Getting paid $15 (after cashback) to upgrade my WiFi router to 802.11ac still stands pretty close to my best ever

      .

      • +4

OP's question is "your best" ;)
Yes, flying 2 families return to Langkawi for less than $1000 all up was damn good.

        • +1

          I will accept

      • Are you nogs

  • Every Mayver's Dark Peanut Butter deal

  • +7

I think there was an IKEA deal where you would get the cost of your meal taken off your in-store purchases and I had so much fun picking up discarded receipts from the return trays in the restaurant and using them for my purchases.

Also, there was a deal for 'Infrequent Flyers' where I was able to get enough travel dollars to fly my family of 4 to Tasmania for a holiday.

And for a while there, Woolworths had stackable discount codes and you'd end up with 80% discount on some featured items. All pre-pandemic bargains!

  • The 2018 Jetstar Christmas lottery was pretty cool. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/424453

Not sure I got a return flight out of it. So in way they won too.

  • All those $100ish return flights inbetween the Alpha and Delta variants of COVID. Travel the country, see all the tourist hotspots without the tourists and narrowly dodged a lot of lockdowns. Easily the highlight of COVID.

  • +2

I got a HP Laserjet Pro colour MFD for a lazy $150 on clearance around 2016. Believe it or not Im still using the toner that came with it. The black been on "critical" level for almost 2 years. Still going strong. Bang for buck bargain would be my Logitech Driving Force GT wheel which I got for $69 and have spent thousands of hours using.

  • +1

Fly Melbourne to Rwanda in business class for $1,700ish, return.

  • +4

BBQ Angus burger hack, where you would buy the 30-cent BBQ sauce through the app, and the Kitchen would get a printout identical to the ~$12 burger. Man, my arteries are never going to recover from that foray into Angus Madness.

    • Can't believe I missed this!

  • +3

    For me, it has to be the Bunnings Drone. I got the $250 gift card but many people got the drone as well. Reference to the [forum post](https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/490475}

    • By far the best deal/price error

  • +7

Dick smith closing down firesale got me some good deals. A display Cannon 700d for $50 after a cashback promo was pretty good.

  • +9

The friends we made along the way

  • +1

There was another amazing Bunnings deal.
I reckon it was yellowpages.com.au offering a free $20 Gift Card.
Or maybe it was something like buy a Giftcard at an extremely discounted rate.
All I remember was that I ended up with $800 in Gift cards.

  • +1

Not a deal as such but this site introduced me to Cash rewards. Have got over $6,500 through them which is pretty decent.

  • +2

Alienware AW3423DWF Muzeeb Edition for $149.93

    • What was this one? Keep reading about it. Is it the one that’s worth $1.5K? I’m looking for one and surprised they honored it at that price

Got a Galaxy Flip 4 for me and the wife $175 each.

    • +5

Cheap wife @ $175, but it's the ongoing maintenance that makes it more expensive

      • +1

        like a printer
        .

        • At least when part of the wife isn't working, the rest still works…

  • +8

Around 10 years ago Citibank had the Signature credit card promo with no annual fee for life.
Still use it as my main CC to this day.
CC with points, travel and price protection insurance, and priority pass membership with no annual fees is a bit of a unicorn.

    • Is that changing with nab?

      • +2

NAB are not going to be making any changes to CitiBank CC's until the 2nd half of 2024.

The NAB equivalent of the CitiBank Premier lacks priority pass, and if they migrate us over to that and add an annual fee… well they can get f'ed

        • I have the Citi Rewards free for life deal from back then and NAB are finally trying to slap on a 149 annual fee

          • @indomatic: Ouch, well it was good while it lasted
I haven't received the email yet.

  • +1

Still pending but - the MEL - KGL business class price error $1,650 but should be circa $8,000

Qantas tacked an LAX-JFK leg on to flights from MEL or SYD for only $10 in 2009 and I took the family. For some reason the flights were marked as upgradeable, so I used my points and got Business Class flights to New York for four for $4400 oop.
On the other hand my son still thinks the Moto G82 I gave him cost me $500…

  • price error of DJI drones at the Bunnings. Order cancelled and ended up with $250 gift cards - no complaints to free money

  • +1

    Undies

    $15 for 35 pairs.

  • +1

When Masters was closing down, I snagged an EGO 49cm Lawn Mower for about $380, which are normally around $649! Don't think I've ever seen them that cheap ever since.

    • I got an Ego whipper Snipper. It was really cheap, still going strong.

      • +1

Nice one! My mower is still running well 7 years later, but I suspect the blade and battery are going to be due for replacement soon

Take a Renault around the block for $200 eftpos GC

  • I bought a Lego UCS Millenium Falcon from Star Wars @50% off for $500 delivered, I'm not into lego but it brought back fond memories of childhood.

I never got around to building it and left it at my mum's place in her garage. One day I chucked it up on a website and ended up selling it for about $4,500, which wasn't bad considering it was opened and the box wasn't in great shape.

The other one was probably my Roborock s7MaxV which has saved me massive amounts of time and kept our place really clean

    Didn't find my house here
Neither partner from here so far unless I think of the similar buying habits
My car has cost the same using this forum.
Banks still promise and fail to deliver.
Boost mobile still chunks data but fails to deliver roaming.
JV COULD BRIBE Productreview and have his name removed. Amazing job!
Amazon still has toilet paper because I found it cheaper elsewhere.
Maccas still dumps burgers as health stores got me by my balls.
    Any suggestions?

    • Anti Depressants.

      • Does Amazon sell them o do I see Gerry H ?

        • Get a motorbike and you won’t need them. :)

  • +1

For me it tickets to the Cruel Intentions musical for almost nothing (like 10 dollars or something). It was absolutely amazing, my wife and I had a ball

    • I got the same deal. Went with relatively low expectations, was a great night

3 pack woodworm umbrellas from 2013.
I still have one left too making it the best $6 umbrella I've ever used, even cheaper than a bunnings umbrella which goes for around $12 these days.

    • +1

Haha yes! I remember these…still live in the boot of my sisters’ cars from when I gave them away as gifts.

    • +1

  • The Sony xm5 price error one was pretty good, $350 new.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745053

No doubt others but that one comes to mind.

  • The Samsung washer 2 months ago for $350, I got paid the rebate of $300 so it came down to $50

  • Anyone still rocking their Sansa Clip+ with Rockbox? Valuable deal with years of service and has gone up in price.

  • the HP Omen 4090 deal for almost $1k cheaper.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/763178

  • Xbox Series X $505. missed out on the first run, then a poster alerted sale back on as seller expertly drip fed to the hopeful. The Gamesmen, we salute you.

Sony Android Auto car head unit $450, RRP $700 (high spec LCD model) from Autobarn, who ran a much better Black Friday sale than Superwhatever whose items I was looking at actually increased from the Thurs even with the 20% off have to be a Super member malarkey..

  • In terms of total monetary value: Coles Mastercard Giftcards. Probably close to $10k of savings.

  • +1

  • $99 Apple airpods 2nd gen.

  • +1

Citibank fee free for life credit card. Didn’t seem that valuable at the time but now that all credit card fees have gone up it is proving great value. Just hope it continues after the sale to NAB.

    • Bunnings DJI drone pricing error where they cancelled my order but I got a $250 gift card as an apology.
    • heavily discounted subscriptions to YouTube Premium, Tidal & Google One over the last few years.

After wasting too much time each morning looking for socks, i bought 400 pairs from an ozb deal for ~$80
Still have some of them Many years later. Pretty sure someone at the company forgot to fill in a box when ordering because the brand was "Title", i assume that was the default text and should have been some other brand. Now im starting to run low, wish i ordered more.

    • +2

They must be awful quality if you only have some left from 400 pairs unless you just throw them out after wearing them once.

  • Sony 7.1 surround speaker package for 227 instead of 1199. Leather lounge from HN for 699 instead of $2500+.

  • Personally it was a cruise discount for dock workers that got posted here.

Return flights to Bali for $115.

  • +1

Free $800 for signing up for webull (me & my wife), invited one friend as well lol :D

  • +1

    probably this deal,
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155195

Almost been 10 years, still wearing this jacket. But since it's "wearing a bit thin" in spots am reserving it only for overseas travel hikes. it's been a perfect combo of function, size/weight, warmth for a bargain price. When it was water resistant even better.

Been on the search for something similar to replace. The closest so far, I found was Macpac Accelerate, but design/functionality is not the same.

  • +2

Savings Bank Account Interest rate deals this year. Those are filled with so valuable information from other members. These I consider the best deals followed by Boost deals because there I actually earned money rather than save in shopping, when I bought and didn't even need that product.

  • +1

One of my more memorable ones was when someone posted how to identify the chocolates that had a winning wrapper to get a another free chocolate.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32316

I was unemployed and bored at the time so a friend and I went around and picked up 2 Tupperware containers full of chocolate bars..

$9 return flights Sydney to Launceston 2008

    • +1

I did $3 Melbourne to Sydney but there were some gymnastics in that.

  • Uber Eats $25 off four meals, four codes to redeem. Didn't last long but god was good. I pray it happens again…

    • +1

Those were great during the rise of UberEats, while they had VC money to burn. Now they're in the maintain phase and you'll never see discounts of that nature again.

      • Yes, this was recently though. You are right, though. It'll never be back 😭

  • +1

This deal is the most underrated deal of all time. (VIC only). I suspect everyone did not upvote it to keep the deal on the low. True ozbargainers easily get around the 2 beer limit.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734173

Delonghi 40% stacking vouchers - second best - saved me a thousand
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732451

Third is stacking Samsung vouchers for phones when there is a price error or massive discount

Fourth is the turkey/ lebanon/ argentina/ india subscriptions

    • Delonghi deal was best for me as well.
Ended up getting two coffee machines when I had only ordered one.

  • If from forum posts count, finding out about Click Frenzy 99% off deals and winning a TV from it

  • Half price breville barista pro with bonus beans and all the bonus gifts

The BetEasy 3 months free Kayo deal. Had free Kayo for about a year with that one

  • I remember buying 4 dozen bottles of Jacob's creek wine for 4 x mystery flights with 2 nights accommodation each. Family and I ended up in Hobart and Launceston flown by Virgin for the cost of the cheap wine.
