First time deal poster, hope this is something worthwhile

Can't find many reviews on proper reviewing websites e.g. rtings, but it's sitting at 4.4/5 on the JB Hi-Fi site. Not sure how much worse it is in comparison to the TCL C845 deal here, but it's a fair bit cheaper.

Don't forget about the 15% off discounted TCN gift cards from Coles coming up soon!

  • Good for PS5 gaming?

    • I don't have first-hand experience with the TV so hopefully someone else with the TV can confirm, but this TV advertises itself with VRR and a Low Latency mode, so I'd assume it's good for PS5 gaming

      • All these answers are in the last post where they were a couple hundred cheaper.

    • It has fake 120hz if you need that.

      • sorry what do you mean by that? I noticed it says 100hz on the website

        • 120Hz Refresh Rate can be achieved by unique algorithm and technology.

          On the TCL site

Got the 85" with a series X. Works great.
It's got the 120hz DLG or whatever at 1440p or lower but I don't bother with that.

The ALLM and VRR are pretty decent + Dolby vision.

      • how do you find the brightness? Can it handle a bit of natural light?

        • I'm in a very glass house with natural light everywhere. At 100% brightness I don't see much of an issue. It would be nice to a little brighter but it's nothing I think about on a day to day basis.

We swapped a P745 for a C735 after less than a day. In a bright living room that gets a lot of afternoon sun the P was pretty ordinary, plus the UI was laggy. The C on the other hand hasn't needed to go above 50% brightness and the UI is really snappy.

      • This is good to know! Maybe I will look at the 55 inch TCL here. I'm only 2 metres away from the TV so dont want it too big.

Opt for the c745 as a minimum if you can afford it

yeh i got excited then I saw this is the P not C hahaha.

    • Is the C845 better than the C745?

We are enjoying our 85" P745 from the Leading Edge deal. We are not enthusiasts but are happy with the picture and sound for TV, movies, streaming, etc. Better quality than the Blaupunkt it replaced.

The only annoyance is the laggy software. Still works if you're patient, but you can always resolve this by spending a bit more to use an external stick instead e.g. Google TV 4K chromecast.

    • I have been really happy with my TCL, but agree a Chromecast is a must

    • Just enable app only mode and uninstall unnecessary apps. You will see a major improvement

  • +5

From reviews the P series are junk compared to the C series. If you just want a cheap huge TV, and don't care about hz, blooming or contrast, then you can do a lot worse but personally recommend consider a C series at a minimum.

  • So this would make a bargain outdoor tv?

  • This one decent price. Under $3k for a QLED TV - Samsung 85" Q60C 4K QLED Smart TV 23
