I'm on Turkey ID and it's $4.10 p/mth for Single

    • Similar to Ukraine

    • That’s almost the price of family membership here

  • +1

I paid 189/$3.60 for family using Play Store last month.
Has there been a price hike or is it a itunes tax?

Anyway if you spend more the 20mins/month in YT it's worth it.

    • which bank card r u using?
i was using ing visa card but been rejected in google play.

      • latitude..gets rejected every other month, so just re-add it in. i also have CBA debit card as backup which did work for 3mths

  • I'm on Pakistan family for $2.6. Am i missing something?

    • Similar process different country, or another method?

    • +2

Are you sure it’s family plan? As per this source Family plan there is RS899 (A$4.81) / Month

      • I can confirm family plan is between $4 and $5 depending on the exchange rate.

      • yeah my bad, that was for individual.

        • how to switch from one country to another country plan? currently on Turkey but it's going to increase in Dec, want to change to Pakistan

    • How can I subscribe to YouTube Pakistan?

  • +2

Im on Vanced for $0. 🤭

    • Yes same..
I was joining someone family here for 10 bucks a year then he kick me out the next renewal

    • Vanced doesn't give you YouTube Music though

      • Yea it does? Theres music vanced and youtube. Dont use yt music much though

        • That's not YT Music though, that's just songs form Youtube played through Vanced.

Good luck getting any of that to play on devices such as a Google Home or Chromecast

          • -4

@noisymime: that's exactly what YT music does…. at least when I was using it 6 months ago…. just random music from youtube with videos cut out. not sure what it is today.

            • @HD9990: YTM has Songs and Videos.

I'd imagine songs will use less data when out and about compared to videos but I could be wrong.

      • +1

Or just download innertune which pulls music from youtube music and is open source 😉

    • +1

      Or smarttube on GTV

    • Yea vanced has been good so far for me too. But recently its saying video not available on this app watch on the latest any ideas?

  • i am on this for more than 2 years now, using play store, even my credit card was cancelled, but i ignored the emails and messages and it kept going, they just after a week took the money and gave up contacting me :). and then my card expired,i just updated payment method and added new card a year ago, still working like a charm.

note, did the method on computer.

  • Just checked my bank statement - my indian account is only $2.53/m

Is there any way to upgrade to a family account without jeopardising my current setup?

  • What do people actually use Youtube Premium for?

    • +13

      Not watching commercials

    • +7

Youtube is 90% of the media I consume. For $2.50 a month to not have ads as well as all the other perks (better video quality, background playing etc) it's an expense I'd never consider being without.

    • +5

      no ads + youtube music

    • +1

Youtube is the most used app on my phone and TV. No ads, and I have added my friends as family members, in exchange for their netflix access. Win win

  • Slight OT from this specific deal but my 1yr sub via India ends next month and it's seems to have worked out I'm not there as it's only steering me to a new $16.99 price when I look at the manage membership page.
Are they locking it down a bit now?

    • +1

The difficulty now is finding a payment method that works in India.

      • ING debit card works.
Easiest way will be to open up an Indian Google account via VPN.
And add ING or any (I have tried HSBC/credit union) debit/credit cards.

  • It's still about $3.70 for family in India for me subscribing through youtube.

  • Do you know if there is an annual option

  • No explanation on how to proceed after Apple ID & Amazon to get YouTube Premium.

" Follow this guide for in-depth instructions " is only for Apple TV.

    • Follow the guide to create and load your apple ID with gift cards, then open up Youtube app and subscribe.

      • Tried it but keep getting " Your request could not be completed at this time.Your account cannot be created at this time ".
I don't use Apple products so not sure if that's the problem.

        • Try a different browser or device with private window

          • @Pricebeat: Can I add more members to my Google family later on?

              • @Pricebeat: Why do we need to set up the Google Family group before signing up for the family account?

                • +1

@ethannguyen: People were having issues adding new family members to group after signing up. But seems to be working for me now. YMMV

      • How do you add apple ID as payment method when you sub from YT ?

  • Anyone know how to upgrade to a family plan from a single but still keep the same setup?

I'm on turkish youtube but would like to upgrade to family

    OzBargain YouTube Premium Status Summary

    • Subscribing to India, Turkey, Argentina will require a payment method from the corresponding country. (i.e. You need a credit card from India to sign up for the Indian Premium price). If you are pay these prices then wear your OzBargain badge with pride.
    • Countries like Ukraine, Pakistan, Egypt, Phillipines still work with an overseas payment method, but you will need an VPN to register for it.
    • From what I've heard from others, you pay more if you sign up via Apple. (No surprises there)
    • The cheapest individial YouTube Premium with the least hassle to sign up for is most likely Pakistan (PKR479/month ≈ A$2.63). I have tested this myself 2 weeks ago.
    • They will probably keep patching more countries later on until this loophole is gone, so enjoy whilst you can.

I've listed some basic instructions here to sign up to Pakistan, but flick through the other comments for more insight.

    • Yeah i followed this worked for me. I used an oz credit card and worked fine. some people reporting that upcard works fine and no international fees.

    • +1

I think virtually all countries require a VPN now to sign up, certainly Turkey and Argentina do. Also worth noting is that Meta blacklist a lot of the more popular VPNs as part of the sign-up process. If you get an error saying that your location can't be verified, try a different VPN

    • Thank you! After Turkey stopped working for me I couldn't get it working any other way. Didn't even occur to me to use Firefox. Chrome just timed out at payment for me.

    • +1

Initially stuck with the "save card" step, gave me some error. Finally read another comment that disable VPN before save card fixing the issue.

    • Legend, worked for me, along with shiningblade's help to disable VPN before saving card

  • +3

Finally figured out how to get a ReVanced experience on iOS (no ads for free plus all the other cool stuff like ad/promo skip in video)
    Plug iPhone into Macbook
Install Altstore (altstore.io) on Macbook and iPhone
Find zxcvbn's tweaked IPAs Telegram group
Download the latest modded youtube.ipa build from there
    Install this build via Altstore
Boom, modded YouTube app that, so far, is even better than ReVanced with the level of customisation and ad-freeness!

    • +4

Can you really trust an app that you got from a telegram group? I certainly wouldn't.

      • Don’t know about trust but I’d rather pay a few bucks a month than dealing with altstore. Each to their own.

      • -2

I trust the way I found it and the user feedback.

      • I stopped reading after he mentioned telegram group lol

Plot Twist - he's the owner of that group lol

      • I wouldn’t. There’s this open source(?) repo with builds though https://github.com/qnblackcat/uYouPlus

  • +1

The first comments always make want to finally try doing this, then I keep reading and find the comments where people has troubles doing it and I give up everytime

    • +1

This should work without any issues and no VPN required. Also no issues of updating expired cards later on.

    • The 85% bump in price was enough to convince me it was worth moving to the Australian High Commission in Pakistan.

  • youtube can kiss my ass!!

  • How do I switch from a Turkey Individual Plan to another country? Currently am on an annual plan which expires in April 2024.

Can I load up another few years before then? Or do I have to wait for it to expire. Kinda worried that by then, these methods will be patched out :(

    • I have the same query, want to switch form Turkey to Pakistan. SHould I deactivate first & then subscribe again to Pakistan? Anybody tried that?

Do I need to add a payment profile with Pakistan?
      And close Turky payment profile?

If someone can share tested steps

  • Do any of the options include annual plans or are they all individual?

  • I dont think this works for android. Has anyone managed to get past where you load the gift card onto your Apple ID?

  • Cant create indian AppleID. tried 3 different web browser and their incongnito modes without the vpn (dont have any VPN Atm), throws an error :

Your request could not be completed at this time.
Your account cannot be created at this time.

    Any Suggestions.

    • Try itunes on windows?

      • Made it work by going thru Pakistan. Thanks for the post. Now whole family is happy.

  • My visa card cannot pay. Any suggestionn

    • Try wise or revolut.

  • +1

I spent about an hour trying to get this to go through, first India then Turkey with different VPNs and payment profiles and cards, no luck! Then I tried a Ukrainian address using UrbanVPN (free), set up a new payment profile , and it went through on my Australian card straight away. It's a little more expensive (~$4/month) and there was no option for a yearly subscription, but it'll do for now.

  • -2

So is this working for people or not anymore? Seems like nearly everyone says they had issues and went with another country

    • -2

I don’t see a single comment saying that

      • -2

Are you serious? badwiring, ashikk which you literally replied to above me even, Looty just to name the ones on the same screen as my comment, without the need for scrolling… I understand saying it should still work but saying "I don't see a single comment saying that" when you have 2 people mentioning Ukraine and Pakistan right above you is just silly to even state. I appreciate you trying to help but get a grip man, your post was posted a week before Scrooge McDeal's Pakistan method and his has nearly 350 upvotes vs the 22 here. That is why I checked if it worked first before buying gift cards off of Amazon India.

        • -2

Are you serious or have problems with comprehension? Show me a comment that says they tried this method and didn’t work? Because you are the one saying

Seems like nearly everyone says they had issues and went with another country

badwiring literally is talking about using VPN on their google account to try it. Not the method posted here (Apple method)

Ashikk had problems creating apple ID. User specific issues.

So where is this everyone you are talking about?

          • -2

@Pricebeat: Right… While I agree people are normally bad at following directions, everyone mentioned was just not following the method on a post but magically managed to follow no method specified to get it to work in other countries? Even if you know something more about it (which at this point I am not too certain you do), you can state it should still work, people that had complaints didn't follow the guide properly or made mistakes. Not be a snarky (profanity) talking about semantics. Even then you are just blatantly wrong, my statement was:
"nearly everyone says they had issues and went with another country"

We are in comment section not court, they didn't specifically state "I tried this method and it didn't work" because it should be a given they are trying the method in the post they are commenting on. Same way when I said "nearly everyone", I was implying the last few people who commented most recently.

badwiring statement in short was : "I spent about an hour trying to get this to go through no luck! Then I tried a Ukrainian address and it went through on my Australian card straight away". Has no mention of any google account but even if it did, still fits the exact meaning of what I said.

Ashikk had issues, user specific or not, still had issues with steps in your guide. Regardless of where and stated "Made it work by going thru Pakistan", thus fitting the "had issues, went with another country" statement. Who is to say others wouldn't have the same user specific issues?

Looty had issues, taker312 wanted to go through Pakistan instead of country named by you even though yours would be cheaper. So yes, not everyone was bright or understood the steps, but clearly people have issues with several things here.
How dense do you have to be to not get someone asking for clarification on the method working from the users of the said method, before TOPPING UP THE CARD FIRST, and THEN checking if it would work?? If 6 different people are talking about issues in one way or another and a random comment from another user (Kyou mo Kawaii in this case) talking about a different method had over half the amount of likes than your post, no shit people would be worried. Again, you posted your workaround a week before Scrooge McDeal did AND yours is cheaper. Yet he has 343 upvotes on his post and you have 22. Why do you think that is?
While not of any real significance here, the fact that you also have more dislikes on your comments (even if its just 1 more) compared to me should make you think man… I am not here to argue with you, I even said I appreciate you trying to help out, but your attitude just sucks.

            • @PuppetMaster000: I would reply to each and every paragraph individually but I think it would be easier to just say it straight, that not all of these users own an Apple device or want to create a secondary Apple ID. That is also why the other post has more likes. Plus I don’t care much about likes. I state whatever the way it is and that doesn’t attract much likes. Which is again what I don’t care about.

Lotty is trying an Apple method on an Android. How do you think that is going to workout?

About more dislikes on my comments, there is a (profanity) that is following my comments and disliking most of them and not just on this post, so there’s that.

              • @Pricebeat: I respect this. You were direct and covered the important parts. I agree, as mentioned before, likes are not a measure of importance. You may be completely right that it is due to Apple devices or creating another account, I wouldn't know but can see that to be the case. My goal really wasn't to argue or to have any animosity, so I apologize as well for the unnecessary name calling. I could have done a much better job myself relaying my worries.

So to move to more constructive conversation, I will say from my standpoint, I would have really liked if you could do a bit more detailed step by step guide instead of a link to another guide. If nothing else, it helps mentally when everything is in front of you and becomes easier to follow when the guide states it is for the purpose of Youtube Premium instead of Apple TV. You did state everything that matters in short, but I know a lot of my friends would struggle following this if I sent them the post with instructions. Just my suggestion, no judging.

I am contemplating doing this method because it is somewhat of a prepaid service instead of autopay every month when needed type of thing. I like to top up once and be done instead of every month. If it had a yearly plan, I would for sure go for it, but if they patch this up and it stops working, you can have funds "stuck" from purchasing them through Amazon India. Plus there have been reports that sometimes, Youtube checks the location your family members are watching from and can lock them out if it doesn't match the main users IP, which adds another risk to prepaying. I might be wrong but that is how I see it being.
The big positive would be that since you don't need any payment method on your Google account, adding family members to the Google family shouldn't have any issues. Normally with the Pakistan method, you need the payment profile to also be Pakistan on all of them to properly add family members, but with this you SHOULD be fine just setting everything up as Australian.

If you know more about any of these points, I would appreciate your input, otherwise again, I mean no disrespect and appreciate your help. Wish you all the best.

  • Just tried this (23rd Jan) and can confirm it works.

Previously had an annual subscription via India which expired yesterday. I followed the steps in the guide, (bought gift cards, made new apple account, log in with new account via Apple Music, add funds and Indian address, etc, etc,) and I now have premium status back on my account. Currently costing me 169 INR ($3.10 AUD per month)

    Thank you!!!

    • can you watch YouTube Premium on other devices ie. Smart TV, Android phones etc?
Or you can only watch it on iPhone & iPad? Can you cast to TVs, LG, Sony & Google TV please?
      Many thanks!

      • +1

Any device. Premium is linked to YouTube account not device

    • When I try to subscribe to Youtube premium, it asks me for either paypal or CC, how do I get that link with Apple Tv? so confused with this bit.

  • So I didn't quite read the post properly, and with my annual sub coming due I couldn't renew via Wise as the card address isn't in India thought this method would keep me in premium.

I now have an Indian Apple ID, a bunch of rupees but no apple phone. Can I simply borrow an old iPhone, load up YT and log in there and make payment?

    • Same boat, didn't realise that I was going to need an iphone while reading the linked guide…
I'd imagine you need a vpn as well to get the youtube app to show indian prices? I'll see if I can source an iphone to continue lol

      • If I have an apple id, do I still need to make an Indian apple id?

        • I would assume so, because you need to redeem indian currency apple cards. But again I haven't been able to get to the last step of buying youtube premium

  • thanks mate. i spoke to my brother & added his card to my google pay with VPN on & got 1 year YT!!! Love Bombay with Youtube Music.

My previous YTP account got suspended yesterday morning, in which I was able to VPN to Ukraine and purchased a monthly subscription around $3.7 using NAB card.

Spent half day today and finally worked out bellow way :

Go VPN(I use NordVPN) to Ghana,
use firefox to register Google account,
Use AU mobile to receive OTP to complete registration
In Google account, add payment method to put faked Ghana address with AU visa card (my NAB card works, CBA card not working).
Go YouTube - membership and subscription - you will see the monthly fee change to Ghana currency
Individual around $2.8 and family around $3.8
    Enjoy
Hope this can help anyone looking for a cheaper option

  • worked for me today, following a Youtube video j6lvvZRP2Bs After Work Arcade posted a video on the 19th of May last month.

I was trying to do the family version, I used UrbanVPN unfortunately they don't have Ghana or Sri Lanka so I used Pakistan and entered Pakistan address and postcode, and Revolut card.

Trying to get YouTube premium was not working on the music site so I went to the YouTube site and then manage membership and then it worked.

  • Still working as of late June '24

  • Bah…I was on the cheap South African Rand!
Renewed using the same card, using the same Google account via Taiwan.
It's cheaper than the Mexican in the other one stated and still half the price of AUD.

I am with an Aus bank with no FX fees and uses the mid market exchange rate (Up!, Macquarie also use no FX fees and uses the mid market exchange rate)

Used Tunnelbear VPN (one of the more reputable free VPNs) for both.
We'll see how long this goes for.

Using an Apple device so switching Apple ID isn't really a viable option and I really CBF'ed signing up to a Revolut card.

I've just been deported from India after a few good years. Oh well. Maybe try Pakistan?

    • Same but turkey, it want a turkey payment method now.

      • If you just load using Turkish apple gift cards it should work fine
