    but its a 6 pro…a flop of a device

    • +13

      Fingerprint sensor performance concerns
      Overheating during intensive usage
Below average battery life compared to rivals
      Inconsistent connectivity with WiFi/Bluetooth
Apps/games not fully compatible with Tensor chip
      Laggy camera shutter speed
      Missed screen touches near edges
Video recording quality not on par with rivals
      Video stabilization issues
      Microphone volume problems
Screen responsiveness concerns in cold weather
      Apps freezing/crashing for some users
      Android Auto connectivity problems
      Wireless charging overheating
      Speaker volume/quality variations between units

      • Out of the 15 issues I have experienced about 8 of these which is still pretty bad as someone who paid nearly retail price. The overheating and battery life was the worst as it would constantly slow down charging and I had to have a fan on it to stop it from overheating when cable charging. Was kinda funny that the official pixel wireless charger couldn't keep up and would throttle charging speeds (you'd think the pixel charger would have no issues with a pixel phone).

However, the shutter speed was much better on the P6P than on my S23 Ultra. I just kinda feel bad for people who bought one as an "upgrade" for the next few years.

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the issues dialing emergency numbers where the call would straight up not go through.

      • Agree, avoid the pixel 6, get a pixel 7.

        • I downgraded from S105G to P7. It's a significant downgrade and have already had the device replaced by Google under warranty.

The worst issue I've experienced in both devices is the max volume on Bluetooth, is so low even at max settings, have disabled absolute volume,
Changed Bluetooth versions etc., Nothing works. Never had any problems with the s10. I just hate the p7.

The battery life is shockingly bad as well. It's slightly improved by turning off song identification but overall never feels like a flagship the way I felt about s10.

No more pixels after the p7. I was so frustrated by experience that I seriously contemplated buying an iPhone 14 plus and calling it a day. The price and lightning connector were the only reasons that prevented me.

          • @zxcvb: That's no good, sounds like you got a lemon. Happens I guess.

Yeah i turned that what's playing now setting off just recently, didn't mind it for 10 months.
There are other battery saving settings you've no doubt looked into (wifi scanning, screen not always on when locked etc). Could look at uninstalling rubbish apps you don't use or don't allow running in the background.

Sounds like you should sell it an get an S23 Ultra or something, no need to be tight!

            • @G-rig: Am not sure if it was a lemon, I think all pixel 7s have an issue with Bluetooth max volume. The replacement device is slightly better but still has the same issue with most headsets. I never had this issue with Samsung.

I do want to sell,I do want an ultra but can't justify the costs esp due to sunk costs. Will use it for a year or so and then upgrade. For the most part I'm used to the Bluetooth and battery issues., so I can live with it.

              • @zxcvb: Dunno just have to play with the developer settings. What device are you connecting it to? That one should go plenty loud. I think mine automatically remembers full volume on the phone (when connecting to the car adapter). Also fine with the Sony XM4 and XM5, and my bose speaker so could be something else (should be blasting it too loud with headphones anyway).

The loudspeaker could do with more vol but at least the earpiece vol is good now (the Pixel 5 never went loud enough and could hardly hear people when out and about (first model that copied apple having speaker under the screen).

Either way people need to just accept that you'll be charging all smart phones once a day i htink.

                • @G-rig: Thats good to know.

So far the issues I've faced:

                  1. Sony xm3 full volume not enough, especially on better Bluetooth codecs that is not SBC.
                  2. Taotronics wireless earbuds (purchased from this site), with aptX - very feeble volume
                  3. Anker mini Bluetooth speaker, need to put it at high volumes
                  4. Apple wired 3.5m earphones with Apple USBC to 3.5mm DAC - Max volume not loud enough

Devices that are acceptable but still requiring high volume
                  1. QCY T13
                  2. QCY T17
                  3.SoundPeats air3
                  4.My car stereo

Ive disabled absolute volume in Dev settings
I've changed AVRCP to 1.6 , remove and re-pair all devices.

Also all of my legacy wired earphones suffer from the same issue using the APPLE DAC.

I got a cheap DAC from eBay that stopped working in less than two months, also same issue.

You'd think it was my ear, but the same devices work perfectly on the s10 5g - no issues. All at 3/4 volume loud enough

At this point I've given up as both my original and replacement device have the same issue.

                  • @zxcvb: Yeah the sony app is quite good with the XM4 / XM5 and enables (or uses) the LDAC codec which works great with pixels. Not sure what other settings there are but guess we'd have to search as it's been a whlie since i set it up.

Edit: enable LDAC (hd-audio) if you haven't already. wouldn't hurt resetting your headphones too

  • A new screen on an existing P6P with a cracked one, or this…not a huge price difference…

    • yeah i got a P6P with smashed screen, I just got a pixel 7 from last Telstra deal instead of getting my P6P fixed, I'm keeping it for trade in

      Pixel 7a for $599.

      • Using student beans

        • Via Telstra.

          • @TomGum: RIght, sorry read it as Pixel 7.
You can get that for 599 as well and was 499 on Telstra

  • I've got the Pixel 6 Pro 512GB version that I'm thinking of off-loading, what does this make it worth I'm wondering?

    • +1

      $440 from mobile monster

  • Grabbed one for my mum. Now to navigate the Telstra lack of stock whose knows when it will arrive and Pixel quality issue invested waters.

    • Update: Got an sms saying its been dispatched, so I guess the unexpected Pixel 7 demand was probably the reason for them not being able to fulfil those orders on time. Doesn't seem like an issue for the 6 Pro.

      • Pixel 6 rubbish that's why.

        • Yeah a shame, hopefully it will be alright for a mum. Not bad for 650 though.

@Zylam Marex: Tbh better than a lot of other brands and a solid choice. I'm just into the normal pixels not pro for value

            • @G-rig: Yeah, a shame we still don't simple Android phones with decent specs and stockish Android available locally. The Nokia phones have bad specs and Moto seem to have bad software updates. Was looking into a few of the Edge 30 models and seemed like great value but a lot of people reported unoptimized software and issues that never get fixed. Pixels much have hardware issues but at least the software is decent.

  • can anyone confirm if this is locked to Telstra or Unlocked?

Pixrl 7 pro just went on sale, no brainer to get that
