hmm existing customer and mine is about to end in 2 months. Ok if i port out and then come back a month later?

Can i buy the voucher now and activate in a couple of months?

    • +1

it says that it needs to be activated within 30 days

    • +1

and why would you wait for a month to port back in to Boost? you can do it as soon as you successfully ported out into the new provider.

      • +1

Probably to save money? Cause everytime I port out to say an Amaysim 28 day plan for like $8 from the 7/11 deal…. I use it all until porting back to Boost.

To some people $8 is $8

  • until when is this promotion/affiliation expires? my current boost prepaid plan will not expire until 23 April.

    • +2

I've asked the rep and will update.

Edit: The rep TA said offer ends on 11:59PM AEDT March 31, unless Boost ends the increase earlier (which is out of their control).

  • If I buy this plan, can I recharge later to 365GB when I run out? Or do I have to stick to the same plan?

  • What's the advantage of Boost Mobile over Woolies or More that also uses Telstra network?

    • might be 5g access, which the others might lack, or access to the WHOLE telstra network, while the others might have limited access?

    • +1

Boost is better as it is the only MVNO with access to Telstra's entire network and has more 5G coverage than Woolworths Mobile or More Mobile.

      AI Overview

Boost Mobile uses the full Telstra network for coverage, while Woolworths Mobile and More Mobile use the Telstra Wholesale network, which has a slightly smaller coverage footprint, especially for 5G.

      Here's a more detailed comparison:

      Boost Mobile:
Operates on the full Telstra network, offering access to the same coverage as Telstra itself.
This means access to a wider area, including more 5G coverage, compared to Telstra Wholesale MVNOs.

      Woolworths Mobile and More Mobile:
Use the Telstra Wholesale network, which covers 98.8% of the population with 4G and 75% with 5G.
While this network still provides good coverage, it's slightly smaller than the full Telstra network, particularly for 5G.

      Telstra Wholesale Network Coverage:
The Telstra Wholesale network covers 98.8% of the population with 4G and 75% with 5G.
Telstra's full network reaches 99.6% of the population with 4G and 89% with 5G

      Key Differences:
Boost Mobile has full access to the Telstra network, including 5G, while Woolworths Mobile and More Mobile have access to the Telstra Wholesale network, which has a smaller footprint, especially for 5G.

      • Not directed at you but I am sick to death of AI summaries. It's become the absolute lowest form of online answer-seeking, as anyone can generate said summary by typing their question into their search bar - and it preemptively closes the door on actual discourse and people sharing their actual insights.

        • +1

The AI summary is copied directly from the websites. This is the official answer from the telco which should be posted. I've answered a similar question here.

Here's a table created by me and not AI using the info from the website.

          Mobile 5G Coverage 4G Coverage
          Boost/Telstra 89% 99.6%
Woolworths Mobile and More Mobile 75% 98.8%

As to people sharing insights, it will vary depending on location and device used.

There are anecdotal reports of rural Australia being better with Telstra and then Boost. Also anecdotal reports of Telstra prioritising emergency services, then Telstra business customers, then Telstra postpaid customers, then Telstra prepaid customers and then Boost prepaid customers.

Boost Mobile would have better coverage than Woolworths Mobile or More Mobile.

    Hey Boost marketing droids!

Maybe consider bringing the old $230 plan, rather than making us all jump through hoops just so you can brag about customer engagement.

    Thoughtfully,
    Customers

    • +13

I like the $150 plan for 80GB over 12 months.

  • Do I need to port out / in to other if I am with woolworth mobile now?

    • +1

No as you would be considered a new Boost customer.

    • +1

You should be right to go straight to Boost. I ported from Woolies to Boost about two years ago.

  • Great deal but unfortunately for me that I have 3 plans expiring in the middle of June. I might still get them and sacrifice the last 1.5 months.

Does anyone from TCB (is TA still working there?) know when this exclusive offer ends? Also, is it $65 per account or per purchase?

    • +1
      • Expiry date (31st Mar 11:59pm AEDT) is in the post underneath the Referral Links and also mentioned here.
      • $65 cashback is per purchase.
      • +2

Great, I will wait until the last day to get up to 3.

        • +1

          Please note:

Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. If there is more than one SIM in an order, it will result in an untracked purchase and the purchase will be ineligible for cashback.

          • +1

@trixieb: Yup. Thanks again. I should read more before asking questions. :D

  • -2

Man I want to neg this.

This is the 4th (5th?) different price for this product this week. All with various hoops. Most (unless you're a new customer - which isn't mentioned in the title) involve either harassing customer service or ADDITIONAL PURCHASES of another sim to port in/out.
The number of price changes alone (in a week) should have this flagged as an "issue with the retailer".

Making a rod for our own back promoting this crap.

    • +1

This is the 4th (5th?) different price for this product this week. All with various hoops.

You are confusing multiple different vendors and cashback offers.

And what 'hoops' are you referring to? Porting out/in has always been a part of the mobile prepaid game if you want to maximise savings.

      • +1

Nope, not confusing multiple vendors at all. Am directly referring to them (all, collectively).
Boost is becoming a bit of a joke - jacking up their prices continuously, changing their inclusions continuously. It's almost worse than the two supermarkets with their weekly price cycles.

What hoops? Well you've referenced the first one. Yes, porting in/out has always been part of it, that doesn't not make it a hoop… In addition, this isn't a straight up buy, it has to be done through a specific portal (dear I say, hoop). And yes, that is also always part of the cashback game, but that doesn't not make it a hoop - there are literally 6+ bullet points of criteria to meet/hoops to navigate - please don't tell me you're raw dogging the internet without ad blockers install, so even you have to hoop to get this deal. And then, there are multiple users in the comments reporting experiencing errors, leading to the OP linking to a thread (lol) from the last deal from a month ago that outlines how to navigate that particular hoop.

I think it is fair to comment on this post (and yes, trixieb, yawn, other Boost posts too) about 1) the frequency of posts for this product, and 2) the hoops (and additional purchased required) for most people to use this. Just because they might be 'known to a lot of users', doesn't mean they're known to everyone, or not relevant.

        • +1

Boost is becoming a bit of a joke

The cost of simply existing is becoming a bit of a joke, so I'm confused why you feel the need to target Boost.

it has to be done through a specific portal

          You mean a website?

The criteria is pretty standard for most if not all cashback promos, perhaps this money-saving game isn't for you.

          • @magic8ballgag:

so I'm confused why you feel the need to target Boost

Is there anything else that has ~7 'bargains' so far this month (~4-5 this week)? Will this be price beat tomorrow (this weeks trend would suggest it might). Boost aren't exactly playing nice with their customers (new or exisiting), they're sucking up your time with this nonsense (and time is a cost), so yeah, they're a bit of a joke (to me).

            You mean a website?

Yes, completely acknowledge this is standard practice for cashback (ignoring the errors faced by multiple people, or perhaps we wouldn't ignore those…). But also, some people might not actually be across what is involved here.

Actively go out to buy another SIM, spend time online porting in/out, go incognito/disable ad-blockers or click through the app and additional screens (relative to the vast majority of other online purchases) to get the deal, then wait XX days to actually get your cashback etc. Yes, it's standard for this process, but a lot of that isn't even mentioned among the ~15 bullet points of compliance. Maybe my comment will lead to just one person not engaging/rewarding this silly system (knee jerk one upping cashrewards rather than some effort to actually bring a new bargain to the table).

            • +1

              @nzcoops:

Is there anything else that has ~7 'bargains' so far this month (~4-5 this week)?

What does that have to do with Boost? If anything you should be targeting the cashback providers for competing with each other (as if that's an issue…?).

But also, some people might not actually be across what is involved here.

Thankfully, OP has provided as much information as possible and actually made an effort to answer all questions.

You know, if you're not happy with the quality of deals being submitted, perhaps you could consider contributing some yourself?

Blood stains won't make it matter
        Got good things, got you
        Hoops and everything
Get back, never get back too soon

        • +1

Good track, you instantly hooped me back to 2015.

    • Please see here.

Sorry but I've no control over the price. This is an awesome offer and worthy of posting on OzBargain.

  • Did I understand this right? If I'm existing, and chose to renew with Boost, I only get 240GB? Still a good deal it seems.

    • You can be a new Boost customer for cashback. You simply port out with a Telstra $2 SIM card and port back into Boost as a new customer.

    • More info here.

  • +1

It's not letting me buy it! It happened last time too but i thought the site was down and ended up picking another deal. Is it because i have reached a limit of some sort?

    • +1

      Please see my previous comment.

      • +1

        Thanks. Worked

      • Won’t let me complete the purchase. I bought one for my partner using her name and it went through without asking for ID information. When trying buy my own it says‘ something went wrong’. I tried changing minor details still not working. Can I buy in my wife’s name again and activate it in my name?

        • You would be able to activate using different name & details to the person who purchased.

You had asked in the expired 28-day SIM offer. With the 28-day SIM offer, no ID is required when purchasing.

With this 12-month SIM offer, please note that ID (Aus DL/Aus Passport) is required when purchasing as shown here and here.

When taking delivery of your purchase, you'll need to show the same ID you used in your order - for security reasons.

  • I'm with Boost now. I'll port over to Telstra for 1 month and then port back. Does that count as new customer or not since it's using the same Telstra network?

    • Boost to Telstra and back would count as a new Boost customer. Please note that for cashback, the Boost SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase.

      • Why doesn't the title say "New customers only"?

        • +1

Unfortunately there isn't enough space in the title. "New customers only" is not usually in the title of any Boost or SIM card offers on OzBargain. Most regular buyers would know that SIM starter packs are for new customers and not for recharge. Details such as GB and ongoing prices are what the mods seem to prefer to be included in the title. However I've stated "for new customers only" in my post description.

You upvoted a Boost offer on 21/03/25. OP didn't state "New customers only" in the title nor in the post description in that offer. (Also not much info in the post description.) I wonder why you didn't ask OP the same question or other OPs of Boost or SIM card posts as none of them have "New customers only" in the titles. Some OPs including the Boost offer you liked don't even mention "New customers only" or T&Cs in the post description.

This is the lowest price ever (after cashback) for the Boost 290GB SIM card. I've done a more comprehensive post description than some of the Boost or SIM card offers posted here. I'm sorry you are unhappy with the title which is similar to all other SIM card offers posted here.

          • +1

            @trixieb: Offt nzcoops got busted.

            • @idonteven: @idonteven haha :)

I saw a simple 'click and buy' post, liked/commented and moved on.
I saw a list of compliance bullet points and a number of users encountering errors/issues with workarounds (past issues that haven't been resolved?) being proposed.

I scrutinised the latter more than the former - I too am in shock.

          • @trixieb: You can "wonder why I didn't ask" or why I 'liked' the other thread all you like. I don't really think I have a great answer for you.

Maybe it's just that that deal seemed like a simpler proposition (click button, buy product) than this offer? Maybe because I didn't see a number of users encountering issues/errors with that offer like I see in this offer? I probably just presumed the other posts had that in the title, it's not uncommon to see it.

Maybe it's something about all of the above, combined with the "the 'lowest price ever*'" vibe, that inspired me to comment! When (I wonder if) perhaps this isn't a great offer from a great company and perhaps it's all just a knee jerk reaction to try one up cashrewards offer from 7 hours earlier?

I mean, no hard feelings against you.

  • +3

I am starting to doubt that Boost has access to the full Telstra network, because I cannot access 5G standalone on Boost. I am using a Samsung S25 which definitely supports 5G SA, tested on Vodafone. Can someone verify this theory?

    • Interesting, I've never seen my iPhone operate on 5G standalone with Boost, Vodafone, or Optus. It's always been in non-standalone mode when on 5G. I just always thought none of the Australian telcos have fully implemented 5G SA yet.

  • +2

I have Boost and Telstra side by side on two S22s and they're definitely not the same. Speed and reception vary.

    • +1

Boost is definitely deprioritised, even if they have access to the same towers. At a music festival where the towers were overloaded my friends on full Telstra had working service but on Boost I had no reception at all - couldn’t even send SMS.

      • It used to be much better in my opinion. It's not the full Telstra anymore, im even considering giving Catch or Kogan another go.

  • Does anyone face issue ordering this sim via this offer ?
I keep getting something went wrong try again later.
Tried on different browsers , on PC and phone , on wifi and mobile data. While being incognito as well.
All fails with same error message.
I only had boost once before 3 yrs ago

    • +1

      Please see my previous comment.

      • Tried about 10 times with different combination, different computer and would not work…

        • Same experience not sure why.
I had boost only once more than 3 yrs ago.

  • Do you only know it tracks after 24 hours? Any other indicators?

    • I just bought and TC emailed confirming tracked about 5 mins later

      • Cheers, came through on TC. Always flying blind

    • It usually tracks from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the batch reporting. You will get an email when it tracks and can see under "Earnings" several minutes after the email.

  • +1

Literally yesterday they only did $40 cashback.. I feel screwed over… Do they want to go back and increase all us chumps? Probably not.. haha.. yes, sour grapes..

  • +2

Guys be careful. In previous offer I got this sim. My cashback despite being tracked as clicked, I still haven’t received the cashback. I had raised missing cashback with top cashback , and it’s over a month , no response.

    • +1

When did you purchase? Cashback is usually paid in about 3 months.

For enquiries, please contact TopCashback using this link. You would expect a response within 48 hours.

    • I had to send a message after 4+ months waiting back for $80 for a Boost deal. 1 day later, TCB let me cash out, no dramas.

      • +1

The purchase was made in Feb mid. I get the cashback gets paid in 3 months time frame. But it has not even tracked , I am not sure , I will magically be paid after 3 months. I have left a missing cashback query. But no response yet.

        • Definitely do a missing cashback claim.

          • +1

            @yojabbajabba: @greywine Just to clarify:

            • If you haven't yet, please submit a missing cashback claim here.

            • If you have, you can check on the progress of your claim or add further info here. There is no tracking in the Earnings section. Unfortunately TopCashback does not manually add the tracking for missing cashback claims, unlike other cashback sites such as Cashrewards or ShopBack.

            • After submitting the claim, you would receive an email that says to wait several months. There is usually no response during the waiting period (about 3 months). TopCashback will contact you if they need more info. You would wait for Telstra/Boost to process the claim and there is usually no need to contact anyone at this stage.

            • If you wish to contact TopCashback, here is the link again for a faster response.

Better deal now. Sux there is no $230 sim anymore but this will do. Wife was on Boost, but temporarily ported her out recently and was going to sign up with More on CBA deal but this works out better now. Especially with a Topcashback referral to her, $10 for her and $35 for me as well as the $65 cashback…

  • Can I use my same email as I used from a year ago when I had boost? (Have since ported out and using different carrier)

    • Did this without issue.

  • This offer is for new activations only.

Does anyone know how to keep their current number?

Would it work if I first transfer my number to a cheap SIM from another provider and then activate a new Boost SIM to take advantage of the deal?

    • Yes. Keep your current number when you port out and port back in. Answered here.

      • Hey mate, I have boost $300 SIM plan expired yesterday. How do I purchase any other provider plan to port out (I cant wait for SMI to arrive later , because I would be without phone otherwise today)? and then when I port back to boost will they send me the new SIM card again? pls advise. Thanks

    • More info here.

  • why is esim purchase excluded?!

    • +1

There is a workaround. When you receive the physical SIM, activate it and then convert to eSIM.

  • Does anyone know when the cashback will expire?

    • Expiry date is 31st Mar 11:59pm AEDT. It is in the post underneath the Referral Links and also mentioned here.

  • I tried a number of times to purchase but received the error ‘ Sorry, we are unable to process your order. Please try again later’

Tried from phone, laptop, different network, vpn. However it didn’t help. Surprised that no one reported it.

Called Boost and they mentioned that they are aware of the issue.

Curious if anyone else faced this issue.

    • Unfortunately it is a known issue. Telstra/Boost may randomly block you temporarily. Please see my previous comment.

Also please avoid using VPN as it may prevent your order from tracking.

Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.

    • ….Surprised that no one reported it……..eh, you must be new to these deals. If you view all past Boost Deals you'll find it is a very common and well discussed topic. :-)

  • +1

I've tried multiple times but the boost checkout keeps saying 'Sorry something went wrong. We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.' I didn't try to login my boost account. Is this happening for others?

  • +1

Yes, and I've had enough. Goodnight

  • It is also happenned to me when I tried to order the boost sim

    • Same here, hopefully they fix it soon so we can order.

      • @Geillis @Chranmes Replied here and here.

        • +2

Tried multiple times, different cards and email addresses. Can't order.
          Address never accepts

          • @Kanjus: Thanks thought I give it a go after a few days and order completed using the initial payment method and details without any modification

  • This is a good deal if you want to stay on full Telstra network. Is there a deal coming for Optus 365 days plan though? I was on Telstra(JB gift card deals) and Boost for god knows how long and my experience has been sub par. They oversell their network with the promise of 'best coverage' which makes a difference in regional, but I live in the city and in congested areas Telstra simply does not work. I tried Optus and it was better (albeit still slow in congested areas).

    • Sorry no idea about Optus. The experience with the different telco depends on your location. Telstra and Boost are better for me than Optus or Vodafone.

I've not used JB Hi-Fi Mobile from Telstra. I'm with the original Telstra prepaid which may be prioritised over JB Hi-Fi Mobile and Boost Mobile in congested areas. There are anecdotal reports of Telstra prioritising emergency services, then Telstra business customers, then Telstra postpaid customers, then Telstra prepaid customers and then Boost prepaid customers. I've tried a phone with a Telstra business account and the download speeds were about 4 times that of my Telstra prepaid. The business phone is an older phone too.

  • Trying to signup for my wife who doesn't have a passport or driver's licence yet but has a NSW Photo Card - no luck. Crazy Boost doesn't accept any other form of IDs.

      • She has Medicare but when signing up the only options provided are "Passport" and "Driver's Licence". Where's the option to buy without any ID or with something else like Medicare?

        https://imgur.com/a/51YPW2j

          • @trixieb: Yep, I followed the correct steps. It seems that buying online isn't possible without a passport or driver's licence.

            https://streamable.com/gw3itu

            • @UrbanLegend: Thanks for the video. Sorry I missed seeing the ID check on the page. Unfortunately you can't use your wife's details to buy without one of those documents. I had bought a similar SIM from Telstra before that didn't have ID check and delivered to my letter box. Probably a mistake.

  • +1

My SIM starter pack was delivered today - fastest I've ever received an item from order to delivery.

    • I'm in Perth and Boost has been delivered in 1-2 business days in the last few months.
