  • It’s a beautiful little diver in the Pepsi colour way. I was never fully on board with the 22mm lugs so moved it on a couple of years back. Would definitely look sleeker with 20mm.

    • Still looks a bit big to me. Nice though

Checking everyday for the purple Orient Mako 40 on Amazon. They have the white and black models for $350 which seems to be a great price.

    • the link would be a great benefit to your post.

    • there is no purple .. do you mean the lilac?

  • +6

A better quality photo showing more detail including the sunburst dial. Amazon watch photos are always junk.

    • Smart looking watch, looks a lot more than a couple hundred bucks.

  • Hoping the red dial goes at this price

  • Got excited there for a moment thinking it was a kamasu V2. Biscuits…

  • Didn’t grab the Pepsi Fugu the other day (because it had the old movement without hacking). I think the universe is trying to tell me something….

    • +1

I think it would look good on you.

    • Yes , if you already own a watch dont buy another !

      • +1

Oh dang, I've really stuffed up then……

  • According to Camels these were ~$1300 at some point?

    Whats the deal here?
    Are these decent watches?

Are they supposed to be a copy of another more expensive watch?

    • +2

It’s Orient, it’s more than decent. You’re safe. These are great value watches especially at this price.

Camel does not track Amazon JP prices, only AU. Amazon JP was only available in AU a few months ago. So those prices must be other reseller. To see the historical price in Amazon JP, use Keepa.

They're under seiko Epson group , yes They're a reputable brand.

reminds me of the 007 watch from goldeneye

I've gotten the Orient Kamasu Mako III Version and its definitely worth it for the money, the case is very nice and good value. Only thing is the strap is more on the cheaper side, which you can always replace

    • do you recommend any particular straps?

      • +2

Check out the MiLTAT stainless steel watch bands for the Kamasu.

    • The Komasu and Mako are different lines, no? This one is a Mako II

this is so much cheaper then my rolex. i think i will use this as my new beater. my skx pepsi seiko is my current beater, but too valuable now. need a cheaper beater.

    • +1

      Skx prices are stupidly inflated.

      • +1

My skx007 has been my daily beater for the last five years, had no idea I was walking around with such an expensive watch given how much people are paying for them.

        • Yep it's not a daily beater anymore. Better buy another watch, lol. The Steeldive SD1970 is my replacement.

          • @WatchNerd: My SKX007 will remain my daily beater, I’m not worried about breaking it

      • If you don’t mind me asking, how inflated are we talking? I see heaps of preowned ones for sale on the forums in the USD$160-220 range. Some sellers are asking for USD$450 for new examples, but I don’t think they’re actually selling for that much.

        • At least $500aud, eBay sales look closer to $1,000aud for Australian stock.

        • Just do a completed sold item search on eBay.

$1k+ for NOS is not uncommon.

$300-$600 for second hand depending on condition and original full set.

I don't follow the skx market closely. It's just what I've observed in passing.

    • but the Orient won't get such a Hugh G Reaction as the Rolex.

    • -1

lol are you seriously too scared to wear your watches?

  • -1

Can the orient face be changed to a Rolex if there's such a thing

    • +3

Not sure why you'd do that to an Orient. If you want something that looks like a Rolex just grab this Addiesdive quartz while it's got US$3 off.

Final price is US$30.52 (~AU$46.00) delivered. I didn't neg you by the way.

      • +1

        This is the Way!

      • i like this, but does this have a sweeping hand like the bulova quartz? if not, do they have an automatic version?

  • How does this compare to the fugu? Also i notice the model on number is SAA02009D3 yet the model number on orients sute watchnerd linked seems to be different, us it the same watch?

    Love your work watchNerd. Thanks

Late to this (saw on moring newsletter) because I didn't get notification at post time.
    Missing watch tag!

  • Don't know if anyone will be checking this thread again, but I just received my Mako II and the chapter ring is horribly misaligned. I am regretfully sending it back, because it is an otherwise stunning watch.
