What is the life span or expiration?

Edit: found it in the pdf doc - 5 Year Shelf Life

    • +4

Says on the packaging that it lasts up to five years. Keen to see if the quality would hold up in that period.

      • Says it will sustain an average adult 10 Days. Food looks like rice etc

    • As in use by or best before?

    • +1

the world isnt ending in 5 years

      • +7

        WEST TAIWAN entered the chat..

      • +5

have you not seen that documentary last of us?

  • +18

Or just buy some water bottles and instant noodles/canned goods and save $100.

    • +7

$30 2kg tub of Magi gravy powder - shelf life of infinity years.
      $50 25kg rice - shelf life 2-10 years.
      Bear Grylls the water.

      • +1

Who in their right mind eats rice and gravy?

Or is the gravy for the zombie flesh you'll eat?

        • +7

Everybody knows it's Deb and Gravy.

          Can eat it.

          Use it to repair walls.

As mortar to build your Mash potato Mansion.

And roll it into balls and dry it out to arm your trebuchet to destroy the French.

          • @Telios: Hahahaha, JESUS, that's a lot of uses. I still eat glue so this is tempting..

Why does deb ring a bell though. Isn't that what we called fake mashed potato when we were kids or something?

            • @WasBargain: It's a brand name of instant mashed potato

              • @Chuckler: Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. 😅 It's absolutely horrendous. I think I was fed this at school camp. Never again.

            • +1

@WasBargain: Do you ever spice it up and use other religions in your comments?

      • +2

I'd like you on my end times team.

I accidentally ate a 4 year old can of beetroot the other day and nearly spewed. I rang Golden Circle and they said they recommend a 3 year shelf life for their canned goods (it had no use by date on it)

      • +15

You're supposed to take the beetroot out and not eat the can.

They should really put those instructions on the packaging

    • -1

      Yes.

  • +3

    Awesome.
There's next months meals sorted. Though might become a bit backed up after it all.

  • How is this a bargain? This is more expensive than it is in store or has it gone up in price?

    • +2

Got some examples with a 5 year shelf life?

      • +2

*Up to 5 Years lol, Australian heat and humidity can ruin anything early. It is just dried foodstuffs (rice, oats, dried fruit etc.), you can buy it all off the shelf for less. You can also just eat it and rotate new stock in before 5 years.

        • +1

This. If you think the world is ending just keep your pantry full and keep a few bags of rice / lentils / whatever for rotation.

      • -1

I ate 15 year old baked beans a few months ago.
        They were perfectly fine.

  • Probably cheaper and better than jim Bakkers alternative.

Buy multiple units and use as furnture

  • You do need boiling water (according to instructions) to prep the meals. So you’d need a fire going or a cartridge gas camping stove

  • +2

Buy cans veg/meat/fruit/spaghetti, at least 10 yrs shelf life if stored properly and much more convenient.

    • Exactly!

Doomsday Preppers and other fellow bunker enthusiasts… stock up now!

  • I wonder if Gordon Ramsay approves of this

Just join the army and steal all the MRE's?

  • +1
    • Inflation is now a deal!

    • its probably still that price in store. $10 difference for shipping?

  • +1

Why doesn't it contain toilet paper? If covid panic buyers taught me anything, you don't need food, you need TP!

  • just in time for global cyber & terrorist attacks!

  • So we're America now, doomsday (profanity)?

  • Now $99 at Ringwood Costco
