I only ever use Mayver's but I guess it's time to try Pic's…

    • +6

Pic's has a richer, more intense roasted nut flavour. Mayver's tastes a bit more watered-down and diluted and their consistency tends to be a lot less thicker compared to Pic's as well (especially Pic's Crunchy).

      • +4

100% agree, Mayver's is like slop compared to pic's.

      • +4

True however we have play the cycle of getting whichever half price. Anything is better than Bequ

I just bought a bunch of Pics and I'm finding them a bit too dry… I never thought I'd want an oiler pb but it turns out I do..

      • What was the mixed nut spread with 100% nuts, no vegetable oil?

    • Mayver's Peanut Butter haven't been discounted to half price for some times.

Just bought Pic's Crunchy as I've run out of my stock of Mayver's Dark Crunchy I bought in April 2024. Should have got more than 15 jars, but I didn't expect the 50% OFF cycle to stop. Wanted to have fresh stock replenished during regular sales (well - not any more!).

My first impression was it is bit dryer and thicker compared to Mayver's. It was more difficult to stir inside the new jar, as the content is up to the rim.
Taste wise it is very similar, but I have to say I prefer Mayver's Dark Crunchy. It is probably what I'm used to now. However, I will stock up on Pic's, as it is very close in taste, and Mayver's only goes down to 30% off occasionally. At this price, Pic's is good enough for me. Thanks OP.

Yea I was wondering if I had just missed their 1/2 off sales somehow, but it sounds like they have just stopped offering them. If Pic's is offering, I guess I like Pic's now…

  • These are pretty good, as in healthy, because the sugar content are very low. Very nutty taste…

Got this one for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I reckon they’re better than mayvers.

  • I loved peanut butter for most of my life but unfortunately can no longer eat it. Just bizarre.

Fix n Fog for me, complete convert

    • Love Fix & Fogg crunchy.

    • Love them too. Never seen them on sale though. Are they ever on sale?

      • Yes, they go half price at Wollies now and then

        • Thanks, will keep monitoring Woolies pricing.

      • +1

Probably about 40% off every few months at Woolworths.

      • Yeah, I grab 5 or so when I see they’re half price and my supplies are running low.

Definitely my go to. Seems to retain its consistency better as you get through the jar (as opposed to Mayvers).

        • Nice! When was the last time it was on sale? Just trying to predict the next time it might go on sale 😁

          • +1

@ganjadeals: Can’t remember. Would be handy if Woolies let you search your purchase history.

I’d say every couple of months as the other poster said.

I don’t mind Pics either really, if it was on sale and I had nothing to feed my addiction I’d make do with it.

            • +1

@vorsprung: @ganjadeals Just checked my eReceipts. I paid $3.95 for the 375g on 3rd Feb and 14th Dec. Full price is $7.30 and it's about 46% discount.

Skippy is the best.. but also the most unhealthy

    • Or is Skippy the worst.. but also the best tasting (to your palate)?

i just randomly put this on toast for the first time in ages like 30mins ago. it's solid.

    • +1

Try stirring it or put it in the microwave for a few seconds.

  • I know nothing about Peanut Butter, but got MacGyver's extra protein today because it was the only thing kinda discounted and seemed OK.

Got home and wife says its not aussie peanuts, and to get the simply nuts brand.

    I don't eat the stuff.

  • Had honey on toast with crunchy. Best ever.

Got it from the Woolies sale last week, decent! Nice change up from the Aldi Peanut Butter which I think rocks

  • Isn't this stuff no longer local? And they increased the price!?

  • +2

Still blows my mind that peanuts are legumes not nuts

    • That's nuts

  • From where do they source the peanuts sir?

    • +1

      From their website

Most come from Australia and Brazil, with the odd batch from Argentina.

    • Probably Kingaroy but it wont be long there are lesser peanut farms every year in Australia.

  • +2

Shame they don't have a dark roast option like Mayvers do, I find that flavour to be far more enjoyable than the standard PB flavours.

  • +1

Have tried them all and the only one that to me has genuine peanut flavour is BEGA. Love it extra crunchy

  • How is it compared to Bega Super Crunchy??? That's my go-to Peanut Butter.

  • Smooth and Crunchy varieties - Made in New Zealand from at least 50% Australian ingredients

Smoochy - Packaged in New Zealand (or maybe Made in NZ)

Where do the other 50% of peanuts originate from? from website:
    "Our peanuts, for now
While we figure out how to grow them here, our Hi Oleic peanuts are sourced from Australia, Brazil, and Argentina."

  • Not ever going to see again $2.50 PB I guess

    • Correct

I miss Sanitarium Natural Peanut Butter. 100% peanuts, medium roast and grind, no added salt. Can't find anything like it - Pics do have a no added salt version at IGA but it is coarser, more roasted and, like others have said, is quite dry. Anyone found something like the Sanitarium Natural Crunchy?
