Darlington Estate is one of the prettiest venues around Perth. This deal seems pretty good, if you can cope with the Tues - Thursday condition of the deal. I believe Groupon has a no questions asked 7 day refund policy in case you need to nail down some details and end up not liking what you hear.

The restaurant was at one point my absolute favourite out of Perth restaurants. It was sold a number of years ago and although the food was great, it didn't feel quite as special. It has been a few years, so not sure about the quality of the food now. What I had would have been better than any function food I have had so I would say it would beat any "function centre".

One thing to watch out for is that there is a 3 hour drinks package and it is for the first three hours. I'd be making sure that the ceremony doesn't count as part of that three hours.

If I were interested in getting married and was willing to do a wedding (I guess you could have a non traditional ceremony or no ceremony), this deal would really appeal to me.

Here are the details, you might be able to cut a deal with them directly:

Combine both your ceremony and reception to take the stress out of your big day

Any Ozbargain girls wanna go halves on this?

    • +19

Only if you'll go halves in giving birth to our babies. :)

We'd have to time the booking to coincide with cheap airfares though. Thursday would be out thoough because with Thursday night shopping woolies wouldn't have marked down their sponge cakes yet. I'd thought we could perhaps get a couple at another time and freeze them but the freezer would use electricity.

Make ozbargain your gift registry. People have to buy you something out of all the deals you upvoted.

Oh and get the wedding albums at artscow/snapfish :)

You could use a Scoopon deal and have your honeymoon in Bali?

    • Bob Jane T-Marts!

Lol Bob, did your last shameless hussy really take you to the cleaners so much that a budget wedding would be on the cards?

Well, just a head's up.. my local supermarket has a gumball machine that, for 50c, spits out some pretty snazzy looking rings. ;D

      • I think Bobjane is proposing to any girl who will accept.

    • Rule 30!

  • lol.

i never thought i would see the day this came up on OZB

I believe Groupon has a no questions asked 7 day refund policy in case you need to nail down some details and end up not liking what you hear.

I'm not absolutely certain (as I've never dealt with them myself) but, from what I've read, they haven't got any 'change of mind' refund policy. In fact, I've heard that it's incredibly difficult even to get a refund out of them at the best of times.

    • It used to be no questions asked. I got a refund from Groupon Singapore on this basis.

Here is what the website now says:
      Can I return a voucher?
Returns are handled on a case-by-case basis. Within the limits of reason, we’ll do what it takes to make you happy. Unless there is something wrong with the purchase, we are generally unable to offer refunds after one week from the purchase date. If you’d like to discuss returning a deal, please use the form at http://contact.groupon.com.au or ring us: 1300 962 032

  • This is a fabulous venue and amazing value. I work in the industry as a supplier having done over 300 weddings and have been there a few times. The owners are just lovely and really committed to great food and service. If you are considering a wedding on a weeknight… This is UNBEATABLE value!!!!

    • Yes, a self contained wedding there would be absolutely top notch. The view is ethereal.

The food may have even improved, not that it was ever bad. It went from totally mind blowingly excellent to pretty damn good. They have an email list and I am on it. They seem to be very committed to offering unique and quality degustation events, etc.

If I were getting married and wanted the hassle of a wedding, this would be the place to have it. Groupon or no Groupon. I would rather have it here than say Sandalford.

  • Who gets married on a Tuesday??

    • +1

I don't know. You'd get better value on a lot of things I imagine. Value conscious or folks who had their heart set on a particular location that was booked out on the weekends around when you wanted to get married.

I think weddings are a rip off. Everything goes up in price if it is for a wedding versus some other event. A rort. I got married in a courthouse by a celebrant in the US. We went into the wrong room and there were some dudes in bright orange overalls sitting around. We backed out. Neither of us had family or friends there. The people behind us were our witnesses. Then it was their turn to get married. And on it went. I had ordered our rings but they weren't in yet so the celebrant gave us a ring that was made out of a paper clip. Fair dinkum.

I always said that if I get married again, I'd like to have less fuss. I don't know how that's possible, but I'd try.

If I was getting married and my intended wanted some sort of fuss, this would be perfect for me as it is a phenomenal location with great food and reasonable wine. Just as important, there would be a lot less to do. Order a cake, find a dress, email the invites.

When my daughter gets married, I will hand all of the planning over to her stepmum.

    Mt Druitt Community Centre: $200
    4 boxes goon: $100
    6 cases beer: $180
4 Duty Free house liquor: $100
Dominos Tuesday, say 20 pizzas for 40 ppl: $100

    Total: $680

    Price quoted in deal: $3699

    Save $3k right there.

    • Dominos Tuesday, say 20 pizzas for 40 ppl: $100

      i'd need 1.5 to myself

    • You're buying some pretty expensive goon there. I'd land you at least 20 boxes for $100.

      • Mick123 is a discerning goon drinker. His stuff is matured 12 years in wheelie bins. You can't compare.

        • Mick123 - mt Druitt community centre!!! wha r ya?! a snob?! bet you finished year 11. f#@kit, hold it on the weekend at bunnings around the corner and have it fully catered for with $1.50 sausages in bread with onions. youse can get do your gift registry there at the same time.

  • I suggest any guys reading this do not recommend any 'bargain wedding' to the bride to be. It's her big day and let her plan it her way. If she happens to come by this or any other deal then that's her choice.

    • yeah but then you end up a sucker like me and 40K-50K+ out of pocket! :(

      • Where did you have this wedding? Did it include stay in the honeymoon suite?

        • NO! just a normal reception, but once you take everything into consideration it ends up being quite pricy…

few k for a wedding dress, about 20K for the reception (we had 200), about 3-4 k each for the video and pics - which we still haven't picked up 2+ years later! couple k for mustangs. then the brides maids dresses, suit hire, bridal flowers, church hire and priest dontation, hair and makeup for the girls, food for the guests before hand and on the next day (lucky the inlaws helped us out with that too!) bits and pieces all add up! lucky one of our guests made the cake or that would have been another K or so…

That's not even including the honeymoon…!

Man we spent a house deposit on our reception! lucky we where living with the in-laws at the time so were able to save quite a decent amount.

        • Well at least you made her day - but still $50k for a wedding seems a bit steep for me. Nowadays what I see is a lot of couples mentioning 'no boxed gifts' in the invitation (there is always some smarties finding ways to give boxed gifts) but that only covers part of the cost.

I know one couple who married last year but couldn't afford to go somewhere for their honeymoon after the wedding. They plan on going this year.

Does anyone know a place where bride is included in the deal and not a BYO like many places do…

    • try russianbride.ru or Thailand.
