I just realised that the official Dell eBay Store has disappeared.

    • +2

It's there, just that they've pulled all items from sale.

      https://www.ebay.com/str/dell

      • That would explain why it didn't come up in eBay Search.

        • +2

Yeah i meant to explain that it's the Dell USA store. And i was wrong it's just that there's no stock available for shipping to Australia so it shows up as blank but there is for USA postal addresses. You would have to use a freight forwarder to get it.

The Dell ebay Australian store yeah you're right has completely disappeared. I have no idea what Dell is up to with that.

For anyone wondering what is the lowest price for this model. $309 was the lowest price during eBay sale.

I bought one a few days ago from Dell. With the student discount and shopback, worked out to be slightly cheaper than JB. I wanted to cancel the order though to get it quicker from JB in-store, but the closest store is like 30 km away, so I'll just wait. Can't be bothered going for the drive.

So if there is an issue with stock or whatever, that is another option. Buy from Dell and use the student coupon, plus other deals that are available. the price will be comparable. Dell has also had discounts before on the official. So potentially you could get it even cheaper if you wait, but no guarantees.

    • What is this student coupon @rizza ?

For reference, G3223D was $50 less in June.

  • I’ve had this one a couple of years. First order had a fault which they replaced pretty quickly with no hassles. It’s a great monitor for office work.

    • Hang on, no I haven’t. I’ve got the 4K version.

  • +1

If you really want to buy it direct from Dell Australia. Then they have a price match guarantee. Couldn't you use that to price match when showing them the JB price?. You could do the price match online right now through the online chat tool which is in Step 2.

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/lp/price-match-guarantee

The positive with that is that they have a 30 day price guarantee after purchase so if you see it cheaper afterwards they refund the price difference.

    2x3w built-in speakers too.

The 4K version is actually a little cheaper lol

    Dell S2722QC 27" 4K UHD 60Hz USB-C Monitor $375.46 Delivered @ Dell Member Purchase Program: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791364

    • +1

Just cancelled my order and got the 4K version. I chose this one initially because of the higher refresh rate, but research has told me that for media viewing (which is what I will primarily use it for). The marginal improvement in resolution is better than the marginal improvement in refresh rate.

      • +2

I would argue the improvement in resolution is not marginal ;)

        I have the U2515H (QHD 25") and the S2722QC (4K 27"); I would choose the S2722QC any day!

      • Fair enough. I've never used this monitor, but I've overclocked many 60Hz monitors to 75Hz in the past. Maybe you could get the best of both worlds and get the 4K version to 75Hz too :)

        • +1

I think i'll just leave it be. I only use my TV for gaming. I just want whatever will be best to watch youtube videos for example. I don't want the best monitor for gaming. The main reason for buying is literally just to watch movies in my study etc. and from what I am hearing the 4K will be more immersive, and the 60hz will not be an issue for that.

Thanks for the feedback. This is the 2nd time I have returned/cancelled a monitor this year because of Ozbargain feedback (I keep making the wrong purchase for my needs lol). I hope this is the last time, and I just stick with this one.

          • @rizza: Yea, that's understandable. 4K is noticeably better than QHD so you'll definitely enjoy this one. Hopefully this will be your final decision, and you'll use this monitor for the next few years!

            • @Zackeroo: Using it now (the 4K version). The monitor is amazing. The last monitor I bought Samsung 27" CF390 FHD, you could see the pixels up close (even more so than my old Philips 284E), but this one is jut crisp. Even 1cm from the screen I can't detect any pixels. The sound from the speakers is also significantly more crisp than the Philips. No bass, but the clarity is spot on. Build quality also looks spot on.

              • @rizza: 4k is four times the resolution of FHD, so four times the pixels for the same area. You made the right choice going for the 4k model over the 2k/1440p one for sure. Would take a pretty niche case to make the 1440p version worth it.

              • @rizza: Surprising that the speakers on the monitor impressed you. I will never care for monitor speakers haha, the monitor size is just too restricted to have any decent speakers.

    • 60 hz

    • Thanks for myself the one you sent

  • Can you adjust the monitor up and down ?

    • +1

      yes, you can.

  • Same price at Amazon but it's showing a 1 to 2 month dispatch. Whether that's right i don't know.

  • Damn, how good is this screen, has anyone tried using it? I’ve read some good reviews but was looking to hear from people here who’ve used it.

Bought the 4k version a year or two ago for my wife/home office. Mainly because of the usb-c
4k is nice, but not really that noticeable over 2k (1440p)
Connecting + charging a laptop and all your peripherals with one cable is very nice

    • +2

I also bought the 4K model at $369 from a previous deal. I sold it for the same price a few weeks later.

While the extra resolution was nice, as others have mentioned, 4K @ 27" in Windows isn't great, especially if you work with spreadsheets or code. 1440p is a better fit in that regard.

However, it was the incredibly poor contrast ratio and grey blacks that I couldn't look past. I'm at work during the day, so the monitor facilitated evening programming, light gaming and media consumption. Even my (many years) old hand-me-down 24" FHD IPS monitor had deeper blacks, and looked good at its native resolution (no scaling).

If you only use Mac OS, and in a well-lit environment, and you can take advantage of the USB-C connectivity, the 4K model is a decent option.

  • Looks like this one cannot be daisy chained? Is that right?

    • So can this be daisy or not? Anyone dasied this?

      • I just look at the connectors, only one USB C upstream with 2 HDMI ports. Dont really think it can be daisy chained without any display port available..

      • It can't, but it might be able to if it were at the end of the daisychain, with a DisplayPort to USB-C from a monitor with a DisplayPort out, since the USB-C port is basically displayport.

    • No.. To daisy chain, you need either 2 USB-C or 2 DP ports
      It has neither of them.

  • Needs 120 hz for mine

  • What is the difference between this and the DE2723DS?

  • +1

27'' QHD for $384 is seems nothing special, even with type-c requirement:
    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=384002160,25…
and the above link misses a lot of type-c, for example my M27Q has type-C input.

Theres cheaper RGB pixel grid QHD monitors with USB-C, Theres cheaper high refresh QHDs etc…

  • +1

Considering you could get the S2721DGF for about the same price a few months ago, this seems like a bad deal. Actually that monitor is $420 at the moment on the Dell store.

  • For anyone considering this vs the 4k.

I own the 4k. Super crisp, PD works well, all that jazz. Great for Mac users and IMO perfect setting is just one up from native for Mac scaling. Windows scaling is less than perfect and note the increased GPU requirement to play any games on the 4k model.

The 1440p model will require no scaling options in Windows, so no funky business/weird blurriness (app depending), and the 75hz will be nice enoguh for casual gaming.

Something that caught me out on my PC, Freesync only works with AMD GPUs, and via Type C via DP Alt mode (so Type C to DP cable) for nVidia compatible GSync/Freesync. Won't do freesync via HDMI for Nvidia.

If you want a gaming display, as mentioned above get S2721DGF instead or other options, but if you're using it predominantly for work, and require the Type C, it's not a bad deal! I think for PURE productivity/media consumption though the 4k is a better option for the price.

  • does anyone's head ache after working on this monitor? i have a decent distance b/w the monitor and my chair.
Don't have any issues when working on smaller monitors, though.
not sure if its just me.
Bought this monitor during the eofy sale n just used it 1 or twice.

  • I'm looking to pair with Dell S2721D. Mostly work with some RTS gaming. So this one or S2721DGF ? Currrently using DP plus HDMI and I don't really need USB-C but I can see that it's handy

    • +1

Get the gaming focused one if you don't need type c

  • +1

Oh it’s expired only after 3 hours typical jb setting Venus flytraps everywhere with sugary deals than we find out that it’s only salt

  • I bought one for $309 and want to get a second before they stop making them but missed out here…

Might try Amazon and see if it's really 1-2 month wait
