    Good deal for starting out.

    Please add "Costco" in title.
    Thanks. đź‘Ś

great, price going down and down each year, with the same product, irrelevant of the fxxking inflation!

impact works perfectly but he pathetic drill doesn't have a hammer mode which makes it not applicable for masonary works.

    • +2

I was also after a good hammer drill and got DCD805 from TKD Dewalt DCD805
Comes with a battery and charger.

      • +1

yeah, that's the one I'm using, pretty solid and compact size

    • I'm quite new to the new range/age of drills. Wouldn't masonry be one of the main materials for the hammer drill?

      • I would use a SDS rotary drill for concrete and bricks. Makes it a piece of cake if you need to make a lot of holes in those. A non-rotary hammer drill is good for occasional masonry drilling. Takes more time than rotary drills.

      • yes, and this drill in the pack doesn't come with a hammer mode

        • So:
the drill driver is the rotary anvil type which is fine (i've used one and it was great); but the
Impact driver is the 'hammer' type but it doesn't have a 'hammer' mode?

          • +2

@dainese: It's the drill/driver which often has a hammer mode. Not the impact driver.

Here's an article I quickly googled that explains the difference.

            • @tbone74: Sorry got the terminology mixed up. But the drill that should have the hammer function doesn't in this kit. No worries thank you all

          • +3

@dainese: Clarification: This kit comes with two tools: One drill, and one impact driver (used to drive screws, not to drill). You can also use the drill as a screwdriver, but the impact driver makes it quicker and easier.

Now, the drill that comes with the kit doesn't have the "hammer" functionality. I personally find hammer drills underwhelming anyway. If you are frequently drilling concrete/masonry it is better to get a rotary hammer (which is like a mini jackhammer, with a rotating bit).

          • +1

@dainese: Impact and hammer are two different things. Hammer mode will literally hammer the bit into the surface, whereas impact will apply a torque to the bit so it's forced to turn with an "impact".

Edit: I should read all responses before posting as others have stated the same albeit in different words.

For masonry works get an Ozito SDS for $100 and never look back

      • I second this, impact mode on a battery drill no matter how good is going to take 3-4 times as long as a proper sds hammer drill to get into bricks and concrete, and it will destroy your bits and your drill very quickly if you're doing more than 1 hole.

      • I rarely use it but the ozito SDS is a great piece of kit for the low price

Hammer cordless is more than enough for wall plugs etc

    • Which would be your pick out of this one, this Makita kit or the entry level AEG kit?

      • +1

The AEG one is a much better buy in all means, except its eco system is not comparable to other brands here. So if you won't need other tools in thrbfutrue, go for the AEG by all means.

        • Thanks for the advice.
tbh I really don't know whether I'll be needing more battery powered tools in the future. For the work I've got I'll still need a dropsaw and tile cutter in addition to the two drills & grinder but that's about it.

          • @BinaryPirate:

            drop saw
you can get away with an ozito corded one if you don't need to move it around/ work on unpowered sites.

            tile cutter
            these are unpowered from memory

but summing up from the work load you discribed, you are very likely to be needing more tools alongside your work. but the current AEG offer is actually too good to be true so can't see why not buying them

        • AEG is pretty good with their range these days. Apart from quite specialised tools like caulk gun/grease gun I can't think off the top of my head of a common tool (construction or garden) that AEG doesn't have.

I've been very happy with my AEG tools (drill, driver, oscillating Multitool, grinder), but picked up some Milwaukee because (at the time) AEG didn't have a battery framing nailer.

  • I know this says part of BF sales but website seems to say today only. Anyone able to confirm how long this deal is on for?

    • +1

I think the sales are 12 days of Xmas. Other sale days have just been that day. I'll update title.

  • Anyone team up? Around Oakleigh South area.
    Don't need
18V brushless drill driver DCD777N-XE, case and battery.

  • Although posting the item, I'm new to the DeWalt ecosystem. I purchased a skin only chainsaw with redemption DCB546-XE 18V/54V XR FLEXVOLT 6AH BATTERY. I understand that the charger is compatible 18v/54v. Anyone confirm. I think this charger is DCB113.
Impact and drill handy around a campsite.

  • Does anyone know/suggest if i can attach a polisher head to this dewalt n use it for polishing the car?

  • I bought this kit around a year ago, it is just straight up good.

Lots of power in both tools, I've used them quite a lot. 2ah batteries are actually perfect. I was worried they'd run out quickly, but they actually hold charge for an impressive amount of time, and are lightweight. Would not hesitate to buy it again.

    Notes to be aware of:
For the driver, smaller drillbits get sucked into it quite deeply compared to other drivers. Most of the time you don't need a bit extender, but I would recommend having one for this driver to avoid spacing issues EG trying to drive on an angle butted up to the timber:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Yakamoz-Magnetic-Extension-Adapter…

For the drill. It is perfect for pine, hardwood, colorbond, cement products like weatherboard etc. It is not good for masonary drilling or steel drilling like GAL tubing etc.

  • Is there anywhere that sells Costco vouchers to save getting a membership (and yeah, I know you can refund it, but I would rather not do all that if I can help it)

Failing that, anyone heading to Docklands (VIC) this evening that would let me tag along

    • Usually online is $10 more expensive than in store. ("Free" delivery). (Exceptions to the rule are specials that say warehouse only).

Get yourself a friend with a membership, and just pay for it to be delivered

      • This is a one day online only deal, so it is unlikely to be available in store at this price

  • This or Bosch?
    https://amzn.asia/d/17BzUM1

Both are the same price; both are brushless, and Bosch has a hammer function.
Just a need for home improvement.
    What do you recommend?

    • +1

Hammer function would be a deal breaker , if you have to drill through Brick/Concrete - I ended up getting another hammer drill (Dewalt) from Bunnings to add to the collection in a clearance.

    • +1

The quality of the Dewalt products will always be head and shoulders above Bosch's Home DIY range of green tools. Bosch's pro range is more comparable to the Dewalt products.

  • I have got the same one , a month ago for $329 including GST :| .. Very good deal !! Nice tools for home DIYs - no regrets ..

  • How is this compared to AEG ?https://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-18v-brushless-sub-compact-2-piece-combo-kit_p0247587
    Is it worth extra $69?

    • +3

i would say so, also dewalt has a big range of tools. if i was going to pick between the 2, i would go dewalt.

  • OOS now

  • Idk why I didn't buy it. then I ended up spending $400 on aeg
