        price protection claim

    F this phone seriously.
Gona have to wait to the 16 to fix the issues. A complete joke. Trying to creat the biggest margins possible and it back fired badly.

    • Margins are fine providing the product is of merchantable quality.

  • +1

Screen shot is pointless they will check before agreeing.

  • Order got cancelled.

    • +1

luckier than being charged full amount.

  • Either OzB has depleted all Amazon au stock of items >$1100 or Amazon has delisted everything.

Can’t find any laptops, graphics cards or phones…

  • +1

I purchased a macbook pro for $2615, but noticed that the full amount was pending on my credit card.
Got in touch with Amazon customer support. They assured me that the final charge would only be for the discounted amount, and the pending charge was just an authorisation. Let's see what happens when it settles!

    • But it wasn't even discounted? There was no GST applied. I would take that with a grain of salt.

      • I didn't say 'discounted' to them. I just told them the price I was expecting vs the amount I see on my credit card. They said I would be charged the lesser amount.

    • +2

It costs them nothing to assure you about that and then let you return it or hoping you'd keep it to avoid the hassle.

      • Weird take, do you think it's less hassle to handle a return than simply cancel a pending order?
Anyway… yes, as I made clear… we'll see what happens when it settles.

        • Yeah, it's defs less hassle for a consultant over phone to tell you what you want to hear and let YOU deal with whatever you end up with.

          Like, in every single company.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: ok, yeah, it's easy for customer service staff to lie to customers…. not sure why that's something you thought needed to be pointed out. Should I say it again? We'll see what happens when the charge settles.

            • @moph: I pointed it out because what you quote them saying doesn't sound convincing at all. I know it from experience - various deals, different stores. That's the attitude I assume these days when dealing with any customer service. And I'd let it slide, but it's an expensive item in question.

Hope it works for you. Let us know.

    • +1

Update: item dispatched, and I received this email:

We are contacting you about your order, which includes Apple 2023 MacBook Pro Laptop with Apple M2 Pro chip with 10‑core CPU and 16‑core GPU: 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR Display, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD Storage. Works with iPhone/iPad; Silver. We will issue you a partial refund as we have been made aware of a problem that may have caused a lower price than what you were charged to appear on one of our checkout pages.

We recognize that this is not the experience you expected and will issue you a refund for $261.55 so you are paying the lower price you may have seen in the process of placing your order.

When the refund is complete, we will send you an e-mail letting you know the refund date, amount and payment details.

so many issues with this phone and they want over 2k for it, but ppl folking money for it..why?

    • the iCult's .. 'Reality distortion Field' 😍

  • +2

my order just changed to full amount inc gst, so we will be charged the full amount.

    • my order just changed to full amount inc gst

What do you mean by that?

      • Order Details in your account now displays GST?

      • Authorisation to your card is for full amount?

      • +3

yes if you check the order invoices on Amazon, they have been updated to include GST.

and the card auth has been at full amount.

        • How do you check the order invoice as the tax invoice hasnt been issued for me. I am only able to check order summary(printable).

          • @Blok: Under your orders, there is an Invoice dropdown, and you can select "view tax invoice", which is the same amount as the order summary anyway.

            • @bitesized: My 15pro shows $2497 still. But if they jack up the price, I'll cancel

  • +5

this isn't good at all, are they allowed to change the price? The order now reflects the GST inclusive price, and all invoices and charges also reflect this. NEG

Easily the worst "deal" of 2023

OP's rush to post an unverified glitch, the naivety of the people who tried to take advantage of the glitch and the greed of the Broden tryhards bulk ordering phones and GPU's planning to resell

HomeAlone, your actions have caused and continue to cause hundreds of lost hours across hundreds of OzB members and Amazon CS staff

Easily the worst "deal" of 2023

Does OzBargain have a badge for that?

OP's rush to post an unverified glitch, the naivety of the people who tried to take advantage of the glitch and the greed of the Broden tryhards bulk ordering phones and GPU's planning to resell

After seeing the Meta Quest Pro deal I spent an hour figuring out how the "discount" worked, gathering all the links for the iPhones, testing the prices in checkout for each phone (+ other random high ticket items) and then worked on formatting the deal description in a way that was easy to read.

There was no rushing involved. In fact, I even commented on the other deal to explain how the glitch worked some 40 minutes before posting this deal.

HomeAlone, your actions have caused and continue to cause hundreds of lost hours across hundreds of OzB members and Amazon CS staff

Amazon has amazing support if/when things go wrong. Those who have purchased from past glitches/errors can attest to that.

It takes only a few minutes to reach out through live chat and get the difference refunded. (Note: They will only be able to process a refund after the order has been delivered.)

      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/contact-us/

      • Hi OP, thanks for the above reply. Can you confirm you got the difference refunded (as in you got the GST amount refunded after you received the parcel)?

        • If OP has order iPhone 15s, he won't know until it get dispatched, and as per the OP's post, it is on backorder.

    • +11

      lol, you rushed to buy.

      how is this OP fault?

    • +4

This is OzB, not your parents promising you christmas gifts.

Being here for 14 years you should know better and tone it down a little.

    • Looks like HomeAlone just set a new record for the 'Most Hyped Fiasco of 2023' award! 🏆 #GlitchGoneWild

  • sometimes amazon will not honor pricing. i have an order from july which is half price of rrp.

product is back in stock now and they still wouldnt ship it. order is still pending even after some chasing.

  • +2

people negging - I have a question for you - did you think amazon will not charge GST? looks to be some UI glitch.

    • +11

I expected to be charged whatever the price was that was shown at check out. As with any amazon purchase, whatever is on the final order confirmation. that is the price I'm happy to pay. If Amazon does an oopsy, confirm with me that the oopsy has happened and give me the choice to cancel.

DO NOT ship it and charge me more after the fact.

      • +6

agreed, they should have just cancelled, updating GST as aftermath doesn't make sense.

        • +2

yea we live in a civilised country where the price shown is the price paid

not some 3th world back water shithole (e.g. USA)

  • +2

Probably best to cancel the order, I am sure it will end up like the rest in here whom got their card charged, to include GST. Guess I'll headover to JBs later today to placed a preorder with my UGC…

  • -1

    Still expensive.

iPhone 14 pro 128gb was $1547 for several weeks recently at OfficeWorks and others. Now this GST glitch, the iPhone 15 pro 128gb is $1680, and that's meant to be a deal? LOL.

  • +4

This feels the same as when I was traveling in Sydney seeing a $1 transaction on my card for the public transport thinking it was the best city in Aus only to be bamboozled a few days later.

    • What bamboozled you? I'm not from Sydney.

  • +6

    Update:

My iPhone was delivered earlier today. I went on Amazon customer support chat to request the price difference refund, stating that my credit card was charged more than the listed price in the original order summary.

Support said they have taken all the notes down and forwarded it to their relevant specialist team. I have to wait for an email within 24 hours which will contain their response. Will let you all know the outcome…

    • +2

Fingers Crossed, i jumped in for an IPhone Pro Max, ill be waiting til November, so lets see if they come to the party

    • Nice mate, worst comes to worst, just return it for full refund.

    • lol update us

    • +6

Update 2: Amazon has been repeatedly frustrating, and all the requests for refund has come back with "Amazon does not price match" bs. I tried replying that this isn't a price match, but this is a mis-charging from the listed price on the order summary, versus my credit card charges.

But to no avail - I think the team themselves don't understand what's going on. I've now initiated full refund.

For those with backorders, I would suggest cancelling your order ahead of time to save the hassle of trying to get a GST or full refund.

    • +1

Update 3: New email from Amazon an hour ago! Thankfully I hadn't dropped the return off at Auspost yet.

"We are contacting you about your order ###, which includes Apple iPhone 14 Pro (512 GB) - Space Black. We will issue you a partial refund as we have been made aware of a problem that may have caused a lower price than what you were charged to appear on one of our checkout pages.

We recognize that this is not the experience you expected and will issue you a refund for $199.91 so you are paying the lower price you may have seen in the process of placing your order."

Looks like we are getting the GST waiver after all!

  • well I ordered using the %15 coupon deal 2 weeks ago which is still cheaper than this deal, $1870 for 15 pro max, still waiting on a call from JB though, no stock

    • Same here, i did a split payment with the Cole’s ultimate cards and last bit on my credit card. I’m thinking of cancelling that now and have them refund to my credit card, that way i get the 15% and this 9.09%…. I can only hope

      • JB told me if you cancel you get physical JB gift cards

        • -2

I dont think i would accept that, for a company that cant commit to a delivery date they cant charge you and then sit on your money for months….. i think the ACCC might have something to say about that

          • @Stuj: well i ordered a day before release, they said all the allocated stock are pre sold out, so i need to wait till mid nov, they told me

            • -1

@Roe Jogan: Let’s see how i go then… im pretty tenacious…. This hasn't occurred and JB have no evidence of supplying this to me:)

              Taken from the ACCC….
If a business is aware of an issue outside of their control which they know will delay them supplying any of their products or services, the business needs to make sure they provide clear and accurate information to consumers about:

              stock or service availability
the likely timing of production and delivery, or service supply
what solutions they will provide if they can’t supply the product or service on time or within a reasonable time.
Businesses should also be proactive in updating customers about any delays that arise after they have bought a product, and what steps the business is taking to help customers

Accepting payment without intending to supply

The business may have promised a product or service that they knew they couldn’t supply or didn’t intend to supply.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, businesses must not accept payment for products or services if:

they don’t intend to supply the product or service
they intend to supply different products or services from those promised
they know, or should know, that they won’t be able to supply the products or services by the promised date, or within a reasonable time.

          • @Stuj:

I dont think i would accept that

            But you need to.

The conditions of the gift card state they cannot be exchanged for cash which you would be indirectly doing.

JBs conditions of sale probably also say that the refund needs to be back to the original purchase method.

    I like it HOT!

Just got an automatic email from Amazon. Never contacted them about this order.

    “Hello,

We are contacting you about your order XXXXX, which includes Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (1 TB) - Natural Titanium. We will issue you a partial refund as we have been made aware of a problem that may have caused a lower price than what you were charged to appear on one of our checkout pages.

We recognize that this is not the experience you expected and will issue you a refund for $263.55 so you are paying the lower price you may have seen in the process of placing your order.

When the refund is complete, we will send you an e-mail letting you know the refund date, amount and payment details.”

    • +2

Just got the same email and if I’m understanding it correctly, they are honouring the lower price?

      • Got the same email

    • +1

Same here. Getting a partial refund. Great outcome considering that I didn’t even contact them to query the charges. Macbook M1 for 1160. Happy with that

    • Same, glad I didn’t cancel yet, good on them for honouring eventually! Now just to wait for my back order to be delivered, hopefully not too long…

    • Same here, the weird thing is that i cancelled my order about 2 hours prior as my order from JB finally arrived. It would be a good bonus for them to give me free money, but i wont hold my breath….

    • yes same here! I had generated the full refund code but hadn't returned it yet thankfully!

      • +1

Ah I cancelled my order after seeing your message but thats ok, I have spent the UGC regardless afterall and placed order at JBs, good for those whom didn't go through the UGC route.

    • Has anyone received your refund yet?

      • +1

Yes my refund was processed today. It shows up on Amazon under order details, plus another email was sent to confirm.

  • +2

Found an active deal on Amazon Gift Cards to discount this deal further, I received $100 in promotion credit on a single $1000 Amazon Gift Card purchase by stacking the promo codes in this deal thanks to @xlynx.
Bonus $10-$40 Promo Credit on Amazon.com.au Gift Cards $250-$1000 Purchase @ Amazon AU

    • +2

      Works multiple times.

      • Stacked all the codes as per your instructions and purchased a $1000 gift card.
      • Received 4 benefit confirmation emails for a total of $100 promotional credit ($40+$30+$20+$10)
      • Repeated the above 3 more times.

$4000 for $4000 worth of Amazon gift cards + $400 promotional credit.

      • +2

Update: Can't spend my entire $400 promo credit in a single order. Only applies $100 per order.

        • You just wasted 4k. Dang you have money to just flip like that

          • +1

@Rukiata: I still received all the promo credit, but it was $100 off per order on 4 separate orders instead of $400 off a single order.

  • Any update when iphone 15pro max will be shipped?

    • +1

Got an email yesterday saying my 15pro max 256GB Blue will arrive on Tuesday.

      • Same, got an email yesterday

        • Have u got the refund yet?

          • @Ozbourne: No, getting my phone 😅
            I don't want full refund.
And the partial/discounted refund hasn't issued yet.

            • @Sahib: Yes I meant the partial refund

              • @Ozbourne: Delivered Sunday afternoon and partial refund came through just now around 36 hours after delivery.

  • My order was still shipping pending so I updated the payment method, and now the order's updated with the correct price… did I (profanity) up my order?

    15 Pro Max 512gb

    • +1

Mine did the same when I updated to pay with gift cards instead of card. Partial refund still came through.

      • So did you get the refund of the GST/tax amount back to your Gift card balance after the phone was delivered ?\
Same thing happened to me when I applied the GC balance to the order, it went from 1999.09 to 2199

Still waiting for my iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB Natural titanium to be shipped ?

        • So did you get the refund of the GST/tax amount back to your Gift card balance after the phone was delivered ?\

Yes. The refund came through ~36 hours after delivery.

  • Anyone else that already received their iPhone had issues getting the partial refund?

I received my iPhone 3 days ago and have yet received any partial refund, contacted Amazon CS and they had no clue. Said they going to escalate it and someone will contact me in 2 business days.

    • Anyone else on the same bucket ? I got an ETA notification for my phone that it's going to be shipped in next 2 days. Unsure if I want to proceed if Amazon are not going to honour their own price even after they confirmed via email on the partial refund of the 10% GST amount

      • I got my phone delivered today. Thinking of not opening the box until refund comes through. OR would amazon accept return anyways?

      • +3

Update, got another email today (4 business days after receiving the phone) that refund has been processed.

Don't bother calling Amazon CS to follow up as they have no clue and their refund team will tell you they can't do the refund , it seems like it's handled by some specialised team and the refund just happens.

        • do you get any notification/email when the refund occurs? or just watch the bank account until it comes through

  • I wish I had ordered from Amazon, I ordered my 15 Pro Max 256 GB Titanium from JB HiFi 3 weeks ago, but still no ETA. Which iPhone model you guys have received?

    • Pro Max 256GB

      • which colour?

  • Anyone have a screenshot for the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB Natural Titanium pls? ? I could use this for a price beat guarantee

    • Take a look at the amaysim deal you could try and price match that
