What the difference between this and AliExpress ones selling at 30 bucks

      • +3

        $38 :)

Those ones are previous version, this one normally is ~$70 on ali. I got one previous deal and was surprised how well it works and no issues so far. It does take a while to boot up from cold but my car turns on usb power on unlock so its fired up by the time I start the car and am ready to go.

Yup ordered from the last time it was 68. Been working great for both android and apple

I got the 5.0 from previous deal, after the negative feedback on previous models my expectations weren't high but mines been really good, was easy to setup, drain is minimal on my S21 ultra. Takes maybe 10 seconds more then the cable version to launch AA

The only thing I have an issue is I can't access the web interface to update firmware.

      • You need the app apparently if you are on android. the web link works only for iPhone.

I haven't been able to use the app tho

        • I don't believe that's correct - the web interface means that access is not OS or app dependant. See my comment below.

          • @Dinjay: Good to know. But the guide asked android user to download the autokit app and for iPhone going to the local IP address was straight forward

            • @abs898:

But the guide asked android user to download the autokit app

That's interesting - as I recall, the instructions on the package I received only said to download the android auto app. I can't find any reference to the autokit app in the online instructions either.

Did you try the autokit app on android? Is it any good?

              • @Dinjay: The link you provided is only a part of what came in the box. There's a seperate section about how to update and access settings.

I didn't try much with the app, it was in Chinese and I got busy after

      • I was able to access the web interface via my Samsung mobile after a bit of effort. There were no updates to the stock firmware when I last checked, and the stock firmware works fine. The only benefit of the web interface is that I was able to rename the bluetooth and wifi access point names to make it less obvious that it was a car play device.

        • Good idea I'll try that.

          Thanks

  • I got one from the other deal it works if you can be bothered waiting 1-2 mins extra

I got one from the other deals as well and it works great for my Mitsubishi triton. Connection is under a minute.

  • I am getting $72 with insurance unticked?

  • Got this one from the last deal, $69 if a remember right.

Works pretty well, audio quality slightly degraded vs direct usb and noticeable lag in audio playback but otherwise seems ok.

How do these work with multiple drivers? My wife and I share a car - can you select which phone to connect to?

    • It should connect okay. It connects via Bluetooth

    • Yes there is an interface as it boots with a list of devices you can tap

    • With android, you need to put the connected phone into flight mode to swap phones. With apple, I believe the interface gives you the option.

    • I find it easier to disconnect Bluetooth from one phone and connect on the other on Android

  • Can I stream youtube video on it or install app

  • Huge lag on phone calls (apple) for me. Unusable.

  • Got the one from last deal
and unfortunately Waze lags from 2 to 21 seconds about 1/4 of the times I used it :(
Got a 50% refund from seller

I got this from the earlier deal, and while it's good and very fast to connect to my Kia Seltos, when I leave the car with my phone (both on or off) it sometimes loses connection and I have to pull the cable from the dongle and reconnect it, which defeats the purpose. It happens maybe 10% of the time, which is annoying, but not a dealbreaker.

    • Yes, the dongle becomes unresponsive if I have the car/dongle powered, the phone connected, and then I take the phone out of range from the dongle. As workarounds, you could try powering off the car or disconnecting the phone (eg flight mode) or pulling out the dongle.

  • I see pride as $69.80 at checkout, any reason?

    • Same for me. Bought anyway at $69.80. If it works well, I'll be really happy.

      • Indeed, got it for $69.80, hope that it works!

  • Website borked:

    Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.lightinthebox.com/" on this server.

    Edit: Works now

  • Does this come with an app/app to work on androidOS headunits such as PX5?

  • Got one from previous deal. Connection is hit a and miss. Sometimes automatically connects and at times have to manually connect via Bluetooth.

  • Says spend $149 to use this coupon ?

    • Don’t use app, buy on there website

  • I bought this one on Amazon and its flawless!
