Had the same issue at first but the guy at the counter did something, scanned it but didn't work, did something again scanned it again and it finally worked. Looks more likely related to the experience of the guy behind the counter.

All relative to what time you start. They don't breeze in until 10am, it's a late night culture so they stay back till 7-10pm and out drinking till 2am

I bought the HIM Card from 711 Store in Brisbane CBD.
Forgot to get a receipt, so I recommend you ask for one. If you buy from Coles/Woolies you get the receipt to say the GC has been activated but 711 gave me nothing, which could cause you issues if the amount is not loaded for whatever reason.
Went home and checked the balance and luckily there was $50 loaded. Converted to JB-Hi Fi GC.

I did manage to get the TCN Gift at 7-Eleven @ Southern Cross Station (Melbourne CBD). The shop attendant scanned 3x times though before it worked.
Paid 44.50 for it.
Bought one a couple of hours ago at a 7-Eleven servo in WA. Went through no issues, although the attendant went out of her way to make sure I got both parts of the gift card receipts so maybe she’d seen issues earlier in the day.
Been getting a couple of these cards everyday now and the 24hr period is not entirely true. It resets at 12am.

Corrected. Checked this morning and its back. It does look like it will disappear once used and comes back again once it resets.
Took a screenshot of my barcode to give to the Mrs to buy as I was unable to do it and got a warning message from the app about taking screenshots that can lead to an account suspension. Didn't know taking screenshot on the 7-Eleven app was a mortal sin.
