This has the same movement as the Mako which is currently $208.90 - black or blue with a SS bracelet.

So you're paying $100 more for sapphire & a slightly different design.

Why not solar? Look for below when they're on special.

    Citizen BN0150-28E
    Or
    Seiko SNE573P

    • Because people appreciate the engineering that goes into an automatic watch.

solar is just quartz with extra steps

        • And a mechanical is less steps?

See my response below. I'm not hating on mechanical.

Whoa, I didn't realise I'd get so many people upset. To give some context, I've been a watch fan my whole life. I have a bunch of watches, some auto, some kinetic, some solar, some quartz.

I think many people don't realise that automatic watches are a labour of love. For people buying this as their first watch (everyday wear) , it would make more sense to go solar/quartz imo.

Saying that, to each their own. But for this money and end of the market one of the watches I recommended would be far more practical for the average person.

Of course if you're after something mechanical and understand:

        1. that it'll be losing ±40secs per day
        2. You have to keep wearing it as the spring only holds charge for a couple days Max (40hrs)
        3. Can't be used in rough environments (where vibration can wreck the watch)
        4. Requires regular servicing for the life of the watch

….. then this isn't necessarily a bad deal.

        • I mean I think people buying automatics know the pros and cons already…..
I don't think anyone would argue that automatics are more practical than quartz or solar. But again, automatics have an allure to them. Prestige. They are potentially heirloom items that can be handed down through generations. And you're always going to be able to get parts.

Also, I do believe that you have exaggerated a few of your points. ±40 seconds is definitely at the extreme end. Even the $200 Orient that went up yesterday has a Caliber F6922 in it, rated to -15 to +25 (and most people report somewhere in the region of 6 or 7 seconds).

Servicing is recommended about every 5-7 years.

@ASR-Briggs: tldr to everyone… we all have more watches than we realistically need

            no one fucc'in cares

            buy what you want

  • citizen watch don't provide parts for eco-drive after certain time

suspect seiko solar would do the same forcing people to buy new model
