8gb is useless. Doesn't even fit one movie.

I'm not sure what sort of resolution you're trying to play on an iPod Touch considering it is only 960x640. Considering a typical DVDRip is 700MB, an animated 720p movie is <3GB, a live action 720p movie with lots of effects clocks in at under 7GB… You can likely fit many dvdrips, or not many 720p clips which are already bigger than the screen can display.

Admittedly, I personally have been eyeing off the 32GB capacity as I have a tendency of loading too many things onto my PMPs, but I would hardly say the 8GB capacity is unable to 'even fit one movie'.

My movie is 13.2 gb for 720p. Avatar is 23.2 gb for 1080p.

My 4 year old Archos can play them fine. As can my Note and my tablets.

Yeah I'm sure that 1080p will look great on the previously mentioned 960x640 resolution…
The device isn't made for watching 1080p movies.

You don't even get access to the full 8GB. Only 6.42GB is available.

  • Agree with all of above -8 Gb is small - but decent as a gift to your younger cousin or baby sister or something along those lines. On the other note, new iPod Touch (plus the next iPhone) is due for announced in mid September to October.
