  • Or you can buy a router Beryl AX for about $115ish and turn wifi off. You can always use it as a travel router when needed.

      If you don't require the extra memory or storage, that's a decent idea.

      I'd also note that the Brume 2 with the plastic case is $79.20 as well.

      I honestly don't know if they're using the case as thermal mass on the aluminium one, nor do I know if MT7981 runs hot or not.

      • I have the plastic one, don't know the exact temperatures because it doesn't have a sensor, but it's always cool to the touch on top and slightly warm on the bottom. I would say about 10% of the temperature the nbn HFC modem achieves.

          I think it might have a cpu temp sensor as part of the SoC, it's just not really useful in a passively cooled product that never really throttles anyway. You might see it exposed in /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp or similar. (At least the earlier Mediatek ARM stuff did)
