Saw this on LighTake's October promotion, where you get 5% off using on Window (YuanDao) N101 Android Tablet (using coupon code LIGHTAKE91756873, expires 31 Oct). USD $204.99 delivered.

Some highlights:

Also see Whirlpool discussion on this tablet.

Relating to cheap Chinese Android tablets, I also spotted this new tablet "PIPO U1" — USD $166 from LighTake but USB $148.49 Time-limited Promotion from BuySKU, which makes a good competitor to Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame:

  • RK3066 1.6GHz
  • 1GB RAM, 16GB NAND
  • 7" 1280x800 IPS display
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Yes it's cheaper AND faster than Fire/Flame's Amilogic CPU.

  • how does this stack up against the Cube U30GT at buyincoins for $189.51 with coupon. noting that it is only 16gb

    • I'll say very similar. Except you can't get it for $189.51 now from BuyInCoins ($195.69 USD after the coupon), and yeah, 32GB vs 16GB. Both have official Jelly Bean firmware.

    • I don't know whether you really need 32GB for these tablets due to the default partition approach: 1GB (tablet memory) and a internal SD card of 31GB. Unlike branded ones, where you can use the entire 16/32 GB for apps.

Mate bought Cube U30GT and he raved about the battery life. I bought the 7 inch version of YuanDao (N70 dual core). Not happy with the battery nor the IPS screen (dead pixel + an area where the colour is not quite right).

I am also noticing my YuanDao N70 dual core runs slower and slower.

      • I used a custom firmware from here which is a rooted and tweaked version of the stock firmware. It increases the application storage space from 1GB to 2GB. For Cube U30GT only (obviously).

I have the Cube U30GT for a while now and can say it's an OK device. The minor issues with it are:

        1. The screen goes haywire when the device is being charged — it detects touches all over the screen whenever you swipe a finger. I believe it has something to do with the charger itself being overpowered and over-volted (see http://whrl.pl/RdjNLB )

        2. The Wifi strength and speed issues — while I can still stream videos fine, but file transfer speeds in comparison to my SGS2 is a bit slower and the range is significantly less.

        3. The SD card keeps getting unmounted and remounted when the tab is sleeping. Normally not a big problem but because it causes the screen to wake up, this can be a battery drain.

        • Compare to my U30GT with stock ROM.
          1. my device doesn't have the haywire issue so it is probably the power adapter problem.
          2. Wifi is ok as long as it doesn't drop signal, im happy with what it is. But I have issues using the Youtube app as it stucks in the middle while watching a 10mins+ video.
          3. it seems to be a software issue. Check below.

  • Great find !

  • how does this & the CUBE30T compare with the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet in terms of performance?

    • It's about the same performance as CUBE U30GT, and quite a bit faster than ThinkPad Tablet. Remember that RK3066 uses quad core MALI-400, which is what has been used in Samsung Galaxy S II and S III (different clock speed though).

  • You buy cheap, you buy twice.

Hoffo, if you are happy to pay $700 for an iPad, go for it, but plenty of others are happy to tinker with their $200 China Tab, that if set up properly will provide more functionality than an iPad anyway.

This is so true. Over the years i've bought cheap computer gear (i'm a nerd/geek w/e)… can only say that cheap stuff breaks or is practically unusable due to lack of updates / bugs. It's also true that expensive stuff can be buggy, but you at least have the chance of things being fixed by firmware updates.

The Samsung tab is pretty good - with two speakers at the front, my only concern about the samsung tab is lack of 5ghz but by the time I need 5ghz the next thing will be out (I live in a non-congested area). Also the usability of the android interface on the tab kinda sucks compared to nexus phone and the ipad 3 (which I also have).

Can't comment on this tab as i've never used it, but the quality of a software product comes down to how many people you have working on it and the development processes put in place, usually these things are buggy on first release and require updates to resolve issues.

    • if you want a $150ish tablet with IPS and 16GB, Ampe A10 from Buyincoins using the coupon code will be a better buy.

  • If I buy 8 of these does that mean I have Windows 8 tablets?

    • yea, sure. make sure you group them altogether before turn it on.
