Motorola Moto E13, Android 13 GO, 2GB / 64GB, 5000mAh $29 (Bonus $35 Optus SIM) @ Woolworths

421

Just picked up the phone for $29 which had the $35 sim card in it which was a surprise. Even has some sort of Dolby atmos sound but there is a single speaker are average at best. Very good phone for the price as it comes with the latest Android version.

    Floptus, enough said

    • +1

ironcially this shitass phone would work fine on coles mobile as it used optus but not woolies as they use telstra

    • -7

Why Floptus? Is it because of the recent outage or the hack a while back?

Any Telco can have an 16 hour outage…….and will happen again.
As for the hack, well I can only guess that they employed external auditors to review and will now have applied much better security systems. In turn a good place to be compared to many others. They would have decent systems in place now (one would hope).

If however you just don’t like them or don't get great speed, mobile signal etc, then fair enough.

      • +7

An outage after a year of data breach, I don't think it is "decent".

        • No its not decent but and I call it bad timing…..it can and does happen. I am not a Optus advocate as much as it may sound like it. Its more that I expect to see this type of stuff to happen to others more as time goes on.

        • need to read the SLA for uptime and coverage ….they were within SLA , I work in IT , have worked for telstra on the network making routing changes and also an overseas telco, outages happen, even amazon and azure have outages. if your phone is important enough to have a telstra and optus sim ….optus is my main phone but had a aldi sim which is telstra during outage. problem with this outage is time of day, and more people working from home and nbn was also dead.

      • +5

Sure, any network can have both, but they didn't, Optus did within the year.

See you in the Qantas thread where any airline could have sold seats to cancelled flights 30 days after you cancelled them …

      • Pure guess is you haven't been beaten by floptus.

        • Who me? My mobile is with Amaysim (Optus) and NBN also affected.
I do however have redundancy in place for times like these so didn’t really bother me too much. Everything switches to 4G Modem/Router so LAN and VoIp phones all fine. Business as normal for the most part thankfully compliments of the nice freebie Boost Mobile Sims :-)

      • Problem was that Optus as a Telco that the company now has become big , way too big..and there was a comment on the news about Optus never run any scenarios of this kind of outages to prepare themselves .. lazy and complacent For not having backup plan.

      • How much did you pay for one phone?

        • Cheap as chips

Lol Optus. At this point who the hell who join that isn't already stuck with them…? The network is a joke.

    • I mean I have had 99.7% uptime on my Optus 4G connection…. it's not THAT bad

  • +2

    where WHERE ?

  • Do you roll the dice thinking "surely they couldn't have a major stuff up again"?

  • What can a phone with 2GB RAM do these days?

May as well be a dumb phone

    • +4

      Honestly, you'd be surprised.

There is one of these in my family and it hasn't failed to do anything asked of it.

Calls, Messages, Zoom, MS Authenticator, Firefox, Foobar2000, VLC player, and even google maps have all run absolutely fine.

Music, movies, chat, navigation, and browsing; covers a lot of peoples regular usage patterns.

      • It has dual nano sim?

      • Pokemon Go is my goto test app. :)
Oh, last time this was posted someone said "will not run Pokemon GO, apparently, probably because of the tiny 2GB"

    • I think can also work as Octoprint for a 3d printer.

  • Is this phone locked to Optus?

    • These prepaid phone & SIM kit bundles are always locked. It'll either cost you $80 to unlock, or free to unlock if you have recharged at least $80 dollars into the linked prepaid SIm.

The RealME C21 with Optus SIM wasn't locked so not all are.

    • +2

Just checked and it's locked to optus.

  • does it come with a charger and type c cable? if hardware has dual sim but optus disables it can it be re enabled>?

is this the same one floptus is trying to flog off at $129 https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/phones/motorola/moto-e13#Sp…

    Battery size 5000mah….toooo small
You will be charging the mobile quiet often
Please look at 10000mah battery size for mobiles

    • For reference, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery capacity.

    • Please look at 10000mah battery size for mobiles

      Dude? I have a 10,000mAh powerbank.

Though its much smaller than my s22 ultra. The power bank is a thicc boi compared to the phone. So how about no.

  • I dont of any phone models that are of 10000mah or more. A tablet perhaps

  • thx op
but how about a working network?

    • +3

Shots fired. Dont worry gladys will fix it. 🤪

Didn't think about that when buying just looked at a decent phone that cost way less than what I paid for my current phone case :-)

      • With Floptus thinking their see thru sims are worth $35!!

  • I'm thinking of getting this as a cheap replacement phone when I need it in future. Could I just activate the free SIM that comes with it, then turn data off and just use it for receiving calls and wi-fi only, then after 6 months pay the discount $25 fee to unlock it? Or would I be forced to do multiple prepaid recharges to reach the 6 months active time?

  • Any unlock codes these days? If only Optus had boost deals.

  • Don't buy 2 GB RAM phones, they're super slow and even with updates and minimal apps there is always a delay between press and response. These days the usable min should be 4GB RAM for Android.

The cardboard box for $29 comes with bonus e-waste is about right.

I have been using it for last couple of days as my work phone and it's perfectly fine for making calls, text, email, and some browsing. It's definitely slow compared to my regular flagship phone but way better than my old phone work phone that was stuck at Android 11.

Just got one from Harbourtown Gold Coast. One still left there now. I was told the store got more of them yesterday so check your local again if still looking.

    Awesome deal thanks OP

    • Does the Price Tag show marked down value of $29 or some other value?

      • I just called around to my local stores and asked for the Motorola E13 phone with Optus. I then confirmed it was $29, put it on hold for a couple of hours and then picked it up.
The special might have ended Tuesday night when they change specials, not sure. Good luck

  • I've tried 2 stores in Darwin but they didn't have them in stock.

Just got this today from a Woolies in Carnegie Victoria! Also Got told the card needs to be activated in next 30 days to get the full benefit of the plan.

  • This phone is in next week's Coles catalogue for $79, locked to Telstra network.
