Finally got this to work after getting my hands on an iphone 6 lmao

Follow the steps as linked in the apple tv india route to step 4, then:

    1. sign in to the app store using your indian apple ID
    2. sign in to google / youtube with your desired account (might be a family leader account if that's the way you wanna go)
    3. activate an Indian vpn, for me I had to hotspot from Winscribe app on windows connected to India
    4. load the YT app on the iphone while connected to the vpn, it should display YT premium prices in rupees
    5. purchase YT premium through the app (it should link back to your indian AppStore which will have the currency from the above steps, no CC needed)

    Done

    • Bless your kind soul, this has worked for me. The only complication is that it wont let me buy an individual membership. I can however by the family membership. I might try cancelling and renewing to individual in the future but for now I am just happy to be back in my Indian home.

      • I also bought family so can't speak to the individual membership issues

      Can I skip step 3? I don't have VPN.

      • I couldn't get it to work without one, but you can try. The issue is that when I went onto the youtube app it would show the aus prices and wouldn't link back to the app store.

    • Absolute legend, saved my YouTube premium! Just need to remember to redeem Indian Amazon gift cards every now and then.

    • Thanks worked perfectly.

    • Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm seeing UK prices for some reason while connected to either Indian nodes via Windscribe. Regarding your step(s) 2 and 4, don't you need to sign into the YT app anyway, so how come you sign in before loading the YT app?

Seems I'm seeing the correct pricing now, weird.

    • many thanks - worked just now

My family plan of INR189 will increase to INR299 per month stating in October.

    • Have you gone through the process of accepting the new price and did it manage to save it?

      • It went through and saved- yes

        • Did you use a VPN? And what cc are you using? Mine doesn't seem to save. Thanks.

    • My Indian account (YT Family for INR189) got cancelled, so I changed my payment method to Apple Pay on my India Apple account and that resolved it, although now paying INR249.

However I just now got an email saying they are increasing YT Family from ₹249.00/month to ₹389.00/month. Interestingly, they are offering a discount if I pay directly through Google Pay rather than Apple Pay (₹299.00/month). But that will defeat the purpose of paying through Apple to avoid being cancelled again…

  • Prices have gotlne up to 389 for family. Still way cheaper than $33aud

  • Thank you. I managed to subscribe to YouTube Premium Monthly, but it's now ₹195. I only have ₹999 in my India Apple ID account, and I'm wondering how it will work once the balance runs out. Is it possible to pay with Australian cards? Thanks in advance

  • I received an email from YouTube about the Premium Family subscription increasing to ₹299 per month. It's a monthly charge, and while my Amex card is linked, it hasn't been billed yet. I'll accept the increase and see how long this arrangement lasts.

Has been on ₹189per month for family plan since 2019 and now increased to ₹299 per month from last night's email. Honestly, still the best value regardless.

  • Not sure what I was on for my single plan, but just got informed of an increase to ₹149/month. Accepted without VPN no dramas, so hopefully good to carry on with business as usual.

  • Is this only expired due to post date? Or does the method not work any more?

    • edit - yup, still works. indiv plan is now 195 INR (about $3.43) a mth

  • Can’t create an Indian Apple ID. Apple won’t send the email verification code, how did you guys do it?

  • Has anyone done this recently ?

I'm unable to create an Indian Apple ID. I get the confirmation email and SMS message, but then I get a message that my account cannot be created.

Am I missing something, or has this been stopped ?

  • I've got a single user at the rate of 149 INR… is it worth risking it to try and go up to the family plan? Sounds like lots of people are getting knocked back
