    For me showing full price

    Edit - showing on checkout.

    • +3

      Price updates at checkout.

    • Go to the checkout screen

  • -1

    Why isn’t it 10% off 🤯

    • -1

Because, Cook cooked 1% for gst

      • +2

        Roger that

    • +12

Base price x 1.1 = GST inclusive price
      $90.91 x 1.1 = $100

GST inclusive price / 11 = GST amount
      $100 / 11 = $9.09

    • +1

      Why should it be?

  • +8

When will we get the promised software update to fix the over heating issue?

    • +47

      Free frypan. Ungrateful.

    • +1

I’d say towards the end of the month but we never really know. As someone who has a 15 Pro it does get reasonably hot/warm but I don’t find it to be a massive issue

      • Apparently they are banning Instagram because that couod be the culprit?

        • +7

The culprit is Apple not designing their OS properly.

      • +3

I have a 15 Pro Max and the only time it’s overheated is when I left it on a sun facing windowsill for too long

        • +1

that's all the evidence I need ordering now

    • +6

Are you aware this software update will slow the CPU? Can't fix any hardware problems.

      • +2

Probably won't, they might just undervolt it so it has less power given to the CPU to reduce the heat. Thermal throttling will slow the CPU more than an undervolt.

My laptop has the same issue that if the CPU is running stock it turbos to 4.5Ghz and can maintain it only for like 1 minute before it hits the thermal ceiling and runs slow. I have undervolted it and capped the max turbo speed to 4Ghz and since it runs under the thermal ceiling the chip will not be in 'overheat mode' and runs better. It brought my FPS in games up a lot, I was having trouble maintaining 60fps in Warframe but after the tweaks to the CPU power I can get 90fps, since my screen is only 60hz I cap the in-game FPS to 60fps to reduce the load on the system and it stays at 60fps rock solid.

        • +2

It may not be undervolting. I suspect there could be a change to the instructions on A17 Pro causing certain apps to incorrectly access or releasing the CPU. This could manifest with the A17 Pro not throttling down correctly when required hence the heat build up.

Lowering the voltage could be a risky manuevre as you're dealing with an extremely large quantity with varying silicon quality. Unless Apple intentionally kept a large buffer? Or it could have been too aggressive with voltage curve. If it did, then there could be a performance penalty although whether the end-user would 'feel' it is the question. I'm sure there will be publications comparing all the synthetic benchmarks before and after the upcoming software update.

        • +1

They've had to push more power through the A17 pro because of poor yields and to get a meaningful increase in terms of raw computing power. Lowering the core voltage without lowering clock speeds is unlikely to be the solution for this problem. They will likely lower the voltage and lower the clock speeds a bit. Most users will hardly notice the slower processing speeds.

          • @flagger: Some users would have received a proper phone, by that I mean, their phone should be using (-5%) less energy than the A16 whilst performing a lot (+30%) faster.

However, Apple can't have some people with a great experience and the rest with a decent experience. So all those lucky silicon-lottery winners will have their devices tuned to only be running at (6-9%) faster than the A16. It can do that at much lower (-20%) energy, but due to the status quo their software will run with the same high voltages as everyone else. And it'll have the same scheduler.

So the potential will be there, but they won't be able to tap into it. According to reports, these "regular chips" (that was propositioned by TSMC) are rather rare, and most of them are subpar/defective chips that have been accepted and adapted to work.

I don't think this bodes well for Android Phones for next year, as the flagship QC 8g3 will be manufactured at a scale roughly x10 less than the A17. So doubt Qualcomm will get the good silicon. But there is a decent architectural upgrade, so it won't be a total waste. It just means last year's chips which got delayed for now, will be delayed another year. Unacceptable.

If I was an Android User, I would've upgraded to the QSD 865 and stick there until the QC 8g1+ then upgrade to the QC 8g4. Just to make it meaningful. If I was an Apple User I would've gone from the iPhone 8 Plus to the iPhone 13 Max to the iPhone 16 Max.

      • +2

You're clearly unaware that it will not reduce the performance.
It's one or more software issues that are the problem.

Apple (AAPL.O) on Saturday said it has identified a few issues which can cause new iPhones to run warmer than expected, including a bug in the iOS 17 software which will be fixed in an upcoming update.

"Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system," Apple said, adding that it is working with app developers on fixes that are in the process of being rolled out.

The third-party apps causing the issue include game Asphalt 9; Meta's (META.O) Instagram; and Uber, according to the company. Instagram already fixed the issue with its app on Sept. 27.

The upcoming iOS 17 bug fix will not reduce performance to address the iPhone's temperature

        • Hopefully that will be the fix. You know, people will run benchmark tests before and after the fix :)

        • +1

That's what Apple would say in both cases though. Won't know for sure until we get before after benchmarks.

    • +10

There's no issue, you're just holdingheating it wrong.

    • Had it since launch day. Only time it got hot was when I was setting it up. Smooth sailing since then. Not even on charging it gets more hot than my 12 PM.
There maybe some who are having issues but its been overhyped by YouTube.

    • next week

    • Before you get the phone )

  • Anychance for price match with jbhifi?

    • Slim because it’s temporarily out of stock for most iPhones

      • And besides you have to check out to get the price.

  • +2

I would hate if they charged the full amount irrespective of what we see.

    • +1

      Simply cancel the order

  • +6

Also works on the MacBook Pro 14” too ;)

  • +3

Should have released them in Winter, could have also used one as a hand warmer.

    • lol it is winter soon in other markets, so maybe we aren’t the main target demographic?

      • +1

Ment to be listed on amazon eu?

  • +2

If only could combine and pay with the 15% off gift cards

    • +1

yea im still waiting to use this - I'm loaded up and ready to buy but has to be through these stores

    • I suspect this could be risky. Amazon could cancel orders due to price error (I assume this is a price error???). If it did, you'll have a bunch of credits stuck on your Amazon wallet unless you are going to spend it on Amazon anyway.

  • Sorry, a dumb question, any estimation when order will be shipped, please?

    Thanks

  • What graphics cards is it working on?

    • +3

Any that cost over $1100 and are sold by Amazon AU.

      e.g. PNY RTX 4090 for $2453.64

      • +1

I ordered that when it is out of stock, think amazon will give me a date for it to send out, they charged full $2699 today, I cancelled my order in panic.

  • Would be great to get officeworks to pricematch this. although they will only price match products that they have stock.

  • Nice. Thanks op

  • This is extremely aesthetic

  • +2

So they don't have GST on their receipts? Meaning no TRS?

    • +2

They cannot choose to not charge GST.

  • I wonder if JBs, TGG or OW sells Amazon GC, so I can convert them UGC to Amazon.

    • Even if you could, I reckon that this will get patched before you get around to it

  • damn cheap should i buy 5

  • Only working on the iPhones, can’t seem to get it to work on anything else.

    • +1

It works on everything that’s above $1.1k, but the original price has to be >$1.1k

      • -1

Not 100% Sure that is true, I put a Omni X1 Pro (1697) into the checkout and it stays the same price.

        • I’ve mainly tested on Apple products and it is showing the discount

        • +3

That's because it's sold by ECOVACS Robotics.

Any product sold by Amazon AU that costs $1100 or more is currently appearing without GST included during checkout.

      • Good to know, thanks!

    • Looks like it works on DJI Mini 4

  • cant work out if i should buy this or the samsung 85 inch tv

    • Why not both?

    • Size matters - is the old Galaxy Note quote.
If you get the Galaxy S23 Ultra + slightly smaller TV (& sit closer), you will pay less & get superior phone ;)

  • +4

LOL may not be a glitch

    • LOL yep, it appears Amazon pulled a fast one on us.

  • +3

I got it working on the watch Ultra 2 as I needed to replace my watch 6

    • Me too, works out to be 1270 for the watch. Not too bad given the cheapest I saw for the clearance Apple watch Ultra 1 was 15% off.

    • Bro dont tempt me like that

  • great deal, strike while the iron is hot friends

  • +1

needem controversy name for ihphone 15 overheating and durability concerns

    Titgate perhaps

in any case look forward to apple kneecapping a17 pro performance in a software update to address the first of those quibbles

  • +5

Ordered… but I have my doubts about them honouring this.

    • +1

Amazon are quite good with this stuff. They will most likely honor it. Also they aren't losing money on this so they have an even bigger reason to honor it.

      • But if it’s just that GST is missing, surely they can’t honour that. Unless they decide to take the hit on it themselves

        • Hard to say, the company is extremely large and there have been hacks before where you can buy things for free and they just ship it all out. They may not even know it's happening due to automatic work flows.

I haven't heard of Amazon cancelling pricing errors before. Even when they lose money and they aren't even losing money here. In this case if it's effecting their accounting they just take the new sale price and work out the GST from there.

      • isn't some apple products sold by stores just to maybe get their attention to buy other stuff as the margins for apple products are very very little?

  • +2

Little of topic but does anyone know if can claim TRS on iPhone if leaving the country like going Bali?

    • +2

If you're travelling with a big enough family and can pool allowances, then yes. It's $900 per adult, $450 per child. Family of 4… easy done.

      • Thank you. Really appreciate it!🙏🏽😁

      • I don't think this is the case as the item has zero tax paid on it. If Amazon are leaving out tax, then there won't be a GST component on the docket.

    • +1

Yes you can, but I’m not sure how this one would work if there’s no GST portion applied

    • +2

Can you do me a favour and take my boogey board?

    • +1

      Yes you can

    • +1

Happy to be proven wrong here but if you just take the device to Bali on holiday, I think the Aus government will chase you for the GST once you get back?

Edit: yep I’m wrong - they only chase you if you exceed your allowance

“If you bring goods back into Australia for which a GST refund via the TRS has been claimed, the goods must be declared, and if the value of those goods (combined with any other overseas/duty free purchases) exceeds the passenger concession allowance, any applicable GST and/or duty may need to be paid unless another concession (example, all personal clothing – except furs) is available”

      • -1

Yeah but how often does this happen in practice, Claimed TRS on a 8K MacBook Pro once saved about $700 (not small change) didn't declare it coming back

        • The answer is hardly ever, if at all. I came back from a recent trip having claimed GST back on 4k worth of photography gear - breezed through on return.

  • I hope they honour this, they have sent an email stating the “Total Cost”, and it does not mention GST one way or the other, from a reasonable persons perspective that will be the amount that they will charge. I cant see them adding more, although this remains to be seen 😀

  • +1

This or just go full price on a payment plan for 3 years?

  • +1

Perfect timing. Heading to Europe for 2 months in a few weeks to claim TRS and will look great in my new Model Y.

    • +1

With the money you save here you can repair some of the key scratches in your Tesla. Win!

  • +1

What if Amazon and Apple are just testing the water by giving us "accidental" discount. At the end of the day $1999 is still $100 more than the last years pro max model. Fingers crossed that they'll honor this price.

    • +3

      You get 256GB here

    • +2

pro max now starts at 256 GB

    • +1

      It's not. The 256gb was $2099.

    • +1

I think $1999 for the Pro Max 256 is the equal to last year's pricing. I remember the 128GB being $1899.

      • +1

14 Pro Max 256GB priced at $2099 when they launched last year.
