    What's the bet they will nitpick at every irrelevant thing so at the end of it they can tell you how much you suck and then:

    We can arrange for lessons on the same day of receipt of your voucher.

  • +9

    As a professional driving instructor I can tell you you can't assess someone fully in the 15 minutes they are offering.

    • +30

      yes you can.. by following this logic.

      if (instructor.preferedgender()==true) && (client.age()>20 && client.age<30) && (sexy(client)==true)
      {
      return "You suck at driving. Come, sign up, let me teach you all the moves..";
      }
      else
      return "You suck at driving. Go sign up, Mr Igor over there can teach you how to drive properly.";

      • -2

        return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"You suck at coding, Go sign up, Mr %@ over there can teach you how to code properly.", [instructors objectAtIndex:(arc4random()%[instructors count])]];

          *woosh*

      • thanks for the effort :-)

  • +3

    is 15 minutes normally really worth $49?

    • +1

      mmm…. No.

    • +1

      on the drive2day website, it says a single 45 min lesson costs $39. the first lesson costs $30. claims of a 15 min assessment being worth $49 seems misleading

      • He / she is probably including the time to write the assessment, but any competent driver trainer can do that in about five minutes.

      • +1

        updated the site, now includes 30mins, which usually costs $30. No changes done to the deal price. The deal remains at $1. :D

  • +3

    give me a $1 and i'll tell you what you want to hear.

    • +4

      Drive poorly around me and I'll explain it loudly, with gestures, for free.

      • +3

        Most drivers are pretty tolerant of learner drivers and it also incumbent on the instructor to be mindful of other road users too by only taking clients on busier roads when they are ready.

        I have, however, heard my fair share of horns and if warranted I give a friendly wave. I try to restrain myself with other gestures to be a good example. We all have to start somewhere.

        • That's very professional of you…

        • -1

          Yes, to be fair, I do actually give L-platers a bit more space than I give other drivers. However, if I see some jackass park in a clearway, I'm quite happy to pull up behind them and blast the horn until they move on - it's a good stress release.

          I won't go into what I think of people who insist on reverse parking when they clearly have no ability to direct a car into a small space whilst travelling backward. This is a family friendly site, and I may include some words not intended for young eyes/ears.

        • Yes, that's how road rage stabbings/bashings start. Not very smart to think you can 'win' all the time.
          All the best to you.

  • For those thinking they are likely to get an unbiased driving assessment for this deal, I own a lovely Opera House in Sydney Harbour that I would like to sell you.

    Imma negging this, its not a deal.

    Its the same as selling a cheap car service with overpriced oil + components extra.

    Dodgy

    • +2

      Apparently there is no added cost, so for $1 you get to have 30 minutes of driving with a qualified driving instructor that will critique you at the end. Why so harsh?

      • +3

        It is suspected for $1 you will get a 30 minute sales push

  • +3

    Because I think this is a preferrable option:
    http://www.keys2drive.com.au

    Which means most people who are likely to use this service could actually get it for free, rather than $1 - and it would be longer.

    Because that 30 minute assessment was advertised originally at 15 mins and $49.

    • Not everyone is going to be eligible for that though. That is only for learner drivers.

      When you think about it, there really is a place for this sort of thing, and in reality, the only people who are likely to take up the offer are those who are not confident with their driving ability.

      So, given that they would be going into it expecting to be paying for a driving lesson anyway, if it were me I'd rather be getting my skills assessed during my thirty-minutes-for- $1 than in the lesson that I'm paying big money for.

      Its the same as selling a cheap car service with overpriced oil + components extra.

      Did you do a price comparison before deciding they were overpriced?

      My only criticism of the deal is that its only applicable for auto transmission cars.

      • +1

        And yet you did not vote positive?

        Surely if there is sufficient merit in the deal to firmly disagree then it deserves it?

        I agree the link I posted was restricted to learner drivers, but this deal is also restricted to (automatic vehicle).

        And yes I price compared, to quote "Which means most people who are likely to use this service could actually get it for free, rather than $1 - and it would be longer."

        Thats not withstanding the choice of providers, possibly more regulation and reinforcement using web material etc.

        Should you be a learner driver you could book this service through the keys2drive program with the deal provider. For free.

        I am not against safer drivers, quite the contrary.

        But I am also for businesses being upfront about their goals, and this one is to get new students in.

        Don't have a problem with that, but I do have it with T&C that change on a deal.

        "updated the site, now includes 30mins, which usually costs $30. No changes done to the deal price. The deal remains at $1. :D"

        Anyway that's me out .. broom brooom

    • I was pretty keen on Keys2Drive until I attended the industry training day and realised I had to have the parents in the back. I run a MINI. There was no way Mum or dad was fitting in the back.

      Keys2Drive is a pretty good idea. There is a fair bit of theory thrown into the lesson too, so you wouldn't get the full hour on the road and in reality, if they are a brand new driver, there is only so much you can get across to the parents to help them with driving with their kids.

    Can we drive to Hungry Jacks and pick up a sweet deal and then go to BWS and get some of the specials? :P
