Back with another Android tablet deal that's really good value for A$150 and cheaper than last time it was posted. Like other Unisoc T616/18 tablets this is suitable for light gaming/emulation, media playback, general use, for the kids or even something fancy like a home assistant dashboard.

Featuring Android 12 with Google Play, 10.4" 2000x1200 IPS display, 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage (microSD support), 6600mAh battery, UNISOC T616 octa-core CPU, USB-C, 4G dual SIM, 8MP front camera, 21MP rear camera, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and dual speakers.

The downsides are that there's no 4G B28, Android 12 instead of 13 and no Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD.

Nice specs at a great price!! Thanks clear

  • you guys think this will be faster than my current old Tab S3.
i'm just using it as tablet for google maps and waze.

    • +4

Better be careful, you could get fined if stopped by police.
Anything over 8" with media capabilities is considered a distraction when mounted in a car, even if using as GPS at time of offence.

      • Meaning Tesla is on the illegal side?

        • +8

          Built in systems are exempt.

          Unfortunatly thats the law

          • +1

@easternculture: I got done around 7 years ago with my Nexus 7" tablet and charge was

"Drive vehicle with TV/VDU image visible to driver"

$311 fine and lost 3 demerit points, ouch!

Funny part was policeman really wanted to know what I was watching,

            • @ozhunter68: Was it mounted to the car?

The rules around devices from around 2010 have been that you can use it for GPS and music control if it's mounted to the vehicle appropriately.

If it was mounted and you got done doing anything else, like YouTube or messaging then that's going to happen regardless.

              • @Herbse: There is a limit on the size.
Anything mountable over 7" iirc is considered a device with media capabilities capable of distracting you.

I think that why you find max mobile phone size is 6.9"

                • @easternculture: Which state are you in?

In Vic it's any mobile device. Never seen a limit on size mentioned anywhere.

                  • @Herbse: NSW, but apparently also applies to QLD.
VIC are more strict on traffic offences so im sure there is a rule somewhere

                    • @easternculture: Nope. Been paying close attention to rules around mobile devices since 2007. Have to for work and personal reasons.
                      https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/driver…

No mention of size limits. Just any mobile device needs to be mounted and can only be used for quick GPS and music adjustments.

Keen to see a link on any rules around size you've seen online in the state driving laws where you are. This would be a first for me to hear off and if it's different interstate, people should know.

                      • -1

                        @Herbse: Here you go

All drivers face tough penalties for illegal use of a mobile phone or interacting with other units that have visual displays while driving (e.g. DVD players or tablet computers) that are not driver's aids.

                        https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/driver…

A police officer would argue why you are using a large tablet when you have a smart phone on you.

But end of the day, its you license so do what your comfortable with.

For me, im happy to avoid using a tablet in car and wearing a smart watch, to avoid the temptation that would potentially cost me 3 points and $450 (or double that on public holidays).

              • @Herbse: Was not mmounted. Even if it was I'm sure policeman would have fined me lol.

                • @ozhunter68: I read an article about a driver that was fined because front seat passenger was facetiming with a tablet.

Reasoning was that the driver can get distracted

      • +1

That's a stupid law, my built-in system has Android Auto and it can play YouTube videos when connected to a phone.

        • +4

          Built in systems are exempt.

Unfortunatly thats the law that applies to mountable devices.

Im aware of a few who got fined and when challenged in court, magistrate agreed with the legistlation.

      • +1

Damn that's good information. Such saved some poor sod $500 bux or whatever that they charge.

  • +1

how does this compare to iPads? i need this for my kids so they stop breaking the expensive iPads. you can play roblox on this?

    • +5

      Easy

    • blackview11 does, ebay local 2 yr warranty plus insurance ~ $200

      • +2

Worth mentioning that you should always make sure you're getting the "Blackview Tab 11" and not the "Tab 11 WiFi" that was released later as it has a worse CPU.

The eBay ones seem to be the former thankfully. I've been using the Tab 11 since release.

      • Couldn't find Blackview 11 for around $200 on ebay. Do u have the link?

      • Lools like blackview does not provide local warranty. Their eBay store rep confirmed that the tablet would need to be sent to China for repair.

  • Thank you clear. Purchased :) this will pair nicely with my copy of Thai Honey

  • -1

    Refresh rate ?

    • +4

Always assume 60Hz unless stated otherwise. It's a pretty big selling point ;)

      • -4

Yeah… Looking tablet oled and 120hz…

        • Yeah you won't find anything like that close to this price. Think US$260 minimum.

  • +1

Is this better than iPad? Asking for a friend

    • +6

      Are they an apple fanbog

      • +2

I am partial to using the tablet on the fanbog

        • I'm currently in the fanbog.

  • Is band 28 still an issue any more?

    • +1

It certainly has an impact in regional areas as it forms the backbone for Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

  • Havent used a tablet before. Does anyone know if you put in a sim card can it be used to send sms and make phone calls too? I assume it is like a giant phone

    • +1

      Yep you can.

      • Thanks. Any thoughts how it is talking into a large tablet or typing an sms on it as a phone replacement? Thinking it as a cheap phone alternative for someone older who might like the bigger screen.

        • +1

Can't say I've really tried it. Often a large phone with large text is enough.

          • @Clear: Considering this as it is cheaper and higher spec than any phone I can see. At the same price point, I'd be looking at a slow 4 gig ram phone.

        • Wouldn't have thought this can operate like a standard phone myself.. no built in phone functionality, with all communications being internet based: IP/data calling, messaging in apps

I'd be curious about the speaker volume for someone older. Best use I could see, is using it for video calls

          • +1

            @formulated:

            no built in phone functionality,

It has 4G and a SIM card slot.

            • @Clear: So do iPads, for data.

              • +1

@formulated: Sure, but this is an Android tablet so with a 4G SIM you can make/receive calls and text.

                • @Clear: Fair enough. The practical part of an older person using a 10 inch tablet like a phone is still there. With the speaker not rating that highly, at least in one review I saw, bluetooth headphones perhaps being more comfortable + allowing for privacy.

        • . Any thoughts how it is talking into a large tablet or typing an sms on it as a phone replacement?

You don't actually talk into the tablet. Unless you want to look like a douche. Thats what bluetooth headsets are for.

As for typing sms or say whatsapp or teams or whatever messaging app. This is better because the screen is bigger. So are the keys on the on screen keyboard.

    • +1

      Yes

  • How does this tablet compare to the Lenovo Tab M10 3rd Gen?

    • Would be better then that crap

    • +5

This has a larger display, higher resolution, faster CPU, more storage, more RAM and better cameras.

      • Sounds good. Would it be able to run CSR2 mobile gaming?

    • +1

All 3 have significantly slower CPUs than this.

  • Thanks Op. Bought one.
Does anyone know if it comes with a case? Or do I need to buy one off Aliexpress

  • Can’t find any reviews.

    Edit: https://techxreviews.com/bmax-maxpad-i11-review/

@clear is this the same device? It says a different CPU.

  • +2

A decent resolution + MicroSd card support + 3.5mm audio jack + GPS for $150. Sound great to me. If I needed a new tablet I would purchase this immediately.

    • Sounds great for screen in car for navigation or music

  • It's a excellent tablet with a lot of ticked boxes. Would have got it if not for the lack of widevine L1 support.

    • does that mean it cant play videos from netflix?

      • Just in standard definition.

  • thanks, got one, have been thinking about a new tablet for a while and this seems good enough!

(only 2 left of the EU plug version now btw, not that it matters really, but may sell out at this price)

  • Got one, thanks.

  • anyone else getting "This code can't be used in combination with other offers." when entering the ANZ8 code? the only other discount i see is the shipping is free

  • I need a basic tablet for some whiteboarding functionality on zoom, teams, ppt etc. Does anyone know if its good enough for that from personal experience?

  • Got one :) Thanks Clear!

As a side note - I managed to get this one for $140.25 using the code :) (my cart had more items than just the tablet though)

  • I just ordered one. Can you get a case for it?

    • Was going to ask the exact same thing, not sure if it comes with one as one of the reviews had a photo with a case

    • I got a case for $17.36 (includes GST) from the CNCAP1 Store.

  • Damn nearly has everything I need. However my main requirement is an oled screen because I mainly want to use it as an ereader at night where oled makes a big difference. Been searching for a small <10" oled tablet, doesn't need great specs otherwise but this is impossible to find.

    • +3

If you want <10" OLED you'll have to buy a phone.

      • yeah that's what I'm noticing, people are recommending the foldables too. But way out of my budget/needs. IDM >10" if there are any decent cheap options, any recommendations?

        • +1

OLED and cheap aren't really a thing.

    • +1

Honestly, that's my main use for my tablet and I'd personally suggest you get either the ReadEra Premium or Moon+ Reader app :)

      • Genuine question, whats the benefits of these apps? I've been just grabbing epubs from libgen and uploading to Play Books, but will switch if they're better.

        • I've used both for years and honestly;
          * They both have dark mode so it's easier on the eyes
          * They can open a wide variety of documents (e.g. PDF, EPUB etc)
          * You can change both the font styles and font size
          * There's auto scrolling
          * It's super easy to find the book you're looking for
          * Both of them have free versions you can try out before committing to spend any money on them for the Premium versions

There are a bunch more features but, not sure what would sway your opinion more :)

(Also, if you're using libgen, I can also suggest Calibre :) Best used on Windows but, it does have an App version)

  • Can you fix one of them keyboards to this baby?

    • +1

Any Bluetooth keyb will do if you don't want to sacrifice the usb port.

  • thanks grabbed one

  • Any one know how this model fares with this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005783911076.html ? Thanks!

    • Idk if that's a real Xiaomi tho

      • Xioami

        • +1

Good pickup, almost feel dyslexic now

          • @abs898: It's easy to get caught out with these. The price is a dead giveaway.

    • +2

Yeah you're buying a malware infested piece of crap with fake specs.

Original Global Pad 6 Pro Android 13 Tablet PC 11 inch Snapdragon 870 12GB RAM 512GB ROM HD Screen 5G Tablet Android 2023

Notice how not a single brand is mentioned?

      • Thanks, yes, when it comes to AliExpress, extreme caution is required !

  • Now your talking this would be better than all those lenovo m10 tabs around $200. I bought a blackview tab 11 for $137 a while back with Widevine L1 and it's fantastic. This tab looks just as good.

  • Interesting in buying this for my other daughter just so they don't fight, i've previous bought a Lenovo P11 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711651) just wondering how it compares Clear?

  • BMAX: Youthful and Reborn !!!

Is it a bad Chinese-English translation?
