@OhMaJuck: Yeah about $400 with 20kg check in baggage

            • +2

@dealboot: So its 3k + 1600 more for flights.. really looking at close to 5k once all said an done hrrrmm not such a bargain after all.

              • +2

@Gavman: 3k for 4 ppl…for 14 days food inclusive. Please list the better deals?

                • +1

@CptnObvious: It's about $4500 after flights back. Comparatively you can routinely get 14 day cruises to the south pacific or PNG for under $1000 per head and no return flight.

It's a good deal if you want to Singapore anyway.

That's cheaper than renting in Sydney.

    • +66

With the additional benefit of leaving Sydney.

      • -2

Woah, woah.. Everybody ease up on the hate for Sydney. It's no Canberra.

        • -6

Agreedz Canberra is overpriced and boring

  • I cant see the price of $744

Would pick carribbean any day over P&O.
Tried P&O once and just not worth the cheaper price.
Everything was worse, service, food, entertainment

4 ppl in the same tiny room like pigs… Zero privacy for 15 days for $744. Painful…

    • +6

Depends who the other people are I guess. Also not sure about you but I wouldn't be in there much, just sleeping.

      • +2

well, even husband and wife sleep in separate rooms under the same roof these days.
4 ppl in the same room for 15 days, and once you step out of your room,
there are 2500+ ppl everywhere on the same ship, not even a quiet park or beach that I can escape to.
        The noisiness is just painful.
Not saying I want to be alone for 15 days, but a few hours a day with no one around is a must during a relaxing holiday.

        • +4

          what ??

          • +1

@jv: Google "husband and wife sleep in separate rooms"
            It's very common.

              @AsukaST:

Google "husband and wife sleep in separate rooms"

              Thanks….

Now my search got flagged and is being sent to HR !!!!!!

            • +5

@AsukaST: Agreed. I know few ppl who sleep in the same room. I find it odd too but its common these days. I guess you get a better nights sleep.
I sleep in a seperate room often…but thats only because im in the doghouse.
But thats a story best saved for forums…

            • @AsukaST: Most caravans we looked at had 2 single beds in them, no double or no way to slide em together …. I was shocked…

            • @AsukaST:

              It's very common.

            what ??

Plot twist: He's someone else's husband. They don't even know each other. The roof is a hotel roof.

        • +2

Your not Wrong, my wife snores like a fog horn especially after some VinO collapseO. Couldn't think of anything worse than sleeping in the same room as her. unless my Birthdays approaching.

        • but a few hours a day with no one around is a must during a relaxing holiday.

Have you ever been on a cruise? I'm not a big fan of them but I've been on a couple and there are plenty of sunbeds on deck facing the ocean where you can get exactly this.

    • +1

If you're spending enough time in your room to be able to complain about the size, then you're cruising wrong

    • Imagine the pong brewing in that internal room!

  • +3

    eugh…14 days in Covid prison

    • +4

      or worse - gastro….

      • +2

        or worse - gastro….

Hmmm… one small room with direct access to a single bathroom with multiple (all 4 passengers if you are really unlucky) cases of gastro and no access to fresh air for these inside cabins.

Probably best to try for a balcony cabin (but it will cost more) - at least you can leave the door open for some fresh air (an inside cabin could turn into the sulphurous pits of hell very quickly). This is the one time I would recommend a very good tip to be left for your cabin attendant.

        • +2

norovirus in a 4 person interior bunk would be hell on earth.. or sea, rather

      • Porque No los Dos?

  • +7

    "just sleeping"

One snorer could ruin the experience.

  • +1

Will I get free covid on the trip and government refusal to let me disembark?

    • +4

I'd be more worried about gastro…

  • +2

Zero privacy. Probably only applies to family of four - two parents and two little kids.

    • or you're used to slumming it like a backpacker in a hostel.

  • +1

Quad share on P&O.. that's rough!

Cruising is amazing, but 2 people maybe at most.

  • -1

It is cheaper to book two twin rooms

    • is it? then whats the point of this deal?

    • +3

      No…?

      1x room with 2 people is $2,232
      1x room with 4 people is $2,975

      2x $2,232 > $2,975

  • +5

    2 star floating hotel.

  • +2

Has anyone been on cruises in the last year and not caught covid? I'm tempted but thinking it's probably still fairly high risk.

    • Cruises were filthy germ tanks before the pandemic. Would be much worse now we have COVID everywhere.

    • +12

I've been on 3 cruises in the past year and never caught COVID.

    • +1

Does it matter? Actual covid is so dulled down and combine vaccination with that if you are worried, the symptoms would be mild as.

More people are struggling with more serious symptoms from current flu and gastro variants going around than they are with "covid"

      • +5

        Long covid is no joke

        • +2

Glad someone still gets the seriousness.

        • -6

You mean vxination side effects. Long Covid was only a cover name for it from beginning.

      • +1

Covid dysregulates the immune system. What were once considered mild colds and flu infections are now much more severe for many people because their immune systems have been compromised, even after mild or asymptomatic covid. RSV in adults was extremely rare prior to 2019. Plenty of studies confirm that sars2 reduces T cell counts, reactivates latent viruses (eg EBV), can lodge in the gastrointestinal tract (mimicking other infections) and dulls the effect of previous vaccinations to other illnesses.

Is the internet good enough to work from a laptop?

    • +1

Yes, can do video calls and browsing/streaming but costs extra $15 a day

      • +1

        Don't make me bring Starlink

        • And then share the password for $10 a day pp?! Come back home with more money than when you left?

          • +1

@Save 50 Cent: Just have 100 customers with $50 for 14 days and your trip will be covered for family of 4. Starlink supports upto 128 devices

    • no, pretty sure I was on the same cruise to NZ and the internet was crap - could barely stream videos I wouldn't rely on it if I had to make work calls

  • Does this include all meals? How long can you leave the boat for? Is the food of a reasonable quality?

    • +5

      Includes all meals
Waterfront is a nice sit down restaurant that your would pay about $40pp for
Angelo's is similar but Italian themed
Pantry is similar to RSL Buffet

About 9 hours you can leave the boat for the 4 ports
Food is worth it for the price of the trip alone

  • -1

14 days on a cruise ship, how awful!
Throw in 2x kids sharing a room…. yikes!

Perhaps a good deal deal though but definitely not for me

  • +15

JV having an ABSOLUTE field DAY in these COMMENTS

  • +3

great price but be wary a 4 person bunk interior room is horrible, yes you'd spend most of your time outside but it'd feel terribly claustrophic come night time especially if you are sharing with people outside of family / young kids

  • +1

    Quad share :/

It sucks as a single traveler, I would definitely do this as if have to stop over in Singapore on the way to Bangkok!

  • +3

P&o have the worst and oldest ships out there, with the caravan park crowd. I'd rather stay at home.

    • +1

Agree with this. Never done it, however I've seen the brochure and heard the comments from multiple people. We've gone Royal Caribbean before and that has been okay. P&O would be like being stuck at an 80's overage disco with no door in sight.

  • +2

@dealboot can you please make yourself a profile picture that is similar to the default white silhouette in front of an orange background, but a silhouette of a boot instead of a humanoid avatar?

  • +1

So these types of cruise, do I need a visa for each country I am visiting if I am getting off the boat and look around even just for a few hours?

    • No visa required

      • Are you sure about that? Did you assume they were Australian?
