Forgot to add that Telstra Account is required to purchase this outright. Enjoy

    • +1

if you have a boost mobile account, does that mean you have a telstra account?

      • +3

i am sorry, don't know the answer to that question. maybe some kind person reading this can help. Thanks

      • +3

Looks like you can use your boost mobile account as long as you've created an ID with Telstra. 🙂

      • +2

Yes you can. I have a Biost SIM and I successfully placed 2 orders for Google Pixel 7 which had the same buying condition.

        • Same .
I just walked into a Telstra shop gave the salesman my Boost phone number .

      • yes, i bought pixel 7 in last deal, and i dont have boost anymore, but still can access my telstra account to buy anything.

        • Yeah you can still purchase things off the main Telstra store, and gain points from the purchase. (It adds to cart fine for me)

However, I believe you are locked out from actually using and redeeming anything in the Telstra Plus portion of the site now. (Even with an active service. No movies for you.)

Nice price for great earphones. Paid $249 six months ago and don't regret it

    • +1

yeah. Love mine. Great battery life. Good quality noise cancellation , decent sound quality. Very happy with mine

      • +1

What about Sony's new XM5? The earphones

        • +1

Sonys are a bit better from reviews I've seen, but at nearly three times the price…

        • I don't like the gloss finish on the inner side.

Also some people don't trust Sony after the XM4 battery debacle.

      • +2

How was the fit? Pixel buds gen 1 was terrible on my ears

        • +1

Same here to the point wherei just couldn't use them

          • @chartparker: The fit is really nice. Compared to my wf 1000 xm4, they are heaven

          • +2

@chartparker: I found the Pixel Buds Pro terrible, just can't keep them in for long as the fit is not good.
Much rather Bose which fits perfectly and is comfy, I am sure there are plenty of other brands that are just as good with ear comfort also.

            • +2

              @SimAus007: +1 for Bose
Generally I think their products are overpriced for sound quality you get, but their in ear headphones are just perfection for comfort.

  • +1

    How to get telstra id?

    • +2
      • What is the fit like? I've got the A Series, which I've had for a year or two. They're the only ones I've found that stay in because of the little rubber fins.

The Pro's don't have those, do they?

    • +8

Activate a $2 Telstra sim card from Woolies tomorrow and you're good to go

      • +2

actually, this is the quick and sureshot way to do it. Thank you!

      • Thanks will try

  • +6

    Cracking price!
Would pair well with the recent Pixel 7 deal ;)

  • These vs Jabra?

    • +3

These are quite bad at calls, I can’t wal to the bus in the city and make a call for example, theydon’t block out much sound passively and they don’t stay in my ears - they are worse than my AirPods honestly.

    • +2

I have both the Jabra Elite Active 75t and these. In my experience, the Pixel Buds Pro are far superior.

The Jabras are (surprisingly) bad at calls, the multi-device support doesn't work, and the on-bud controls are inferior. Specifically: the Pixel Buds can work with 2-3 devices flawlessly, whereas the Jabras were pretty terrible with that feature. In regard to on-bud controls, the Pixel Buds Pro allow you to fast forward 5 seconds with a double tap (great for books/podcasts), whereas the Jabras don't allow for that at all + to fast forward or change volume on the Jabras, you need to press a button on, which forces the bud further into your ear. For the Pixel Buds – you just tap or roll your finger in a certain direction over the bud.

      • Did the Jabra gives you ear fatigue? Mine did whereas the wired ones didn't (maybe my Jabra was too large for me)

Curious to know if you find both comfortable to wear long term

    • From personal exp, these are great.

  • any chance of price matching these at JB HiFi or Officeworks? Or even Optus like the pixel 7?

    • +1

technically no from jb. but they can do an order through your telstra account and have it delivered to you, but telstra stock and jb stock are not shared (except for iphones and ipads).

but at that point u can just go through telstra or do it online.

      • JB did price match the Telstra store pixel 7 price. Is this dependent on whom we get on chat?

        • probably more leniency online. we cant do it instore. its the same with costco membership and prices

    • I did successfully price beat at officeworks with the last week's pixel 7 deal

    • +2

      Officeworks don’t price match Telstra

  • +4

I can pay $12 a month for this without paying any extras whatsoever?

  • Do I have to be with Telstra to buy it? Or can I get Telstra ID without having any plans with them?

    • short answer is yes. please see @CrystalCastle response. get a cheap telstra sim and activate.

  • How do these compare to Airpod Pro?

    • +3

i have airpods pro and pixel buds pro. i would say the ANC is just a little better and the sound is slightly fuller (but still very neutral and flat) sounding on the airpods pro. The pixel buds pro do have an app with equalizer which you can tweak.

I have experienced excellent call quality on both but i am no tech reviewer. i find myself reaching for the pixel buds so much more often compared to the airpods pro.

    • +3

      https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/apple-airpod…

If you have Apple devices and want tight integration and possibly slightly better audio then pay the Apple tax.
If not, why pay double the price?

    • As someone who has both, I also prefer the Pixel Buds Pro

  • +1

Optus had the same special a couple of months ago, it's like they are competing against one another or more accurately clearing stock?

    • yeah. got one from optus, now ordered one from Telstra for a family member

    • +1

google normally announce new things on October, clearly clearing up stock

  • Works for iPhone??

    • +2

The Google earbuds app doesn't work on iPhones

  • +1

    Great price OP 👍

Sadly they didn't fit well for me.

    • +1

      Try Comply tips by chance?

They were uncomfortable and hard to get a good seal with anything else for me, but I absolutely love them now.

      • +1

Did you buy the comply tips from Comply directly? They're so expensive…

        • +1

I get my comply foam tips from this place:
          Minidisc

I found the tips that came with the Pixel buds were always loose - once I tried Comply I never went back

          • @Mugz: Wait, how did you get it to fit the pixel buds pro? I have some comply tips and they don't fit properly.

I don't see the comply tips specifically for pixel buds pro on the minidisc website.

            • @Munki: @Munki sorry I should have mentioned I only have the Pixel Buds A-Series ..and I purchased the TrueGrip pro's if that helps…sorry for the confusion, there are other Comply tips for sale from that website so hopefully one of them will fit?

              • +1

@Mugz: Oh wait I just got my existing comply tips to fit! They were too big for the Pixel Buds A, but the Pros fit. You just have to force it a little.

  • Anyone try this for laptop zoom or phone calls? I have tried Sony's and other wireless buds including overear Bose and they're still useless. Stuck with a cheap wired headset and mic instead..

    • +2

Can’t help you with these, but i use Jabra Elite 75t for several hours / day works of online meetings, connected to my laptop via bluetooth. Works very well.

    • +3

Cheap headset with boom that bring the mic close to your mouth will always be better than high end expensive earbuds style.

Earbuds style mic rely on DSP and external objects to bounce the sound wave from your mouth to capture it. They know human voice frequency range and dynamics, but its not yet able to differentiate between your voice or other people's.
They are especially bad in office environment where there are other people talking next to you.

The audio quality for listening is good so but you will not sound good to other people.

    • Better off buying a headset designed for that use case IMO. Look for brands like Platronics, Jabra, etc.. and I've found the USB connections are the best for latency-free (and with a colour indicator to tell you if you're on mute or not).

I personally use Platronics for this - a Voyager Focus UC and a Dell branded one which is near-identical.

  • +2

Thanks just bought one. Now hopefully my back order pixel shows up :)

    • Me included and I'm sure there will be a lot more us in the same boat

  • +2

Great price for good sounding headphones. Unfortunately for me i could never get the fit right. Tried heaps of tips but just never fit properly. 50 percent of the time they'd just randomly fall out. Not having any wings or anything to keep them inside your ear is a silly design choice. If they fit your ears though this is an amazing price!

    • +1

Yeah I am going to try to return mine, they're constantly falling out no matter the combination of tips

      • +1

Yep I hear you. Some days I'd get a half decent fit. Leave home and get on transport to where I need to go and they'd be fine. I'd put them in the case and go to put them back in for the return trip and they'd constantly fall out. No matter what I did. And for that reason I just didn't want to take them with me anymore.

    • This is what I'm concerned about and delaying purchase. Trying to return if they don't fit well on me and keep falling out

  • This is rubbish. It does not fit my ears properly no matter which size tips I use.

  • Thanks OP. Was looking for a deal and this is a hell of a deal! Got one.

  • +7

Also available at Telstra Rewards store https://plus.telstra.com.au/rewards/explore/22565 (Minimum is 2,500 pts + $142)

    • +2

Thanks, good call… got it down to close to $100!

  • +2

OzBargained! Bought 1 to pair with pixel 7 bought from telstra deal not long ago 😁. Thank you Op 🙏👍

    • I bought it eventhough I'm still using pixel 5 haha

  • Didn't buy it last time from Optus as they only had charcoal one.
    Bought this time.
    Thanks OP

    • annoyingly when I first clicked through Telstra was similarly only displaying Fog as being out of stock, but now it seems they are back in but I've already ordered the Charcoal :(

      Am attempting to swap

  • Thank you OP

  • Ordered these, now just waiting on Telstra to come through with my Pixel 7. Cudos to the OP and OzBargain alerts

  • Thanks for sharing. This or Jabra Elite 85T?

  • How's the live translate feature work, any good?

  • I'd like to buy these but seems like there's an audio lag when watching videos which cuts out the entire reason I'd be buying them. I've already got laggy bluetooth buds I can't watch videos on. Don't really understand why high end noise cancelling buds ship with the wrong standards to eliminate the lag (same issue with my Bose ones)

    • It’s mostly just android phones. It’s much better than it used to be, but still present.

  • +1

I bought these during the Optus deal. Sound quality is fantastic. Noticeably better than the Jabra’s. A big issue for me is that they are prone to falling out. So I use my Jabra’s a lot more….

  • Good to pair with S23 or iphone? I guess not for the later?

  • +2

    Thanks for Sharing OP

Got them down to $62 with Telstra Rewards.

Fog OOS, only Charcoal available through rewards

    • Thanks for mentioning Telstra Rewards, got mine for $77 in store.

  • +1

Bought them, sold them the next day. Terrible fitting earbuds. YMMV

  • These or the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro? They’re both roughly the same price.

    • +3

      Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

  • How do these compare with the Sony earbuds WF-1000XM3s? (I'm aware the latest XM5s just released)
My current XM3s batteries are just real shot and barely last 2 hours plus I'm having case charging issues where the buds dont charge or dont activate after being taken out of the case and I'm looking for some new buds but the XM5s are a bit out of price range.

    • Same situation here, I'd be keen forsome feedback too.

      • I bit the bullet and bought them. Will post first impressions when I receive them. Auspost says they'll arrive today but knowing Auspost, it'll be tomorrow haha

      • +1

I got them this morning. Bass sounds quite full which is nice but it leaves the mids and highs left wanting but overall I really cannot complain with the price I got it for.
Earbud inserts are quite small. Usually I use the medium sizes for every other earbud but for the Google Buds I needed to use the large, I'd be worried for anyone with large ear holes. I find them comfy to wear with the large and they dont feel like they'll move around. The gesture controls are quite nifty as well with the swipes for volume and taps for next/previous track. The buds themselves feel a bit awkward to handle when taking them out of the case and putting in ears but seem easy enough to fit into the ears. ANC works really good as well, better than the XM3s in my opinion. I can't comment on battery life as I have only had roughly an hour with them.

If I paid full price of $300 I probably regret not paying the extra for the new Sony's XM5 earbuds but for the $60 I paid (I used Telstra points) I'm pretty happy. Ultimately prefer the Sony XM3s day one but mine are just so degraded that the Pixel Buds are much easier to use now than dealing with technical issues my XM3s have. The Pixel Buds Pro are so close to being better than the XM3s but it's just that the mids/treble sound just slightly better on the XM3s compared to the Pixel Buds.

        • +2

Thanks for the update! I spent too long deviding and missed the deal but my XM3s are still ok for my 45 min commute so I'll probably wait until black friday and see what deals are available then.

  • Does anyone know if these can be purchased in a Telstra shop?

    • Yes, same price scans in store. Subject to availability.

  • +1

Looking at these or Jabra Elite 7 Pro - can anyone weigh in? I use a Pixel 6 if it matters.

  • Perfect timing, car got broken into last week and they stole my bag with two sets of headphones. Ordered!

  • Does the ANC on these work well for anyone? I got a pair a week ago and noise cancellation mode sounds like transparency mode just with the outside world volume turned down to half. Like, it feels like headphones are still amplifying outdoor sounds with noise cancellation mode on. The noise cancellation on my $80 Jabra Elite 4s is much better.

  • Anyone who has used the Pixel Buds Pro, can you compare them with the Jabra Evolve2 Earbuds? https://www.jabra.com.au/business/office-headsets/jabra-evol…

They're presumably in the same class if Google has slapped the "Pro" on the name, offers Bluetooth Multipoint, and ANC etc. And usually the same retail price of $299.

Wondering if I'd be better off with one over the other for use with a Windows 10 PC and Pixel 7 at work vs the Jabras.

    Thanks.

  • +1

Only black left, be careful not to lose them when the lights are out.

  • +3

Thanks OP, I used 29,900 rewards points and got it for $62

  • I am looking for budget ($50 range) wireless headphone.

Anyone use this before ? https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/jlab-go-air-pop-true-wire…

    i am open to suggestions.
