switched to Leaptel and have found the connection very solid with no buffering issues.

      • i switched from aussiebb in sept/october i think and had the same experience. online meetings were a disaster with buffering and complete dropouts. download speeds were not great and nowhere near 100/20, random disconnects during gaming over and over…

prolly wouldn't recommend it for anything critical sure, but to be fair though, it has improved the last couple months. not sure if related to dec/jan period or not but its been much more stable and have gotten some crazy speeds. enough for me to ride out the 6month discount period.

    • Mine's totally fine.

  • +1

    I have the opposite
No issues had account issues with Aussie
I have a Asus router and dhcp takes forever to reconnect with super / Aussie
    Had frequent drop outs
Have to put out use pass in on tangerine/ more connects instantly
But honest I have had no issues rock solide with them
I have no loyalty to anyone one
With more who is tangerine cba offer 30% off for 12 mths 250/20 $81 mth

    • Spintel are doing 250/20 (or thereabouts) for $75 for the 6 months. No coupon required.

      • Interesting. How are spintel?

        • +1

Only good with Spintel if you are in Sydney where their single PoP is, unless you are happy with high latency.

        • Absolutely dogshit if you want any help.
I have an ability to exit my contract 11 months early of 12 months.
          That's how bad they are.
I am looking for a better, more suitable solution, rang Superloop yesterday and was flabergasted at the sales reply of, excuse me?
All I asked was, am I paying post or pre for your services, ie I need to know how much it will cost me out of pocket to move to you guys.

I had a bunch of massive drop outs with Spintel the day I threatened T.I.O complaint, then getting emails of Mobile bundle along side of "please give feedback of NBN Co install SPAM".
Wasn't a fun day at all.

Spintel also monitor Product Review, I left a praising review, that went 3 stars then 1.
They pmed me reaching out to assist me, what's funny is I have been asking for help off helpdesk and getting no answers.

I originally signed up for 12 months, then was told it was 6 months, then when was told my connection would churn, I had to notify previous provider, then when my FTTP was connected, was rung to be asked to cancel my FTTC plan.
None of this was explained at all to me on signup, my email has ceased working with Thunderbird and am told it's an issue on my end, yet was working fine for a month.

^^ Spintel is a total CF to put it politely.

EDIT, most important facet was me having to migrate my email from Optus to Spintel, this means 20 odd accounts, maybe more that needed to be moved over and took around a week to complete as there were issues with organizing the swaps from specific online portals.

This was a headache I never wanted to experience again, but it seems I am having to go through again.

        • Don't know I've had spintel since it was comcen in 2003

It's functional and pricing is competitive.
But in an era where everyone basically wholesales the same service

it does just fine for me

          • @cski: Sensible comment! They are all pretty much as bad or as good as each other, IMO. Churning is the key, so at least you aren't paying too much for bad service, if it is bad. Aussie and Leaptel DO seem to have pretty decent customer service though, better than others. But I mean, how often do you actually need to call them?

            • @HappyPants: Aussie has been incredible for us. We needed to get in touch with them for some plan bundling queries, altering deliver dates for some items, and due to an unscheduled outage (NBNco had a fault down the road). They have been effortless to get in touch with, and have had 5 star service.

Speeds and latency are excellent too. Just a bit shitty that they don't have better upload speeds on their gigabit plan… 50 up on a 1000 down is such a joke.

      • For full transparency, I called Excitel today to see how much it would cost and some other qs, 30 mins later I get an email from Spintel asking me if my email works as they had escalated my issue.
I tried and suddenly it was functioning again, I asked what changes tehy had done, they told me since FTTC to FTTP upgrade (both from them) that my ports had been blocked.

This is why you need to be diligent with Spintel, I got a good outcome but it was a nightmare to deal with.
The tech support seems woefully inadequate, you get what you pay for, but on a very basic level, why are my ports being blocked for email access?
The very ports they're telling me to manually put in time and time again?

I just got an email thanking me for loyalty etc etc.
No just fix your tech support level of knowledge and stop blaming your own customers for your own lack of knowledge.

^^ Everything I have experienced is a worse case scenario, I have trawled everywhere for solutions, nothing coming up but rare cases of possible port blocks.
If you want cheap NBN, be prepared to lose sleep over it.

        I am paying $86 a month after 12 months for 250 down, 22 up, in the 12 months it's $75.
I maybe lucky here too as have read some horrible stories re Spintel and experienced it 1st hand.

      Wut?..

Lot of upvotes but no one is seeing this price?

Offer does not exist, so giving it a down vote.

  • Shows $64.90 even when testing a fttn address which is eligible for fttp.
    Deal does not exist.

    Victorian residential address.

    • That was at 6:26am, it must have been a pricing error as it doesn't exist now.

      • I purchased it last night, but checked again this morning and still showed the same price. 🤷

Thanks for trying to help save us some money and letting us know. The deal seems legit for you. Well done 👍🏼

      • +1

Thanks Happy. On the order confirmation the discount shows as
"Fresh Fibre Upgrade 6 Month Promotional Pricing - first month credit $40"

  • +2

I can confirm that I see the price as OP has put up. Never been with them before

    • Try checking out

  • +5

    Doesn't work.
Also I highly recommend you go elsewhere. Had a very poor experience with those fellas.
Charging more automatically for backend issues, several daily dropouts and poor speeds. They kept blaming my equipment. Ported to exetel and zero dropouts and full speed instantly.
Read some reviews. Obviously not the paid marketing reviews that bumps up their score.

  • Can confirm price not available in my area - Sydney - never been with them. So probably pricing may be only available to select areas.

  • Unable to reproduce the deal.
Looking at OPs screenshot, deal is likely available to select premises only which are ready to upgrade from FTTN to FTTP.
Great deal for those who are eligible.

  • Can confirm i can see this price in vic, i've gone with the $65/month for the 200mb plan (For the NBN FTTP upgrade, currently on FTTC)

    • same here only choices 100 and 200 but the promotion states 250Mb ? is it a grammar error or is Vic different

      • I can only see 200 and 350?
I don't think there is 100mbps for the FTTP upgrade?

        • Not for FttC, but 100mbps is an option for FttN to FttP upgraders.

  • At 7:57am, the price shows as $64.90 when I go to the deal, then drops to $44.90 when I put my address in.

I'm on FTTP, haven't been with Tangerine before.

  • Deal not appearing. New custom at VIC address connected via HFC. Showing $64.90

    • +2

The deal states the price is for when upgrading from FTTN/FTTC to FTTP - but you're on HFC - probably why you're not seeing it?

      • Missed that, my bad.

  • Can I move from More telecom (white labeled tangerine) to tangerine as my CBA offer is about to expire from memory.

    • Yep. I did this last month - all good. They are "sister" companies I was told.

  • +2

Been with Tangerine for over a year. (No issues/Good service and support is reasonable)

  • +2

Should the title not say: $44.90 per month for 6 months? - as I read it as $44.90 for 6 months, as in 6 months for $44.90. But hey, I might just be a dope.

  • +3

Zero stars from me. Their offshore based customer service via online portal is the worst customer experience I have ever encountered by a considerable margin. Having signed up online without any human intervention I was told the reason why I wasn't entitled to a pro-rata credit (after dropping to a lower plan early in the new billing period) was a verbal agreement I had with Tangerine. A tad difficult given I had not spoken to anyone at this pitiful excuse for an ISP. Also referred two friends to Tangerine before this and was told by the customer rep that I had received a discount during the month already - he was referring to the referral credits. Good luck getting those to land in your account without pulling half your teeth out.
