I plan on selling my BES920 I bought back in Feb 2019 which is still going strong but it's almost 5 years old now and I'm worried about the O ring/leak issues. Hopefully this is new stock from Bing Lee with the updated seals.
I'm in the same situation. I got mine in June 2017 and it's developed a few leaks and pre-infusion doesn't work every time. Been thinking about trying repairs but will just go with new machine now.
Sorry if this doesn't apply but I have the BES870 which was leaking grounds out and couldn't hold pressure. No o-rings replacement or cleaning would fix the leaks.
Stumbled upon this video and tightened three screws and all the leaking went away and I got the pressure back.
I was being quoted several hundred to get it looked at.
Any recommended grinder to go with this one?
I've seen people recommend the Eureka Mignon (550 or so), or the Baratza Encore ESP for a slightly cheaper (but good) alternative (around 350). The Breville smart grinder is good but not considered to be in the same 'tier' as the BDB, but could probably be picked up for $250 if you're on a budget and would like to save for a nicer grinder down the line
The mignon oro single dose took all the aftermarket popular mods and put it in a factory product. Amazing grindder.
If you don't mind single dosing then fellow opus and varia vs3 is a good option.
Eureka Oro Mignon Single was my pick.
That is double/triple the price of what I recommended. At that price I would rather a df64 gen2 with SSP burrs.

You would assume so. I recently bought one from David Jones with a recent batch code. Apparently they get sent out 2 -3 times per year to different stores when stock becomes available so there's rarely any old stock in store. There were no dual boiler's available in my area when I was looking over the last 2-3 months so it should be new stock.

There was a post a few days back that mentioned if the serial number starts with 23xxx or 2209 or later you should be good. Can't find it now after a quick search.

I was going to get the Eureka specialita or whatever it is called for 650ish but I got the Breville smart grinder for 240 delivered from appliances online using a 50 off coupon (they sold out now). Will look the same as the appliance even if it's not as good.

Dunno. If you are not in a hurry in the mornings you can buy the other. WIth this, I can brew and steam at the same time and continue for many cups in succession.
I mostly have espressos and long blacks so not sure if a dual boiler is needed, also takes double the space.
