710

I'm not good at editing the title and description, but I'm trying to make it clear.

Hisense and TCL TV are on sale at JB HI-FI at 20% off (ends today). Take an extra 20% off if you purchase a TV and Soundbar of the same brand. Promotion ends 12 July 2023.

TCL S522W 21ch 200W soundbar $199

It brings C845 from 1995 to 1276.8. The total price, with the cheapest sound bar, is $1436.
Maybe there is a better TV deal starting tomorrow.

  • Thoughts on this TV? Has RTINGS done a review on this?

  • Is there a similar deal for the 85”?

    • +2

yep it works for the 85" - brings the total down to $2716 with the soundbar

    • +3

Yes, 20% off on TV ($3196 at this moment) + an extra 20% off with the cheapest soundbar ($199). The total price is 2,716.00.

  • +1

    Nice deal

  • +2

    75" with soundbar $2,076.00, 85" with soundbar $2,716.00

  • C845? Whats the difference between this and the C835????

    • +3

brighter and more dimming zones (same no leds tho) iirc

    • -6

      2022 Vs 2023 model

    • +6

Twice the peak brightness, twice the dimming zones.

There's a few other minor upgrades, but those are the two that will most greatly affect the picture.

      • -1

        Faster processor

    • Was in good guys yesterday and they had a flyer that explained:
      C735 FALD:NO , Refresh Rate : 100 CMR
C845 FALD: YES, Refresh Rate : 144 hz

      • That's 735 which is the tier below

  • Now that is an amazing deal. Especially after just ordering a Samsung 65QN90b.

    Expected.

    • +2

you won't be disappointed, my parents have the 835c and I have the qn90b, there is no comparison. You have a much better tv and I don't regret paying 1.5k more at all

      • Im in the same vote, I ordered a Samsung 65QN90B for $1649 - I also ordered the TCL 75C845 last night and now I need to cancel one and I cant decide.

What size is your Samsung and what size is your parent's C835 and what do you think is the better TV and why?

        • As above the Qn90b.

      • The 845 is quite the upgrade, has a similar amount of dimming zones to the QN90B

  • This TV has pretty good speakers. A cheap sound bar would be a waste of money unless you have a cheap TV you could use it with

    • -1

But you get the 65c845 for $1436 regardless.

    • +10

without soundbar it cost $160 more

  • +1

some people say they don't like TCL in previous 835 model listing

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770191

    • I have a TCL835, and I would have to say it's probably the best TV you could buy under $1500. Nothing competes with it at this price point.

      • +1

Normally I would concur, but what about a Samsung 65" QN90B (2022) with an MSRP of $3299 that is offered directly from Samsung AU for $1649 - what's the better deal now? Are they comparative TVs or is one just highly over-inflated and riding the coat tails of their brand name?

        • +1

I mean its inflated sure, (which is probably why they are trying to offload it because it most likely didn't sell too well).
But it's still Samsung's 2022 flagship QLED TV. $1650 is an insanely good price for it regardless. I'd probably go the samsung as that sort of price is generally unheard of. The TCL C845 is the best value at normal/standard pricing.

Hell, you could probably sell the QN90B for $1600 second hand lol. If not more.

    Detailed review : https://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&i…

Looks like the processor has been upgraded and crossing fingers up scaling/motion handling has improved.I pulled the trigger on the 75". Was dubious about the 835 due to these issues, but going to take a punt. Coming from a SONY KD-65X9000H

    • +1

Always a better deal around the corner with TVs. JB normally look after their customers. Give them a chat.

      • +1

yea very true, generally always going down in price

        • I also just ordered a Samsung 65 inch yesterday. This deal has me wondering that’s for sure!

    • How is the overall picture quality as well as screen reflection on a brightly lit room? Please share your experience.

  • +8

Have had my eye on the c845 series. Not a lot of reviews but they are sounding pretty positive.

    Found these in whirlpool thread.

Damn you ozbargain… 85 incher ordered

    • Does it come up as 2 separate lines on the receipt/order?

  • Thanks, bought this combo to replace my 12yo LG 3D TV that lost sound a few months ago lol
    It's time!

Edit: Said delivery by end of August but just got a text saying this Friday 👍

    • what size did you buy?

      • +3

65" (to replace my old 47")

    • Does it come up as 2 separate lines on the receipt/order?

      • Yes

    • What's the delivery price coming up? Mine showing $68.99 for the delivery.

      • +1

        Same.
Had an old $50 gift card to soften that blow

        • That's nice, definitely soften most of the blow :)

          • @buddysayshi: Delivered
Funny, A truck came with the TV then an hour later a Van came with the sound bar

  • Any major difference between the c series and the p series, apart from price? P series much cheaper.

    • +2

C series, specifically the C845, has full-array local dimming, a much brighter screen, better reflection handling and a faster processor.

    • P series is cheap entry level, C series is a great mid range set

  • Good deal :)

  • Looking to replace a Panny Plasma to reduce power consumption. Am I reading it right that this TV would consume as much (or more in some cases)?!

  • +1

Bought 75 c835 recently and I can notice the picture lag.. most of the reviews were positive but not sure how no one reported it.. switiching between options is very slow sometimes.. definitely feel the quality difference between the big brands and TCL. I should have bought sony 75 x90k.. regret it.

    • I read that C845 has more powerful processor, so hopefully it is much snappier.

      • It's same processor. Different software algorithms - aipq 2.0 vs 3.0.

        • Where did you read about the same processor?

Even on JB Hi-Fi description it says "Prepare to be captivated by stunning visuals brought to you by the new TCL AiPQ Processor 3.0".

          • @buddysayshi: That's to do with graphics/upscaling/motion handling(maybe) ect, the lag comes from the CPU overloading or not disappating heat efficiency or low ram or a small cache, the 845 has the exact same CPU as the 835. I doubt the menu delay/lag has been remedied.
I have an older TCL that's performs similar and it's not really an issue.

          • +1

            @boxall: TCL 65C845 – Image Processing
The image processing largely follows last year’s performance, which is no surprise since the device works with the same chipset.

            SoC….MT9615 Platform (MediaTek MT9615 aka MT5889)

What chipset is TCL C835 MediaTek?
The C835 TVs are powered by the AIPQ 2.0 Engine with AI SR processor based on the MediaTek MT9615 chipset with a 1.6GHz quad-core CPU and a 550MHz dual-core Mali-G52 GPU.
            https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/news/c4587a8#:~:tex….

TCL C845 uses the MediaTek MT5889 SoC with 3GB of RAM and roughly 21GB of free storage after setup – a little more storage than many other Google TVs but still not a lot. TCL has yet to detail plans to transition to MediaTek's newer and more powerful Pentonic chips, so what you get in C845 is a chip fairly similar that the chips in Google TVs from Sony and other wellknown brands. It is a decent chip for video streaming and similar tasks, but it is only powerful enough to run simple games.

            • @Nielolee: is the chromecast google TV 4k chip more powerful than 845?

    • +2

The picture lag you’re talking about would be identical on the Sony

      • Sony would be faster

        MediaTek MT5895 (Sony XH90, X90J, X90K, X90L) (Chip released 2020)
        MediaTek MT5889 (TCL C845) (Chip release 2019)

The Sony is at least twice the speed of the TCL, and 5+ versions ahead.
        https://gadgetversus.com/processor/mediatek-mt5887-vs-mediat…

      • is the picture lag to do with switching video input e.g. tv to hdmi?
or to do with changing TV channels?

    • +4

I own the C835 and a Sony X90H - the TCL is the better TV in nearly every aspect.

    • I agree with this. Lag is noticeable, though not a deal breaker if you can live with it.

      • is the picture lag to do with switching video input e.g. tv to hdmi?
or to do with changing TV channels?

    • what is picture lag mean?

  • Holy shit. I just dropped 3k on the 85 inch C845 yesterday and only just saw this.

Given the 20% off TCL and Hisense expires tonight - should I go in and try to get the difference back and add a soundbar tomorrow?

Or just cancel altogether and wait for better price.

So annoyed, can't believe this haha.

    • +2

Order it all now and cancel original tomorrow.

      • +1

Thanks but might not work as I paid the original with gift cards :( so would have 3k in GCS left over if I buy online tonight I think.

I took screenshots of the price etc to show the store manager. If they don't honour it I'll just cancel, get all my money back in giftcards and wait for similar price I think.

      • +2

Maybe I could order online now, then go in tomorrow and argue the refund on my original order to match it. Then refund the online order made tonight. Thoughts?

Edit: Bugger it. Dropped 6k on 2x 85 inch TVs and a soundbar this week. It's the ozbargain way.

        • JB Hi-fi offer a 2 week price match rebate if price goes down in that period.

        • +1

Bugger it. Dropped 6k on 2x 85 inch TVs and a soundbar this week.

That's the OzB spirit! Just get the TV's to mine crypto in their spare cycles, they'll pay for themselves in no time.

          • @M00Cow: Hahaha :) so in an update, I got JB to price match my original order, and refund the one I made last night to stack the discounts. Crisis averted. Saved like $600.

  • How would this tv pair with the nvidia TV shield pro? Would it solve all processing issues??

    • Are your processing issues with the shield pro, if so no

  • lame i needed a tv too. will asked for the same price in the morning.

  • JB being sneaky and reverting the tv to full price on this deal now. Perhaps price match with Betta?

    https://www.betta.com.au/tcl-premium-qled-google-tv-65-85318…

    • The one in your link is C745, this one is C845 which is a higher model.

      • Ah yes my mistake. Thought it was too good to be true.

    • +2

I'm guessing their marketing dept were planning a night out and decided to release this deal early before waiting for the 20% off to end, so they could sleep in. "No one will notice"

      • Yes I think they let the cat out of the bag too early. I attempted a price match with Betta. They said this deal was below cost. Shame I thought it was the new kb promo for the next week and didn't pull the trigger.

    • Yeah right, they never have any in stock, plus everyone's prices all going back up to $1995 (Good Guys, JB) they all follow each other's pricing moves.

It's marketing 101, sell a heap at a heavily discounted price straight up - get some happy campers, good price/deal = good feedback and reviews based on value proposition, build brand reputation.

Mark it back up, sell a few at MSRP (price match a couple), and make a good profit, as hype and sales start to wean "put it back on sale again!", this will happen over and over and each time it will slowly depreciate as the newer models get ready to release again next year (it's all about timing).

  • +1

Too late to the party now, but I bought the 65" C835 on the weekend from JB for around $1500ish or whatever it was after the 20% off. Its a great TV, incredibly bright colors. I don't have an OLED to compare against, but it was also half the price of an OLED.

  • +1

was deciding on sony 85x90k ($2,576) vs TCL 85c845/Soundbar ($2,774)

pulled pin on TCL 11.55 pm last night.

i hope i made right decision lol (not planning to use TV for gaming or watching sports)

    • Haha I ordered the 75" and soundbar at 11:58 pm - I just couldn't let that deal pass.

      • lol same…was too good of a deal!

    • +2

The C845 is a great mini QLED tv from all the reviews I've been watching on youtube. The US has a similar spec model called the QM8 which has been getting some fantastic reviews. Best bang for buck.

I pulled the trigger on the 98" C745 at 11:55pm last night as well. Amazing price at $3836 for a 98".

They don't have a 98" in the C845 yet until later this year otherwise I would have loved the mini LED. I've seen the "85 in store and they look amazing with the clarity and brightness.

TCL is the cheapest and probably best bang for buck XL tv in the market at the moment. I read that TCL sells the most 98" TV's in the world out of all brands.

The only thing now is to work out if I can return the crappy $199 soundbar that I really don't need or want. Does anyone have any experience with returns when their is a double offer like this?

      • please update if manage to return the soundbar

do you already have a soundbar that is better
what model and how much paid?

        • +1

I don't have another soundbar yet but the TCL S522W 2.1Ch soundbar that I added to the order to get the 20% discount would be very disproportionately small when pared with a 98" TV and my large lounge room.

I would have preferred to get the Samsung Q990C or one of the Sony speakers.

JB have confirmed the soundbar is on it's way for delivery but the TV apparently is out of stock so could be a long wait till Aug.

I'll confirm if I can return the soundbar (unopened) once I receive this.

          • +1

@Arrox: You have to sell it on ebay or Gumtree or giftwrap it and give it to your friends/family.

      • +2

i think from reading above comments, the key to obtaining refund for sound bar is to ensure each item appears separately on Invoice. others have reported success in the past.

  • +1

Anyone got a delivery date for the TCL 85"?

    The website is now saying
