This is the best price I've seen for this model for the last few years. Possibly the lowest price so far. Usually dispatched within 2 to 5 weeks.

Zoom H4n Pro can be used as an audio interfaces as well as a stand alone USB mic.

The only reason I'm not buying one is because I bought a AKG Lyra for cheaper thanks to the link posted here by @cvaz and it satisfies my non-portable needs (sans a clipping indicator) at a lower price point.
But this one is much more versatile and gives you the option of upgrading the microphone or adding more microphones/inputs without having to buy another audio interface.

It doesn’t support 32bit. Not worth

Learn how to record properly and it's great

  • Got mine for 245 in June!

  • I often test audiophile equipments by changing position, cables, and other components. I would like to AB test the changes. Is this recorder able to capture enough details for me to perform such AB testing?

    • I doubt it

      • Any recommendations?

Sorry, no. I can't imagine any mic and recorder combo is going to compare to your ears.

Great price. I’ve owned the Zoom H4N for about 10 years and it’s been very reliable as a handy portable recorder for live music performances, interviews, on-camera mic etc. Such a versatile device.

    • Would you reccomend this over AKG Lyra for video calls?

I'd prefer a dynamic mic but I seem to have misplaced my Behringer UMC22 audio interface and my Sennheiser e935 when I changed places. I'm not a musician, so a lower cost, smaller setup is more practical now.

The Zoom recorder is a portable multi-track audio recorder with a couple of small microphones built in at the top - It's not a competitive product with a desktop condenser microphone.

        • True. I was just thinking that the output wouldn't be that off since the Lyra also uses 4 small condenser capsules (not the large diaphragm type).
Other specs are better in Lyra. 24bits over 16bits as I remeber. So I'd keep it for my use case.

Last time I looked at the Lyra the reviews were all over the shop.

        • I also prefer the sound of some Audio Technica ones in comparison samples. But for the price I got, no real competition. It's either Blue Yeti Nano or this.

      • +1

I’ve never used the Lyra, but I think you’d be better off with a proper desktop microphone rather than a portable.

        • Yeah for my usage it's probably better.
