Acer Swift Go 14-inch i7-13700H/16GB/512GB - Grey $1098 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

First time poster:

Although the title dosnt specify OLED but the specs tab on the link suggest that this is the 2880 x 1800 OLED version.

$100 cheaper than the very popular Ryzen 7 deal at office works (please comment if there are any gift card deals available as I am not very familiar with those)

Personally I prefer Ryzen laptops for superior iGPU and efficiency but i7 laptops should have much better resale value from experience.

  • The specifications tab does say OLED.

How family are you with the gift card deals?

    • updated :(

  • Not bad price, I do wonder how a 13700h is going to go thermally in a think and light Acer laptop

  • Intel chip and the notorious Acer thermal design, just perfect to burn your house this summer.

    • given there are two small fans on these and no GPU I don't think this would be as much of an issue

      • You underestimated Intel chips. If you just do media consumer stuff then it is totally fine, even better than AMD. But in that case you would have better bought another laptop anyway. In the demanding tasks that you need this i7 chip for, it will burn through those tiny fans and throttle down to a turtle.

I think the 13500H/8GB ram version for $800-$898 or the 7640U version at Officeworks for $997 are the better value options. 13500H will run cooler than a 13700H, and while 8GB ram isn't much, and OLED panel laptop is better for content consumption rather than productivity.

If you need performance for production tasks, you shouldn't be buying Acer. You should also avoid buying consumer-grade HP/Lenovo/Dell for that matter.

    • I received the Ryzen 7 version today, so although I chose AMD, I still think the i7 is a better value due to resale.

I know not everyone does this but if they did, I am pretty confident that if you are to sell this 6 months down to track, it would be quite easy to get $1000 off the used market. That is 6 months of use for $100

Ryzens and i5's would have a much harder time as they don't have as much appeal to the general audience

  • Personally rather amd anyday . Any hunter recommendationed deals on a 17" ? Mine doesn't travel

Not necessarily equivalent but is this deal or Lenovo E16 better value?
Mainly using it as a desktop replacement for work and leisure (no gaming). Just want it to be efficient and be able to run heaps of tabs at the same time without too much lag.
