TCL C845 MiniLED TV 50" $1050, 55” $1275, 65" $1580, 75" $2398, 85" $3320 + Delivery ($0 to Select Cities) @ Appliance Central

340

Been looking for deals to upgrade my 50" Hisense TV to one 65 " UHD TV for a while.

Noted that TCL C835/C845 series are highly recommended by many Ozbargainers.

So keep checking related deals, I found this TCL C845 promotions on Appliance Central.

I compared with history price of C845 in OzBargain, this deal (65" TV) seems to get very close of the lowest price ever.

And it is Free Shipping to my home, Inner-west area of Sydney.

Is this deal good enough or shall I wait for upcoming Black Friday?

  • I seem to recall tcl had much better deals this time last year because of their house racing sponsorship

    • +7

      House racing lol

    • Ok, so this is a bit far away from history lowest price? Thank you

  • I'm still stoked that I got the 85" C845 for $2556.80 plus $69 delivery. How can TV prices jump up and down so much?

    • wow, $2556.8 for 85" C845? which year may I ask?

JB Hifi - 5 July 2023. Had to add a $159.20 sound bar to get the price. Delivery was $68.99. Awesome TV. I no longer bother to use a soundbar.

    • How does it compare to your older TVs? I assume you've previously used a 2010-ish era backlit?

  • Hope to see some good deal on 98/100inch TV

  • 50inch seems like an all time low yeah?

I think this is a new addition to the line up. I did a quick eyeball on the specs VS the bigger models and confirm there are differences. If it matters to you, the connectivity is limited to wifi 5 and Bluetooth is maybe a revision earlier. The biggest impact is lower nits (550 VS 800 for 65") and contrast ratio (5000:1 VS 7-8000:1). Maybe someone can confirm if this downgrade is material but it seems you are losing more than just screen real estate.

For anyone that's seen the MiniLED 845's in action - how do they compare with budget backlit 2023 tvs? Will it be a dramatic bump in quality? Especially because I'm still consuming a lot of 1080p / non 4K content.

I'm deeply considering A7KAU 75 inch, because I think they might dip below $1k. My budget 2010 Sony is pretty cooked - even though the A7KAU is backlit, I imagine there's still been improvements over the past 10 years to the cheapest TVs? Or is it Mini LED or bust once you've experienced it?

    • I have the 65" C835 miniLED for almost a year and the quality is outstanding for the price. Much better contrast compare to non-miniLED and no need to worry about OLED burn-in. But honestly, for TVs tech comparison, you can simply walk in any store and see for yourself if it worth upgrading.

      • I've done that, and will do so again. i just find that they're displaying optimal demo reel content, I'd rather they play movies.

I usually rock up with streaming device, even took a XSX and played some games once at a JB Hifi, the young sales dudes enjoyed the distraction. As the buyer, you're usually able to get the remote from a salesperson and disable all the PQ ruining TV settings. If you also go prepared with a streaming box or console to watch realistic content and get the remote so you can disable certain image processing settings, you can then make a really well informed decision.

          • @sickaunt: Reckon you could just chromecast to them, check out what regular Youtube content would look like for example?

    • This tv is astounding for the price

It's equal in it's back light control the samsung

Not as good as sonys x95 series

      Some slight halo issues

TCL falters with post processing, pump in 4k source you wont have any issues, upscaling FTA and 1080p it starts to get a little squizzy in fine details but not enough for the average user to notice

      For miniled tvs

      Right now probably goes

      X95/TCL QM/Hisense 8/845

      • Do we sell qm series in Au’s ? I’ve been trying to look for this damn tv

  • My 85C845 is being delivered today.
The 85c845 was $3995 and then 20% off on the Frenzy sale that ended 26th October bringing it down to $3196 which also netted you a $200 JB gift card (or TCL cashback through different stores).

I ended up paying $3170 from JB hifi (delivered) price matching Appliance Central on 26th October and then receiving a $200 JB gift card, which I used towards the TV mount.

    • You couldn't even wait until black friday?

      • That was on the cards, but I guess I finally pulled the trigger.

Originally I had ordered through Appliances Online for - but it was backordered to Nov/Dec giving me the option to cancel for free and rebuy at potentially lower black Friday sales (although missing out on the $200 cashback)

        • When I checked that deal, they were back ordered until December I think. I can't remember if I was looking at the 75 or 85 though. Both were very good prices.

Can't go wrong with the c845… TCL did release some new TVs with different processors though, would be interesting to see the incremental improvements.

I've had two tcls in the past, love them, looking forward to upgrading to mini led very soon .

          • @TEER3X: The other consideration with the A.O backorder til December was that I would receive it too late to claim the TCL cashback. Whilst JB's offer was only a gift card, I needed to purchase more from them anyway so I got to utilise the $200

How is the motion when watching sports on these? Anyone seen it compared to say an X90L? Obvs not gonna be as good as Sony, but can someone knowledgable give an opinion on how far off they are? Cheerskaunt

    • If I am to choose between 85-inch TCL c845 and 85-inch Sony X90L for the same price, my answer would definitely be Sony. I saw an offer to purchase box damaged 85 X90L from Sony on Ebay for $3200ish a couple of days ago. Which is even cheaper than this TCL offer. Still too expensive I think. Waiting for Black Friday… :)

      • The Sony is just regular backlit?

        • It is full array LED. It does perform very well though, better than some of the mini-LEDs. The only drawback to me is blooming which can be worse than in some miniLEDs. To me, if blooming is seen on the screen, doesn't really matter if it is big a small. I think it either exists or not like in OLEDs.

      • This

        100 percent

sony are still, and likely never to be dethroned the processing kings

TCL image processor in laymans terms is about 2018 quality, the sony is next gen

the TCL is fine, only times i seen issues on them is stuff like the expanse where the miniled algoritih can falter a bit.

Make sure you check the energy consumption on the Mini LED TVs … they are pretty power hungry! (Not so bad for the occasional movie … but when you watch a lot it's something to consider!)

    • The reason being how ridiculously bright Mini LED’s can get. I typically run my 55 C835 (which is our main TV) at 8 - 20% brightness for TV/movies, and 30 - 60% for gaming. Nothing to do with energy consumption, it’s just all that is needed. The C845 is far brighter than C835. My last quarterly energy bill was $140 and the TV is in far more than I’d like to admit.

      • Did you notice the energy bill difference compared to your previous TV? Albeit it might be hard to calculate with inflation.

  • rtings hasn't reviewed this model? does anyone have a good review?

    • i think rtings only do US model

  • You know, TCL mini LED range is really great from a hardware perspective. But afa software is concerned, it’s a shit show. And no, it doesn’t get resolved by plugging in a Fire TV/Apple TV either.

I have the C825 and while I honestly love the picture quality, every time I encounter a glitch I feel like I should’ve gotten the full array dimming Sony instead.

    Issues:
Hey Google gets triggered on its own. If you turn it off, there’s an ugly LED light which will stay on and look awkward,

Actual fu**ing advertisement popups (even when watching an external source)

Can’t control the brightness in Dolby Vision mode

    Etc etc

    • I have this TV and don’t agree with you on any point.
      Do you have a C845?

Plugging an Apple TV in solved almost all my gripes with this TV. Sure, the menus and settings are poorly laid out and labeled. But I worked it out quickly enough.

Brightness can’t be controlled in Dolby Vision on my Sony X95G either. At least this C845 lets you choose Dolby Vision Dark or Dolby Vision Bright.

I don’t get the full screen advertisements. Maybe I turned this off. Try googling that one. It’s just Android TV so the ads are only on the Home Screen, which I don’t use, as I have the Apple TV.

  • How does this compare to X90L?

  • Would this be good to hook up with a ps5 like the previous gen with variable refresh rate?

    • That’s what I use mine for. It’s great. This C845 supports all PS5 features (ALLM, 120hz, 1440p, VRR, etc.). Just ensure you use the HDMI you got with the PS5, or another 40Gbps equivalent.

  • I could be wrong but I suspect the c845 models will be cleared in the coming months to make way for the next gen tcls, which just started popping up over Europe.

    • yeah im defs waiting until december
      christmas sales coming

    • what is the model of the next gen? C855???

      • C755 and C955

  • Will the 75” be any cheaper during Black Friday?

    • Possibly their delivery charge, they wanted to tack $20 on for that until I asked to pick up in store. (If your using the above store in the above comment)

I am in Victoria and they agreed, in another state they might not.

  • I am in Vic as well, will try again tomorrow and see if its different rep.

  • Any thoughts on LG UR8050 vs TCL 50C845?

    • I did not do research for LG series

  • Just bought the 50" model through the JB website. Used the live chat to try and get them to price match the appliance central price of $945. Not only were they happy to match the price they ended up doing it for $897.98. Which I wasn't expecting them to come in under $945.
