  • Can you cancel after the first month?

    • What is the benefit in doing that?

Getting FTTP and moving to a cheaper provider

        • +1

You need to be using a high speed NBN plan to get the upgrade, from what I’ve heard you need to be using it for 6 months otherwise if you drop your speed after the fibre upgrade you’re liable for fees

          • +1

@Rorku: You can change it back after one month without any penalty.

I've just done this with my folks & in-laws who were both on FttC with Aussie BB. It's an easy way to get a far more reliable connection for next to nothing.

        • +2

Generally all FTTP providers are doing it for free.
Its not hem paying for it to be done its the NBN network.

    • Yes, I was told by a rep on the phone that you are only obligated to stay one month but they hope you won't 🤣 Not sure if it's in any fine print somewhere .

      • The 2 reps I spoke with to upgrade my folks place & in-laws actually suggested it to me first, which was my plan all along.

What if the address is Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)? :'(

    • Then you can't "Upgrade from FTTN/C to high-speed FTTP with a $0 install."

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Leaptel deal is still goated

      Is the company any good?

      • +2

Just as good as any other, im on leaptel and its like $99 for 100/50

        • Do you mean $89 a month for 1000/50 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/807338

I made the switch from Aussie BB to Leaptel last month. Currently on FttN, however I'm due to get FttP tomorrow providing NBN don't cancel my appointment.

Once my FttP is up and running I'm moving to 1000/50 for $89 a month for 12 months, which is what I was paying Aussie BB a month for their 75/20 plan.

      • I just switched from Aussie it's $65 for 100/20
Australian company with local support so seems good

      • Was crap for me - backbone just wasn't there so jumped back to Superloop

How is it compare to tangerine?

  • sperloop is better pricing at the moment

100/20 w/ Leaptel is $74.95 for 12 months. Churned to them a couple of months back and are finding them to be pretty good. No issues so far.

  • +1

Leaptel have the 100/20 upgrade for fttn people for $65pm for 12 months

    • Talked me into it.

      • Dm if you ned a referral code

        • Do you have referral code for their 1000/50 plan?

  • anything for hfc?

    • Not for free.

  • So annoying. There's 2 free fibre connections across the road and despite individual copper feeds to each unit I can't have fibre as I'm in a townhouse.

Have your ISP file a “Technology Query Services Review” ticket with nbnco to get your LOCIDs activated if it’s feasible to do so. If your ISP won’t do it then move to a real ISP like Aussie Broadband.

      • I'm with Aussie.

      • You clearly haven't needed Aussie to do anything remotely complex for you lately, they are absolutely useless these days.

  • Just checked and my place is now enable for the Ultra fast plan.

Just wondering does 1000/50 give you LAN like speed? If not what is the benefit going on it?

My company paid mobile plan already have over 300G data and I am few hundred meters from a Vodafone and Optus cell tower. Will 1000/50 go faster than my 5G?

  • Whats the best way to go about FTTN -> FTTP upgrade? Continue with FTTN plan whilst signing up to another FTTP plan with different provider and cancel FTTN once FTTP is ready?

    • It's best to initiate the upgrade with the same provider. Let's say your FTTN connection is with AussieBB then when you're ready to upgrade give Aussie a call and they will submit the fibre order upgrade to NBN. Your FTTN connection will be still working until the FTTP connection is ready to go. You won't be charged for the FTTP service until it's built by NBN. I highly recommend you submit the order before the end of June as there are currently deals going on.

  • Codes now invalid. My plan ends next week and was planning to use this code sometime this week… but guess not.
