Historic low price. I almost pulled the trigger when it was $149 aon ebay.

    • +4

I don't know if you can call it historic.

It's certainly a historical low though.

    • Please do not pull the trigger John you have so much to live for

  • +3

Also same price at Harvey Norman

@cmyk: When my grandkids ask me what I did in the great consumer war of the early 21st century, I'll be able to tell them with pride that I did my bit and never shopped at Harvey Norman

        C.f. Bezos?

  • Looking at these prices, is Brother the new Lexmark now?

  • Do generic toner work with this, can't see any compatible on eBay

    • +1

Yeah they do. Toner is cheap for that things. I love my Brother.

      • +1

Show the compatible toner for this model on eBay.

        • +1

apologies, going by the comment below, this particular model doesnt have the generic toner option.I would definitely avoid.

      • +1

        Is that you sis…….

        • Nice

        • Help me Step-Bro paper's stuck

  • +1

Cheers, I was looking at these recently.

But considering the price of toner is almost the cost of a printer, it's probably worth buying a few printers as spares!

    • +4

considering the price of toner is almost the cost of a printer,

      Just buy compatible.

      • Would love to. Link please? I've been searching.

        • Are you using this model of printer? Because this one is new, I was thinking you have an older model wants to buy a new printer instead of just buy compatible toner.

          • @superforever: I've bought the printer. I'll need toner in the future. And I'm hoping that I won't have to pay $100 for toner.

            • @realJuliusCaesar:

And I'm hoping that I won't have to pay $100 for toner.

Not sure about this Brother printer, hope you can get compatible in the future, not like HP blocking people to use compatible.

              • @superforever: Yep, after doing a bit of research it seems that this range of printers was launched in November 2023. So the aftermarket options are probably on their way. (No reply necessary. You reply very quickly, I'd rather you spent a bit of time making your answers more useful :))

                • -3

@realJuliusCaesar: Because this is quite a new printer I didn't expect you are using it now and looking for compatible toner.

                  • @superforever: Fair enough. Sometimes you come across people who research these things before making a purchase. Sorry if I'm the first one you have come across.

    • +2

Where are you getting this idea from? My last toner cartridge cost $17.80 from Aussie Toner on Ebay and has been going strong for ages.

Brother Wireless Mono Laser MFC Printer MFC-L2750DW

      • +6

This printer is new, no 3rd party toners available as far as I can see, only generic.

        • +1

Damn, if that's the case it sucks.

        • Doesn't it just use TN2350 toner? plenty of aftermarket options for it.

          • +2

@yippy: No, TN2530. Swap a couple of digits and suddenly there are no aftermarket options.

            • +2

@realJuliusCaesar: Cheers @Trillian. It seems this range of printers was launched November 2023 which explains why there are no aftermarket options. I suppose it's safe to assume they will be available a little bit later.

Dang! Just bought from the centrecom $140 deal a few days ago…an ozbargainers nightmare….

    • same… should have waited!

  • Duplex as well

    • +1

Almost all printers do duplex printing these days, auto duplex scanning is the one to look out for on compatible models.

  • You know it's getting to point you would buy a new printer which comes with less page toner than actual genuine toner cartridge whbe you run out of toner

  • -1

Is there non ebay aftermarket toners?

    • Somone above said, nope πŸ˜‚

    • I think this printer is quite new, maybe later but I am not sure.

  • I ordered one, but cancelled after reading that no aftermarket toners are compatible

    • +1

There will probably be compatibles in a few months. It is a very new model.

      • Thanks, uncancelled the order via chat.
Read the other messages about the printer being new and hence no after market toners available yet

An deals for the colour version of Brother laser printers?

    • Buy second hand. Gumtree/FB are full of them.

I got a near-new MFC, full duplex (both printing and scanning), colour laser for about $100.

      • Thanks. I’ll have a look

      • Picked up a:
        Brother HL-L3270CDW for $70
perfect condition however needs new ink cartridge.
        Any recommendation for cartridges.
Ive found some for $45 to $110

        • Sorry, no idea about that model. I usually buy the cheapest from eBay after looking at the seller's review history.

  • +3

A Brother laser printer is the right printer for 99% of people tbh

    • for such a scammy industry Brother is the one that gets things right. Screw HP

      • They also want you to buy their cartridges πŸ˜‚

  • +4

these things last forever man. My sister's husband had one lying around for 10 years that he was about to throw out. I asked to check if it still worked and he said it wouldn't print because of low toner. Found a hack on youtube where you put a tape over the sensor that detects the ink and voila it started printing again. It printed my university stuff for another two years before needing an actual replacement. I purchased the replacement cartridge on ebay for like $15 that lasted 4-5 years.

  • +1

no one makes a better basic mono laser, period

  • Is it worth buying if I print less than 10 pages per year?
I'm worried the toner might dry up due to lack of use.

    • +4

      Toners dont dry up

    • +1

      just print it at work

    • +1

I have the same use, but, when I want to print I'll have to wait until I goto work next πŸ˜‚

That wait kills me, sometimes I go beg officeworks and Australia post. This is for those moments.

      • The deal ran out before I could purchase. Probably a good thing as I don't really need a printer at home all too often, but the convenience factor makes it desirable when I need to print out the odd page or two.

        • Always have one at home if you WFH, or sell stuff online eBay, etc

Plus if you have kids who would love to color stuff lol

        • Just go to OfficeWorks and print if you print less than 10 pages a year. You still need to buy paper and due to being a newer model, it costs more than the all time low for the previous model ($99).

However, if you do print more than 10 a year, then a printer might be worth considering.

  • I liked Brother because it's very easy to do soft-reset, no need to replace chip on the cartridge. I am not sure if this model continues with that traddition.

  • Great post! Waiting for it to get back into stock hopefully otherwise will try to match HN against the Good Guys 🀞

  • +1

Mine just arrived and I did a few prints for my kids, absolute pleasure printing at home :D

  • +3

    Back in stock at $110.92

    • +1

      Cheers! Grabbed one!

  • Thanks OP Source.
Just set it up, hint if firmware doesn't update, update software first.
I'm a little concerned as to whether a generic cartridge will become available, although 1500 print pages from initial cartridge should last me a year or 2.

Perhaps if/when someone finds a generic whey would post here? Bookmarking this page.
