    • Minimum income is one of the least important factors. The main one is the serviceability of the card, which includes your other commitments, unsecured loans, credit history, family etc, etc.

Yes, churning a lot of cards could be one of the reasons.

      • No cc (last active/closed one was more than 2 months ago - off of credit report), no debt besides mortgage which is nearly paid off, no dependents.

Pretty sure its the enquiries/churns (8 on record in last 2 years - one was amex qantas from almost 2 years ago…. this will drop off soon).

    • how many payslips do Amex require?

I'm tempted to get this card if the credit limit doesn't impact my borrowing capacity… my 2.19% fixed rate mortgage is expiring in 6 months' time.

    • Hi, just wondering when you say automatic rejection is it right after you hit submit? Did it immediately say its declined and not the 5-10 days notification thing?

      • No. Just says we'll get back to you in 5 to 10 days. If approved i believe your meant to see a different screen.

    • I'm same. Almost perfect credit score 850+, 1 credit card $6k limit and $100k+ salary. Denied instantly by system.

Have never been denied from credit cards but had 4 in last year from churning. Sounds like amex don't like churners anymore.

  • How long does it take for the referral points to hit the account of the referee? My card is up for renewal next month and I'm planning to cancel. Could potentially refer my partner for a new card and that way the points credited between the both of us would be 200k + 45k.

I'm holding out for the 300k+ points offer but might bite if I can avail the 45k point referral before I cancel my card next month.

  • my friend just got 275k bonus points (instead of 200k) on his side, ymmv ofc

    • How?

      • just opening the referral link as usual, may take multiple refreshes? or perhaps try again in a few hours

The annual fee does look high but it's very easy to get your money's worth.

I have family in Vietnam and go back to visit at least once a year, sometimes intentionally booking flights with 18+ hr layovers in Singapore or Hong Kong so I can stay a night or two using the Accor Plus benefit. The lounge access entitles you to bring 1 or 2 guests for free depending on which lounge collection and you can get back about $700 worth of lounge passes in a return trip with 2 guests. Combined with the complimentary night's stay at higher end hotel like Sofitel Sentosa which usually costs around $450 + $450 flight credit + $200 restaurant credit means you can get your annual fee's worth in a single international trip.

Then back home you get another $200 dining credit at what many would consider some pretty top choice restaurants in Melbourne.

QFF point conversion is decent considering it's uncapped (1.125pts/$AUD on domestic spending, only 3 cards have higher domestic earning rate and all of them have caps)

    • thank you for sharing.
May I ask for the lounge pass, Can I use it if I fly with Jetstar these kinds of cheap flight?
And if I travel with family 2 x Adults and 2 x Kids, is that easy to find the lounge to let us all in?

      • +1

There are two priority pass memberships per account. They are only accepted at the lounges not restaurants. So yes a family of four can get in to these and some other’s regardless of flown. Meaning you will have lounge access in majority of airports in the world.
Others are airline specific and may only allow one or two people. This card is my favourite, but remember it’s a charge card not a credit card. (Pay off in full each month)
This link lets you check what lounges you would have access to: https://global.americanexpress.com/lounge-access/the-platinu…

  • I got rejected once last year. This time I applied with 85k salary and 75k with my partner, still no reply!

    • +1

From my understanding, you're meant to get an instant approval as part of application. If you ended up on the we'll get back to you 5 to 10 days, your pretty much rejected by their systems. Expect a letter in the 5 to 10 days.

I dont even think a person looks at the application for this card either, whereas for a credit card I believe someone has to take a look due to credit lending criteria (ie actually validate payslips/income etc)?

  • "To be eligible for the bonus points, you must not have held a card issued by Amex Australia in the last 18 months."

Does this apply if I am an additional cardholder?

    • +1

Additional cardholders are still eligible for the bonus

  • 275k is floating around. It's the one my card offers people.

Not allowed to share it apparently based on forum rules but its real and works

    • Hi, I agree that the 275k points are available on the latest offer

    • Can u pm me :)

    • +1

can confirm mine is also showing 275k - I'm not sure how they're targeting which referral links have the increased points bonus

  • Not as attractive as American Express Velocity Platinum since the dropped conversion rate to krisflyer from 2:1 to 3:1. Even the earn rate per $ is better with the Velocity Platinum card with $375 pa fee.

    • Earn rate for Velocity Platinum is 1.25 points per dollar, this one is 2.25 points?

Sorry, misread - it’s 1.25 velocity points, so I guess if you’re transferring, it’s worse!

Has anyone received point for extending the credit card?

    • +1

Valid question. They used to offer a long long time ago, not so much these days. Have a + to offset the neg vote

      • I tried over the phone but was told they don't do this any more.

  • Fingers crossed for a good explorer card bonus

  • Aren't the MR conversations 3:1 now for airlines? Or was that for the other cards except for the charge?

    • 3:1 is for conversions to Krisflyer and the Etihad program.

  • I just applied for this and it was far too easy. Took all of 5 minutes. First credit card.

Received an initial email saying they will get back within 5-10 working days and then another email with an approval.

    • How long did it take you to get second email.

  • +1

Approval process is surprisingly… little? You just fill in you details/ID. Put in your yearly salary. I was expecting another page asking for payslip or some upload. Nope.

  • has anyone recently had success double dipping the $450 Travel Credit? My anniversary day has come up and a new travel credit is available for use. I was thinking of using it and then cancelling before my AF posts, but I have read stories of others saying once used the AF gets charged and becomes non-refundable…

    • Applied for this card last year, and did enquire through live chat on how to avoid getting charged the renewal. They mentioned as long as I cancel before Feb, but they also mentioned if I used any of my benefits (travel/dining credit), the annual fee will automatically charge, so I think what you heard is right.

  • Yup can confirm my better half's referral is at 275k, so it's more than the 200k mentioned in the title.

    • Hi, Could you share the link? thanks

  • For those that have been approved for the Platinum Charge card - does AMEX issue you a digital card that you start using straight away online? Or do you have to wait for the physical card to arrive in the post?

    Thanks in advance.

    • +1

No, however my Platinum Charge was delivered by DHL one to two days after approval, so I didn't have to wait long.

  • 275k here too

  • I can only see 200k today with or without referral link :(

    • +1

Should still be 275k, maybe try a different browser? You'll probably need to cycle through until you hit the right link.

  • I got the 275k too, spend $5k within 3 months is the same as well

    • Are you able to PM me your link?

  • I got the 275k referral as well, seems like it was boosted recently

  • Keen for a 275k referral please 🥺

  • Would love a 275k referral too!

  • We just travelled and love this card. You can get $800 food credit as the $400 resets at new year. Our trip was over new year so we got 4 meals out, 2 in Australia, one in NYC and one in Paris. Also great when car rentals want to hold a chunk of money as a deposit. Getting an additional card holder gives you 2 priority pass cards and entrance to the Amex lounges. Both can bring a guest. So you can get 4 people in the lounge. Rex lounge didn’t count the kids, so when we left there was 7 of us on the lounge having a drink.

    • For lounge access is way more than that
one primary card can add 4 additional cards
each card usually can bring 2 guests to lounge (eg. Plaza Premium or Amex centurion lounge)

So 1 primary + 4 additional can potentially bring 15 people (including card holders) to lounge at a single time lol

      • Fun!

  • +1

Tried about 50 times on the referral link, always get 200K not 275K

    • Had my luck to get 275K :)

  • +1

Thanks! Kept trying the referral link and eventually got the 275k. The sign up and approval process was scarily quick.

  • Can someone share referral link for "American Express Platinum Business Card" .

  • applied few days ago, was processing.
Called them today they say application manually rejected
reasons will be stated in the letter.
    I have 2 mortgages on a credit file though…
    pity got rejected ))

  • Wheres my points? Got the card at the start of feb

    • You get the bonus points as soon as you meet minimum spend.
