    Likely due to not replacing the o rings. The new models have updated internals that don't need the orings replaced.

      How do you know if you are getting the old or new design when buying?

        Any new one you buy should be the new design. If you want to make sure check the serial number. The first 4 numbers after the 'A1BAAESA' is the year and week. Anything after 2228 (28th week of 2022) is the new design

      Don’t think they will come down anymore unfortunately - looks like all the retailers have moved to the $2,199 MRP set by Breville.

        I remain somewhat optimistic, for it was the case in December and November and on several occasions throughtout 2023. I hear what you are saying but I believe sub 9 will happen again, though not implying that's going to happen often.

    Agree :). Altho this is still a good price. I decided to get it at this price in Nov after waiting a year. I thought it would go down to 900 - and it went lower! - but I wanted to be sure after waiting so long. I'm very happy with my purchase :)

      Sure, you could wait for a sale but that's 6 months that you're using an inferior machine etc.

      It's great, just buy it
