      • +13

        you dropped this \

        • +15

Hahaha it was in the thing I pasted! But thanks forearm that

  • How does the return to base warranty work? Do I have to mail it to you guys and pay the postage?

    • +39

We cover postage to and from, as long as it is a warrantable fault. e.g. faulty motherboard DIMM is warrantable, while grating a zucchini with the rear mesh of the power supply is not warrantable. We also troubleshoot and can and do send replacement parts for users who are confident to self-service as it works out better for everyone.

      • +1

while grating a zucchini with the rear mesh of the power supply is not warrantable.

How do you feel about grating cheese with the rear mesh though?

Is there any ability to change/upgrade the case to a Fractal north for the 4080 / 7800x3d?

    • Interested also

    • +2

Quite a few queries - unfortunately not in the scope of this deal or case that's readily available via distributor which is where we purchase. Best course of action for anyone looking for it would be to purchase and rebuild separately.

  • +9

I won't hijack comment space with full PCPPs, but here are the builds' links:

      They show incompatibilities …

  • +6

    Shots fired.

Paging BPCTech and Nebula for a better gaming PC deal of the year.

    • -2

Don't forget Evatech. They're the most competitive around.

      • ? Evatech?? WHO DAT?

      • +1

        They're the most competitive around.

They've posted two gaming PC deals this year. Compared to BPC, Nebula and TechFast, that's a pathetic level of output and neither of their deals were that great compared to equivalent offerings from competitors.

Are you one of Evatech's alt accounts, brenster? lol.

        • I'm in no way shape of form affiliated with Evatech, I'm just a consumer like everyone else. Why did they get banned again? What didn't you like about them? Just wondering.

          • -3

            @brenster56:

What didn't you like about them?

            You seem to be confused.

You're the one who made the baseless claim that Evatech are the most competitive gaming PC vendor around.

You're the one who needs to backup your assertion.

Why did they get banned again?

Does the scroll wheel on your mouse not work or something?

As I said two posts above, they were banned for sockpuppeting (read the notice on their store page). I don't know about you but any vendor that stoops that low immediately loses all trust/respect in my eyes.

That and the fact they only put out 2 gaming PC deals this year (both of which are very average compared to the deluge of deals we saw this year from TechFast, BPC and Nebula) and none for several years before 2022 makes them one of the lowest-ranked gaming PC vendors on this site in terms of the volume and value of their deals.

Community feedback is also overwhelmingly positive and constant regarding pre-sales and post-sales support from TechFast, BPC and Nebula whereas given the drip-feed posts from Evatech, the same can't be said about them.

In conclusion, Evatech can stick it up their PCIe slots.

            • -1

@Miami Mall Alien: No, YOU seem to be confused because you accused me of being part of Evatech, which I'm not.

I also didn't know what sockpuppeting was, which is why I asked. And FYI I'm using my smartphone to reply to you, smart ass.

I said Evatech were competitive with their deals before when they were around following the rules. Maybe you should learn to read for once!

              • -1

                @brenster56:

No, YOU seem to be confused because you accused me of being part of Evatech, which I'm not.

Obviously in jest but it seems you're confused AND lacking a sense of humour.

I also didn't know what sockpuppeting was, which is why I asked.

So Google it. What are you, a child that needs everything spoon-fed to them?

There's even a link on that store page, on the very word sockpuppeting which directs you to OzBargain's help page explaining what sockpuppeting is and how it's against the site's guidelines.

I said Evatech were competitive with their deals before when they were around following the rules.

                When? Which deals?

                Your claim is nonsense.

Gaming PC deals posted in 2023 thus far:
                TechFast: 53
                BPC: 39
                Nebula: 18
                Evatech: 2

Stop being lazy and make an actual argument instead of just throwing out silly statements like eVaTeCh aRe tHe MoSt cOmPeTiTivE aRoUnD gUys!!1!!

            • @Miami Mall Alien: To be fair, I've clicked the link you've provided twice and still cant see shit on what sockpuppeting is either… also you seem to be a little over the top here.

              • -1

@aaronmr: There's literally a hyperlink on the word sockpuppeting where it appears as the reason for Evatech's ban on their store page that takes you an OzBargain help page which explains it all.

You know… just in case, you can't take 5 seconds out of your "busy" schedule to Google that term.

The fact that both you and brenster can't seem to click on hyperlinks and/or Google things is more a reflection of your failings than mine.

                • @Miami Mall Alien: The fact you're so wound up about it is definitely a reflection of you lol…

FYI you can't see that link @ the top on mobiles btw which is probably why both myself and Brenster couldn't.

                  Stay mad.

                  • -1

                    @aaronmr: Nice projection.

Let me know when you figure out this whole "Internet thing" and finally learn how to click on links and use Google.

FYI you can't see that link @ the top on mobiles btw which is probably why both myself and Brenster couldn't.

That makes zero sense whatsoever but sure… let's pretend it was that and not the fact that you're quite technologically-challenged.

                    • @Miami Mall Alien: Whilst you argue with yourself and make assumptions about others capabilities, I'll quietly know that you are factually incorrect.

Open it on your phone and tell me I'm wrong, you jackass.

                      • -3

@aaronmr: Right and that "issue" prevents you from using Google… how?

                        Goddamned children these days.

  • Hey @luketechfast, I got one of the i9 builds, but missed the expected despatch time. Is it 5-10 days like these or longer/shorter?

    • +2

Same as these, yep. Peak season but everything on hand, so just working through as we can.

  • +1

Is the 4090 a good card in this build , will it handle minecraft and tetris

    • +51

      name checks out

    • Can run 3 levels of tetris with the 16k context in the 24GB vram (slightly more if you run linux).
After this you'll be swapping to system ram, so you'll be counting seconds / frame rather than frames per second…

    • Forget that, it might struggle with Solitaire.

  • Out of interest, can we upgrade a 4080 build to a 4090, and how much extra would we be looking at?

    • +1

only difference i can see b/w the 2 build (apart from GPU)

      1. PSU , you dont want to run 4090 with 750W, you might be able to get away with 850W rather than 1000W used here.

      2. 16 vs 32 GB ram, seriously if you are paying 3K+ for a PC, get 32GB ram, the cost difference is very small.

So i dont see any point in grabbing 4080 build and upgrade to 4090. You will need to upgrade the PSU. and RAM you might as well upgrade (i dont suggest anyone use 16GB ram with such high end CPU+GPU)

      • I got one of the i9 builds last week. Asking in general.

        • +1

most of the price difference in on the GPU. Right now 4080 is about 1800 street price, 4090 is 3000. so 1200 difference.

PSU and RAM difference probably add to like 100 bucks.

  • Likely brand/models for the upgrade to
850W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply?
    Thanks

    • MSI primarily and some XPG Kyber currently on hand but selling through quite fast - checking on what the next will be

      • Thanks

  • +2

Hey @luketechfast, sent an email and DM earlier in the week but no reply yet - just wondering if the i9 4080 build I grabbed on Friday is eligible for the Alan Wake 2 redeem from nvidia?

    • Would like to know as well!

    • +4

Sorry hadn't come across my desk that one - but yep, PNY are thankfully part of local NVIDIA promos these days so you'd hit up their website with whatever proof of purchase the promo requires.

      • +1

Easy as, guess I should play Alan Wake now so I understand the second game haha. @morpheous there's your answer if you didn't see it yet!

      • +1

        For those lazier than I:

        https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/campaigns/alan-wake-2-p…

REDEEM YOUR COUPON THROUGH GEFORCE EXPERIENCE.
        Install your qualified graphics card.
Update or install the latest version of GeForce Experience. (Version 3.18 or higher)
Open and log in to GeForce Experience.
Go to the Account drop-down menu and select “REDEEM”.
Enter your bundle code from your qualifying bundle purchase.
Select “REDEEM” to receive the Alan Wake 2 game code.
Follow the remaining instructions on screen to sign in through your Epic Games Store account.

Someone pleases correct me if this isn't actually the right one.

Edit: but where do we get the game code? 🧐

        • +1

Each manufacturer has their own redemption process, so instructions are here

    • I'm in the same boat, where do we find the game code I wonder…

  • That 4090 deal is cracked. Finally, I will be able to beat my 11 year old nephew at MineCraft.

  • Default build motherboard has only 1 M.2 any option to get one with 2?

Also can we get a option of no OS?

    • The X670 has multiple but the B650 Gaming WiFi is the only board we can get in sufficient quantities/pricing to make it all work at the moment.

No OS should be fine - just request in Order Notes at checkout and we can wipe SSD after testing.

      • would that be cheaper without OS?

        • FYI it says in the 4090 build
"This system comes with Linux Mint Operating system installed by default. You can choose your Operating System below."

          • @aacheney: Yep so Linux is provided at no cost and adds no cost to the build. Removing it wouldn't change anything. We can still wipe the SSD if you need though.

            • @luketechfast: The 4080 config shows win 11 by default? Would this also be a net zero price difference if it can be excluded?

              • @jalalii: They all show as having windows 11 on sale but description says it does not, hence my confusion.

                • @aacheney: Gotcha - incorrectly setup, my bad - all have Linux Mint by default. Resolved.

                  • @luketechfast: So what is the go for people who paid before you fixed it?

                    • +1

                      @aacheney: We'll figure it out

                      • @luketechfast: Looking forward to having 2 techfast PC's in my house.

Son got the i9-13900KF, RTX 4080 and I got the 7800X3D RTX 4090 build.

                  • +1

@luketechfast: Out of interest why don't you guys just install Windows 11 by default and leave it unactivated?

                    • @jace88: I would prefer this if they could do that.

                    • @jace88: It's been said in countless posts by store reps; it's against Microsoft's licensing T&Cs for system builders to install unactivated copies of Windows on systems sold to consumers.

Would Aussie PC vendors ever get caught doing so? Probably not but is it worth the pain in the ass of going through a Microsoft licensing compliance audit and potentially having to pay large sums because some do-gooder snitched on you? Probably not.

                      • @Miami Mall Alien: Thanks. I didnt know but last time i ordered from Techfast they did install windows without activation hence the question

  • Thanks OP! Bought the 4080 7800x3d

    • +1

      Thank you!

  • -8

great deal, but i still prefer this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/812780 when it goes down to $5,000

    • +3

when it goes down to $5,000

And when does your crystal ball tell you that will happen, if ever?

You're on your own with that opinion.

You can easily bump up the RAM and storage of TechFast's RTX 4090 build to match that of the HP unit and you would still come in a few hundred dollars under the price of that HP (especially if you order the parts separately and hunt around for a really good deal on RAM and SSDs). Those are the only real advantages that the HP has over this RTX 4090 custom build.

I think most people would also prefer a custom-built PC for that level of investment that doesn't have all of the limitations of a prebuilt OEM system.

    • +2

Everyone's already clowned you in that post lol I don't know why you would still be trying to defend it

      • -2

        angry gatekeepers

        • What is it you think people are gatekeeping? And from who? And why??

  • Been waiting a reply from Techfast, @luketechfast can you check your private msg please. Thank you.

    • Yep done

  • How long will these sales last?

    • +2

They'll stay live til they sell out.

      • Will you guys have any other similar sales leading up to christmas?

        • Sort of… Not the same, different specs, different prices.

  • Hi OP, I've put through an order but I don't think I have ticked the "post GPU separately". Are you able to help me out on this?

    • +1

Yep, PM me or email [email protected] and we'll sort.

      • +1

What is the benefit of posting the GPU separately? Is it a safety thing? Or is it the only way to receive the box?

        • +2

Generally better for ensuring the GPU and/or PCIE slot are undamaged on arrival. Auspost aren't always the gentlest with handling things. I didn't bother as I'm local to techfast but especially if the delivery was being flown to another state for arrival there's more chance for things to bounce around and end up damaged.

  • Daim. 4K gaming time boys…..

  • Which cooler is the better spec for the PNY 4080s? XLR8 or Verto? Or do they use the same fans..just one has a bigger shroud for the RGB?

    • +2

      Xlr8 cooler is better
If you can get that. Street price xlr8 card is more expensive

  • Been waiting a reply from Techfast, @luketechfast can you check your private msg please. Thank you.

  • Looking for some budget PC's for my 9 and 7 year old anyone seen any during bf or do you have anymore upcoming tech fast?

    • what is the price range?

      • 500-700

        • Bit low my man.

          Do you need GPU?

Otherwise you can get one with 5600G with onbaord graphicx for that price. Maybe DIY it though.

        • +2

Something like this is probably your best bet at that price range, or look on the used market for something a bit better.
