This was a popular deal last month. It's probably still a good deal for a backup phone. It's locked to Telstra. It was known to work with Boost, too.

4/128 and fhd and 3.5 and NFC for $150

i mean cant really beat it even for $200? $250?

    granted you're fixed to boost???

    • At vivo website says 4+1 gb ram, is this true?

Normally 4gb ram phone is pretty slow

    • Same price on officeworks and coles, nice.

  • Any idea for unlocking it? thanks

    • Should cost $25 through telstra. Im doing the process now. Just waiting for them to provide the unlock code.

      • Have u tried the old 'I'm going O/S trick' & say u need the phone to take another SIM?

  • I'm worried about the reception on this - going by reviews.

    • i dont know what to think here

telstra usually release branded phones that they know have strong reception in case numpties in bonnie doone buy it

but maybe their network is so strong they can release weak reception phones???

      • The issue pointed out on this phone is reception… wheres other phones in the same area don't have those… They cheaped out on something to hit this price point :).. i guess a full internal antenna was it

  • if you spend most of your time in city or burbs then you're fine

  • Does this work with belong?
    Belong still a telstra, right?

Also interested to know if works on Aldi mobile without unlocking?

      • +1

        From previous post said no

  • Coles also offers same price

  • I got this phone in the last deal for a backup/family phone.

No 5g reception anywhere, using 2 diff Sims with Telstra. Check with Telstra locally ,checked with Telstra head office Sydney. I have S21 5g and get 4bars on 5g,on the Vivo only 4g.

Raised RMA with vivo support, awaiting outcome. Vivo support were surprisingly supportive. I may have been unlucky and got a dud.

    • Which one are you using yourself? As there so many of them…

  • Anyone know if this will work with belong without unlocking?

      Tested and no

  • Worth mentioning that Woollies Mobile SIM plans are pretty good and, being on the Telstra network, should work fine with this.

For me, the 10% off one shop per month makes my $20 (grandfathered) plan very, very cheap most months, and I now have enough banked data for any likely holidays, etc. away from my wifi.

(The cheapest plan is now (IIRC) $25 for 22GB/month, 4G only)

  • Picked myself a up a Y55 5G to replace 2 older 3G only Telstra prepaid phone (a ZTE made Telstra Lite running Android 5.1 and a Alcatel Pixi Vibe running Android 6) from the Pacific Fair (Broadbeach) store.

Mine has a manufacture date of June 2022.

As for unlocking, I'd happily pay Telstra the required amount to unlock.

  • Does this phone work in Telstra's MVNO like Aldi or More?
I am thinking to use it for More deal.

  • From above, im pretty sure only Boost or Telstra works. I'm trying to get it unlocked as we speak, but its been almost 4 weeks since i requested it and still no code yet.

    • Who you requested from? I don't think it's free… There's a website official Sim unlock cost $28… Got few hundreds good reviews an average 4 stars

    • Following to see how to unlock

Unlocking through Telstra. I waited about 3 months (until my Boost sim plan expired) and they said its $25 to unlock. Doing it all through myTelstra app (using the sim card provided with the phone). Latest update last night was that the original request had an error so they have reapplied for the code and should be within 7-10 business days….im hopeful but not confident. Next step will be to raise as an official compliant if it doesnt come through.

        • Just received unlock code and succesfully unlocked now..

          • @andyman1908: Could you explain in more details, how did you do it. Thank a lot!

            • @Peteroz: I loosely followed Matthewus post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14103396/redir

I didnt go into store, once I got onto the Telstra chat I asked to find out how much it'll cost to unlock my phone. After giving IMEI they said it'll be $25. They got me to make payment and then they sent out the request for unlock code. The first time there were issues so didnt get the code in the 7-10 business days they advised. But once the issue was resolved on their side I think I got the code within 3 business days.

  • no, im guessing they check on their records on when the phone was sold. i had mine for less than 6 months but their records were older so only had to pay $25, another guy had it for a week and their records had it older than 6 months but I assume everyone buying these would pay the same.
