Says "awaiting stock", which knowing DigiDirect means that it won't be coming any time soon.

    • +1

Yeah if even DigiDirect admits they don't have it in stock, then they probably don't even know if another production run will ever happen lol

      • +2

so basically is OOS! they just grep your cash in advance & ends up nothing for you then painful refund process …

  • +5

Burnt with digidirect online before. Your order will be waiting for stock for a while before fulfilment. Avoid and buy in store if possible

  • +2

That processor in a 14” chassis is going to lift up like a drone. And the noise.

I have the same with i5 and it feels like it’s going to lift like a thermal gun.

Edit: Also, the RAM is soldered.

Just setup one of these yesterday at work as I recommended it as a purchase for a team member. They were 1198 at Harvey Norman during their boxing day sales which ended on Tuesday. Unfortunately back up to 1298 although during the sales it was listed with a $600 saving. https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-swift-go-14-inch-i7-137…

Build quality/Screen etc seem really good from the time I used it. Decent port selection too.

    Beast CPU too

    • +5

Beast in power consumption, heat and fan noise

      • +2

Yes I can confirm the fan did spin up a bit running windows updates. Other than that I did not do any intensive processing on it yesterday. For normal browsing and email I didnt hear the fan at all.

        • Isn’t it an overkill for browsing and email tasks?

      • Should have plenty of headroom to set a custom power management profile.

  • +1

Is this the one with the oled screen which has all the small dots on it from the digitiser?

    • Thats touch screen version

  • anywhere to see one of these in person? would JB have them on display?

  • They are very slow with shipping, you might have to wait a few months to get it

  • +2
    • Is it gonna go down to that price anytime soon?

      • -2

nope, and no idea if this model will even be active by next black friday. its $1298 atm and in stock, if it was me i would just eat the $200 ATL difference and buy it then wait for potentially nothing.

  • How does this compare with the Ryzen 7 Version from OW? Better for general use but worse for more graphic intense applications?

    • Ryzen is a much more efficient processor so the battery should last longer and the laptop won't get as hot and loud. Also it will most likely have better performance when running on battery power

    • The Ryzen also has 780m which is much much better for games

I bought the 13500H/8GB version of this for my younger brother as a christmas present.
The bottom of the laptop gets hot. Even with all the settings and modifications to maximize battery saving, it still gets hot at the bottom. The 13700H version is 100% guaranteed to be even hotter.
Not recommended if you put the laptop on your lap, and if you do, it would be advisable to buy a $5 underpad off ebay.
I would recommend getting a Zen 4 version when it goes on discount again unless you really need Intel for whatever reason.

    • There is a Ryzen model of this one on Officeworks and it is the same price as the Intel i7 Oled model. There is also an Intel i7 touchscreen version as well however the screen isn't Oled. I have heard the build quality and fan sucks in Acer, so I decided to splurge a bit and bought the HP Pavilion Plus for $1350 which has a better fan, battery life and build quality based off reviews. I haven't tested the product yet. The HP Pavilion Plus was on discount for $1429 from $2200 but managed to get it to $1350 with a free laptop sleeve. The Boxing Day promotion ended yesterday unfortunately.

    • I got the i7. Gets a bit toasty but it’s not that bad on the lap.

    E-Waste chassis.

It's a thin layer of metal covering plastic. The metal is so thin, if you lift the laptop by the middle right hand side, the metal collides with the fans and makes a screeching noise. That cannot be good for its longevity.

There is a single fan. It is loud and on all the time. It is not sufficient to dissipate all the heat the 10nm processor emits. This means it will thermal throttle after about 10 seconds of usage.

The speakers are bottom facing and awful. Your $100 android phone has a better speaker than this.

Buyers beware that this gets very toasty, battery life is also very shoddy on the i7 variant with just 4-5 hours of normal usage i.e. web browsing, word, excel, one-note with power saver on and 60hz (quoted to me by officeworks employee who has bought and returned the same device). Pointing this out as ppl may want to buy this for university/high school as it starts, I would advise to look at this instore at OW as they have a display piece in some stores and the fan is quite loud even at idle.

This is also not an all time low (slightly misleading by OP) as indicated by the link below where it was just $1098:

A review of this device so you can make a more informed purchase as this is still good spec's (Oled, 90hz, i7 etc.) but the trade off's are big and I'd personally avoid Digidirect maybe price match at OW and if you can wait for AMD ryzen powered more efficient computers with better thermals and better battery etc.

I have the Ryzen 5 version it’s super quiet and doesn’t go hot. After seeing all the complaints of the intel version, I recommend getting the Ryzen versions from officeworks. The laptop screen is beautiful and battery life has been solid for me, very happy with this laptop.

Also got the ryzen 7 7840u version of this and have no issues with built quality or heating issues some of the above posters are claiming.

  • I purchased this during Cyber Monday sales from Bing Lee - $900.06 (cashback + $10 voucher for delivery refund) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816650.

It was also a back order like this deal. I haven't received my order yet and after asking staff for an ETA, I was told it depends on when the port strike ends. Guessing DigiDirect are OOS and ETA is the same.

  • Does this great up to ridiculous temperatures
