I want to purchase a fridge for my mum who is a pensioner. Does the invoice have to have her name and address on it to get the rebate. Anyone know about this?

    • +1

I don't think so, as it could get delivered to another property and picked up etc, but the applicant will need to declare (and match details) that is for them at their residential property and need to show rates/id

    • +1

No. Nothing in the elgibility criteria or application process mentioned this. It's a declaration/trust based system. I purchased a dryer for example on behalf of my mum through my partners Good Guys commercial account. The money didn't come out of her account, and the invoice doesn't mention her name or address, but I don't anticipate it being a problem.

The main control measure they have to limit abuse is that once an invoice, residence and persons name are used, they can't be re-used. For someone to make multiple claims, they'd have to have seperate invoices, and declare seperate residences under different peoples names. If you've got family members that don't want to claim, then it'd be pretty straight forward for you to use their name and residence to claim a rebate on a second purchase, as long as that family member is happy to "delcare" that the appliance is replacing an appliance for use at their residence.

I ended up replacing my fridge with the scheme. Paid $695 for the fridge inc delivery, with a $600 rebate. Already received the rebate in my account, before the cc statement was due.

So <$100 net for a new 4 star 410ltr fridge. Not bad.

    Thanks ciab.

    • Link for which you got? Thanks Chris

      • +2

        Ok, it's kind of complicated.

So I wanted a fridge with a 5 year warranty and 700mm wide, and 4 star energy to qualify for the rebate. And cheap, because I'm a tightarse.

I picked the Chiq CTM410NW. If you register online, the warranty is 5 years.

Since I had an old fridge I wanted taken away (laundry fridge ~25 years old - it was knackered, seals need replacing, inefficient, door didn't close properly), I needed a delivery service who both delivers and unpacks the fridge, as well as takes the old one away.

Cheapest I found was Appliances Online at $761 all up. But they were out of stock until 20th October. As I was worried about the fund running out of money before then, I started ringing around and the only place that had stock locally was Harvey Norman (boo, hiss, etc).

So I got them to price match the $761 price inc delivery and removal of old fridge. They wrote the receipt up as $666 for the fridge and $95 for delivery.

Fridge was delivered the next day, but it had a small dent in the door (~1mm, maybe a screwdriver point?). Probably made at the factory as the plastic covering wasn't damaged. Anyway I could have 1) swapped it for a new one the next day or 2) got another 10% off for the dent.

So I got another 10% ($66) so the fridge after dent rebate was $695 including delivery and removal of old fridge. Less the $600 rebate, total cost to me was $95.

Estimate to repair the old fridge was $200 for new seals and labour, $150 for new door hinge and labour, plus $110 call out fee for a total of $460, and I'd still have a 25 year old, inefficient fridge.

          Thanks, you da Mahon.

  • Bought washing machine off AO after they price matched JB.

    Applied for rebate this morning.
    454xxx

Says can take 3 weeks to review. Hopefully gets processed sooner than that.

  • I've purchased a washing machine from TGG-eBay store, does anyone know if I should get the inovice from TGG or just submit the order details from eBay? Thanks

    • Tgg invoice
Although cod submit eBay one now, and wait until they contact you for official invoice

  • I also got a new dishwasher, they seem to be very popular in Brisbane, all sold out😅. I ordered from AO and my application ID is 45465x.

  • I can't seem to find the application, anyone help?

    • +1

Its under Step 4: Apply for the rebate.
Here is the direct link to the application.

  • Received my rebate after 3 days.

  • +2

Whoever fills out that poxy form deserves their rebate, what a pain in the ass. Pretty sure I had to give less information to get a mortgage or a passport.

    • +2

Yeah it was a bit like that but with scammers these days…..

  • +1

Bought a fridge on the 4th, submitted application on the 6th and approval email received yesterday.

Pretty straight forward and no issues.

    • Hmm! I bought in 4th and submitted in 5th, but haven't received an update!

      • Yeah that’s odd as they said it’s first-come-first-served so you’d think they’d be processed in order.

  • Submitted my partners application last night. Application ID's were 456xxx / 178xxx

  • Submitted my heat pump today. App ID was 456xxx/167xxx

  • Is everyone waiting to accept delivery before applying for the rebate?

    • +1

      No

    • +1

I did but only because JB had sent an order confirmation and not the actual tax invoice until the day of delivery.

      • Ah, fair enough. I'm waiting for delivery by the end of this week, just a bit scared that this offer will run out

        • +2

They’ve just announced today that they’ve doubled the funding given how popular it’s been so you should hopefully be OK.

      • Do they not send a receipt when you submit the order?

        • Nope, just an order confirmation. The receipt/invoice gets sent on the day it’s delivered or picked up.

  • Submitted a few minutes ago. App ID 456xxx/184xxx

  • Submitted Tuesday afternoon (almost a week ago), still nothing. Submitted without mygovid verified account, whether that delays anything

  • +1

FYI They just doubled it from $22mill to $44mil

    https://statements.qld.gov.au/statements/98666

Great news :) Looks like we will all be getting our refund. The important bits:

The energy efficient appliance cashback program which was originally budgeted at $22 million and estimated to benefit about 40,000 Queensland families will now be doubled.

The initial $22 million cashback offer was flooded with over 10,000 applications already received and the government is rapidly working through the approvals process.

The average cash-back provided is about $420.

    • Nice

  • I assume that if you for instance had 3 aircons put in you can't claim the up to $1000, only $400? And I saw it mention that it has to replace an old appliance, but the proof etc doesn't mention anything of that, so ignore it and lodge anyway?

    • -1

      One per household

  • Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the notice of assessment?

    • From ato? Have you submitted tax return?

      • Yes, 2 days ago, I knew it said 14 days. I'm just wondering if it will come quicker

        • +1

          Mine took about a week

  • Anyone had claims approved this week?

    • Just approved! Applied Tuesday 5th sep in afternoon

  • Does anyone know if I can apply for an Aircon rebate in addition to a fridge rebate I have already applied? I got told over the phone that a single household is only eligible for one appliance. Prior to scheme opening, I was led to believe that I could apply for one of each appliance type and receive a maximum of $1000 rebate.

    • +2

      No, it's one per household

      • +1

        Thanks!

  • Anyone had any recent approvals?

    • +1

Still waiting for mine. Uploaded last Saturday 0 progress. I've got my delivery scheduled for next week. If I don't have the money by then I will cancel my order, since I don't really need it anyways.

    • Still waiting, submitted it on 06th SEP

  • +2

Applied on the 6th, got a pdf email yesterday (Sat 17th) saying it's approved. 11 days processing time. Payment comes in 3 days.

    • I'm the 06/09 as well… I reckon they'd have a few applications for the 06-08 Sept… those dates would take into consideration delivery times etc. wonder how long it would take to get through those.
The funds being limited just makes the waiting for the application to be processed bring a thought of 'imagine my luck if it wasn't approved' haha

  • Submitted 17/09/2023

    • Approved 5/10/2023

  • Approval came through for 07/09
    178***
    452***

  • Submitted around 11:30pm 7/9 - 178***, 452***

Just got the decision letter today for approval

    • and money in the account 6pm

  • Will I be eligible for the rebate if the purchase was made using gift cards? Thanks

  • Anyone had a claim approved for non 4 star appliance? I just realised my aircon is only 3.5 star Avanti. I thought it was an 4.5star MHI Avanti plus not regular Avanti and the product code is very similar. Doh!

  • Application denied. Order cancelled…f** these guys.

    • +2

Did they give any grounds for denying your application?

      • I had to ring to find out. Turns out the lease the real estate agent sent through last time had the wrong date on it. Instead of asking for clarification they just denied and I had to reapply

        • Do you not have a s copy of the lease?

          • @leeroys_dad: Apparently not. It seems the real estate sent the old one through after we signed the new one, it's got the old rent amount on it too. I just assumed we were sent the copy we'd just signed.

No issue, still waiting to receive our washing machine anyway so technically still not eligible until that gets here. I imagine there's a massive backlog of orders now as we're well past when it was supposed to arrive

  • Yes, because appliances online didn't deliver when they said they would and the new delivery date is 6 weeks away, I technically didn't have the product. Although I paid in full that same day and the old delivery date was well within the 2 weeks that the gov needed to process my application. So totally out of my control. Anyways I have wasted to much time researching dishwashers/finding good value ones in Brisbane that I decided to cancel and give up, at least $400 saved…I have to tell myself😅.

  • +4

FYI if anyone wants to know funding availability

"Thank you for your enquiry about the Climate Smart Energy Savers Program.

On 11 September the Premier announced an additional $22 million in funding for the program. The program is still currently open for rebate applications. When the funding amount is low, a message will be added to the website outlining the program closure date."

  • +1

Finally got approved after 2 weeks for the heat pump hot water. Thanks QLD Gov haha

  • Has anyone used a jbhifi order confirmation number / PDF print of the order confirmation ? As the item I have ordered is back-ordered three weeks from now :(

  • +1

any waited for 2 week and still in progress?

    • 2.5 weeks and counting.

      • washing machine?

        • Dryer.

  • anyone think there is any point in trying to shop for a dryer to apply for the rebate? I would hate to buy it without knowing whether or not there is a chance to get the rebate.

Has anyone applied in the last few days?

    • +2

I think you'd be safe. Heard there's been about 33,000 applications so far, and the budget has been doubled to $44 million. I just put mine in 2 days ago.

  • +2

I am really starting to hate whoever designed this claims process. I'm completing this process for an elderly relative and had to drive across town 3 times now to retrieve documents, where the need isn't disclosed until you can pass to the next page. Utilities bill, bank statements etc. Now at the end they require forms of ID she does not possess Passport, Drivers license & Medicare. None of this stuff was disclosed in the scheme eligibility requirements.

    • +2

They didn't make it easy that's for sure. Had a similar issue with my Mum. She doesn't have a driver's licence either. She does have a government issued pension card and Adult ID card and neither are accepted. Which is absolutely ridiculous, especially when the amount of ID you need to get those in the first place.
I rang up about it and they said there's nothing that can be done. I can see alot of pensioners missing out on this rebate. Sad really.

      • +2

Really no work around? My god that is pathetic. How many people will have made a financial commitment they can't afford. Nothing in the eligibility says you need to have a drivers license or passport. Dobbed them in to ABC. They love hard luck stories against pensioners.

        • +1

Unfortunately no work around. I tried everything.
It's either you have exactly what they say or bad luck pretty much.

Good for you for contacting ABC.

          • +1

@pufffdragon: On the webpage it says
Assistance is available for Queenslanders who can't access the portal or submit an online application (e.g. if you require a paper form) by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68)
Did they mention a paper form?

            • @tonka: I was told it was just the GovID or the online portal. They didn't mention the paper form as an option. Glad you found it.

I wonder how difficult the paper form will be, and will it still require the same ID's as the online form?

      • +1

My elderly relative just received her payment on Friday (submitted 18-Sep), using the Medicare and Qld Adult ID/Proof of Age card.

When I rang the dept as I was helping with her online application, it was advised to enter the Adult ID card details as a Drivers license. It prompts for License State (in this case, Qld) , License Number (the Reference Number from the front of the card) and Card Number (from the back).

You may need to check to see if this is still the case.

        • I tried doing that a few times and it kept rejecting it unfortunately. I'm glad it worked for you.

          • @pufffdragon: In the past online QLD id verification, I've had it reject when I included middle name from my license. No idea if that will help here though.
