Same price at Bunnings, much cheaper at Costco iirc.

Recently saw these scent bead things advertised and so look into them.

Not trying to tell you not to buy them, but might be worth checking out the reviews on them first.
There's plenty out there stating thing like this:
    https://www.housedigest.com/1355137/dont-use-laundry-scent-b…

    • Wow I didn’t know. I have a bottle in the cupboard but I don’t use it as I thought it didn’t do anything noticeable when I washed once with them. I wonder also if it’s like the shower body washes that have those micro beads in them apparently they’re really bad for the environment

      • No sure tbh.

I get these ads regularly (probs my US set VPN) and I see they have

        Regular wash
        Scent free- for allergies
Scent beads- but nit for thise with allergies.

Thus thought to myself.. Is this a good thing.

Think I also saw that one of the ingredients was Febreeze (which does kill odours).

      • Out of curiosity, which shower gels have those micro beads?

That article seems like a whole lot of hogwash.

These definitely won't harm your washing machine and dissolve completely, unlike some washing powders. If undissolved washing powder damages you're washing machine, then you have a shit washing machine to begin with.

If you have sensitive skin, yeah then don't use perfumes, but you'd probably want to use the sensitive washing detergent to start with

A couple of years ago, my son started complaining of “burning” mouth and I had an irritated nose every time I wore a freshly washed t-shirt(to be fair, it smelled very nice). Also, my 2 yo nephew(back then) once developed red rings/hives on his back and legs. It was all due to misuse of this product. Please use it in moderation.

Please reread my comment. I didnt claim it was good.

Is this your belief or do you have something other than your own confirmation biases to support that¿

Although that is true, dows it really hurt to show awareness to those that may not already be aware of that¿ A parent with a child that suddenky develops a rash¿ Not sure exactly what caused it yet.

I myself was diagnosed, by a shit doctor at the time, of having tinea as a young boy, and was consequently told by my father that you get tinea from not being a clean person. Ironically the tinea cream that was prescribed flared up my Dermatitis up worse. Later my Grandmother called bs on that diagnosis and took me to her GP, and I was diagnosed correctly.

Another time we had a teen rock up to ED with a severe rash over her entire body, except where her bikini covered. Low and behold it Ends up she was allergic to something in the brand of sunscrean she had applied. Not the first time she had applied sunscreen before, butbthe firat time she had such a reaction.

This product claims to keep your clothes smelling good for weeks. Even the advert shows them pull their dirty clothes from the laundry basket, smell them and smile and say that they still smell fresh. Like seriously.. That was my incling that this was abnormal, and lokked it up.

Does it give you the right to try and discredit my comment here just becuase you say so. Hell no.

So please think more before making such assumptions like this. In fact your whole comment comes across as derogative rather that just refutive.

Mate these dissolve completely, how would they harm your washing machine? That's what your article is suggesting. I've used them for years, have you used them before or are just going off a generic article?

It's perfume, some people are allergic.

Some people get rashes from the aldi washing powder, from softener, etc. do we need to do a PSA for every single product then?

@TEER3X: Wow. You just dont get how you come across here. Do you.

maybe a better website like from:

            https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleani…

And how about one to refute your attempt to make me look silly that 'if you have sensitive skin..' tiraid:

            https://www.stain-removal-101.com/downy-unstopables-allergic…

There is even a website where you can file a complaint against this company:
            https://donotpay.com/learn/downy-unstopables-complaints/

and finally from someone who was involved in the manufacture of these scent beads:

"The polyethylene glycol for products similar to these scent beads. These are high molecular weight chains - long enough to be solid at room temperature. I suppose it could be synthesized from sugar but the base ingredients are made from good old fashioned oil derivatives.

I actually avoid using these things myself because the polyethylene glycol solidifies so easily. I’d hate to think what they would do to my washing machine. If I were to use these - I’d only use a few beads and be sure to use hot water.

I don’t have any concerns about the underlying chemistry. Oddly enough, this is the same polymer structure used in Miralax for bowel movements (except in this use it’s much higher molecular weight)."

            Cmon dude..
Unless you have something of value to add here other than your opinion, can you just move on.

These smell so damn good but ridiculously overpriced considering they do nothing useful. You also need to use at least half a cup each time for it to be noticeable beyond taking the clean clothes out of the machine. The fact that they don't list the actual ingredients (perfume carrier is the first ing.) isn't a good sign and neither is the fact they cannot be put into the dryer but are supposedly safe for the washing machine??

    • What! cannot be put into the dryer? That's no good.

I use a Japanese brand and only need less than a teaspoon for each wash.

          Got a name/link?

        • I’d like to know the brand name and link too pls

You definitely don't need half a cup

    • I only use about a tablespoon for a large load.

did OP just sign up to post a deal on Unstopables and then yeet outta here. lol rip.

  • I've used these over the years (the blue one though, this one smells too feminine) haven't had an issue with them dissolving or leaving marks on clothes. For a front loader you chuck a small amount in the drum, like 1/3 of the lid or less before you put your clothes in. For top loaders it would probably be better to dissolve them in water before adding to the wash if your concerned. You don't add these into the detergent dispenser,

I only use them when I've bought a detergent I dislike the scent of.
