Can landlords access this across multiple properties?

  • +1

    Correct me if I'm wrong;

    LITO - $66,667 and under
    https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/income-deductions-offsets…

Nothing on combined income, assuming its $66,667 x 2 but… not sure.

  • How does one know if an air conditioner is AS4755 compliant? I'm yet to find it on any spec sheet.

  • +1

Just gotta wait for the gas stove swap program!

  • +1

I just spoke to a hot water guy about replacing my gas hot water with a heat pump. He said this rebate is only applicable if I am replacing an electric unit with something more efficient. Is that correct?

    • Someone else said the same below

    • I can't see anything starting that the hot water system must be replacing an electric system. It does have a table of energy savings when changing from electric hws to heat pump hws, but that table doesn't appear to be linked to what rebate or appliance you can get.

  • +1

I love it how the website says "Applicant eligibility criteria will be available when the program opens." so don't get too excited folks…

  • I just missed out on a $2k rebate. I replaced two HWS last month with heat pump versions. Oh well.

    • +1

Let us know in a month if the items you bought can still be purchased for the price you paid 😉

      • Reading the terms and conditions, I see they limit you to one rebate per household, so I guess I missed a $1k rebate not $2k. Still, when I ordered the heat pump HWS, I did note that NSW already had a large rebate on the same system I paid full price for.

Price jacking has already begun at Good guys and JB.
Cheapest chest freezer the other day was closer to $300. Now they are $399 onwards.

    • I need a chest freezer. It says "Refrigerators (including fridge/freezers). I assumed that meant combined fridge/freezer not standalone freezer. I actually don't have a freezer either right now but how would they know you are replacing an existing one?

  • +5

Must be an election due in QLD.

    • Nah, it's just retailers milking the taxpayers' money.

  • Very recently just replaced washing machine, dish washer and fridge. Most likely missed out on big cash back.

    • +1

It'd be interesting to do the mark-to-market on your purchase. I bet you couldn't get the deals you got once the subsidy kicks in. It's all going to the retailers' bottom line.

  • +1

Well, this sucks - thought this might be useful. Bought an existing house about 15 months ago. Got rid of two existing wall Acs and put in whole house ducted. Also bought a new fridge. About 3 months ago, Washer Drier were on last legs, so replaced both. Dishwasher works fine (and was recent replacement prior to house purchase) - only option is heat pump hot water. Oh wait, we are on natural gas, on demand hot water, and they specifically say replacing an "electric hot water system". Even though gas prices are up, and we would love a Heat Pump…

    Damn.

  • I just noticed my electric water heater from 2003 is leaking. Seems like a good time to replace it. But wow what a price difference. A Dux electric unit 315 L is about $1000. Whereas a heat pump unit is $3000 and a solar unit is $5000, and that is before installation.

Not sure its worth the upgrade for the rebate. I hear good things about the solar, but the heat pump seems to be a saver, but needs way more servicing. I serviced my water heater once in the last 20 years (leaking relief valve).

  • Does anyone know how they are going to pay the rebate?

  • does this simply mean i register for the rebate, buy a 4 star washing machine for $800, and then get ~$300 back?

are there any other steps involved?

    • +1

Step 4: save the universe from global warming

  • +1

is after midnight registrations still not open

    • should be good to buy though, it is the 4th

      • +1

looks like the registration is open, but it states that we need to possess purchased item before we submit?

  • BTW, do we have to get the installers for dishwasher, or it can be done by myself?

    • +1

"Appliances that require installation (i.e. air conditioners, solar hot water systems and heat pump hot water systems) must be installed by an appropriately licenced tradesperson."

Should be able to install it yourself if you're up for it going by that.

  • Refrigerators (or combination fridge/freezers – no stand-alone freezers)

That bit wasn't there before from what I can recall. Just thought I point that out if anyone was thinking of buying one. Not sure if that includes hybrids as well.

    • It specifically excluded stand alone freezers when I read the conditions a couple of weeks ago.

      • Must have missed it then.

  • Do you think you could make the purchase on Zip/Afterpay and be eligible to apply for the rebate?

    • +1

If the invoice shows paid in full, you should be fine.

    • +1

      No. Or Yes.
I did it today and got rejected because it's not payed in full. After the 8 weeks it takes to pay it off are over you can apply for the rebate and get rejected because the scheme will be over. It seems it's for low income/disability pensioner people with money in the bank which isn't me. Nearly a year of cancer and sickness - and I just dont have money sitting in the bank. Oh well….

      • +1

I cannot belive your application was rejected because you paid with afterpay/zip. How are they gonna treat credit cards then… :S

          • @Chippps: I think you replied to wrong comment :O

Not sure what deadlywill sent in his/her application.

I lodged my application today and checked through the form for myself. To my understanding, it seems perchase with afterpay/zip is still eligible. So i am surprised deadlywill's application was rejected.

            • @Summoner: @Summoner
Sorry, I did reply to the wrong comment. thanks for the update on your application. I'm doing mine today as well

      • +2

That can't be right. When you pay via Zip/Afterpay etc the seller still receives the money in full. It's pretty much like a credit card you just have to pay it off afterwards. I think there was some question about whether you paid it in full maybe you selected no and that's why it didn't go through?

Anyways sorry to hear that you're going through a very tough time hang in there champ wishing you all the very best.

      • Curious to know the details of what you applied for etc.

We only have $143 billion debt. This is a great deal!

NSW Premier, are you noticing this?
    VIC has solar rebates.
    QLD has Appliances Rebate.
NSW has increasing fines, council rates, tolls, rego and electricity. Wow, go NSW.

    • +6

Don't worry, in Qld we fine drivers that touch their phone $1000+, and the same for each person in a car not wearing a seatbelt. This is a good thing IMO.

Maybe more fines for stupidity = more rebates for energy efficiency.

More stupid people = less emissions.

      • I like your logic

      • Energy efficiency vs. Time efficiency (by drivers on the rush)

  • +1

can't claim until you actually have it

    • Do they ask you at the end or something? Not exactly sure how they would know anyways.

      • Proof of purchase (date required)
Proof of works undertaken (invoice with date required)

      • +1

        govt knows everything man

there's a box u tick on the last page that wont let u pass unless ticked

        • +1

Ah dang guess I'll have to wait then! 🍿

          • +1

@dins: bro, dont wait, i just rang them, that question relates to hot water pumps, weird i know. Rick from qld gov says tick that box, and get that application in

            • @Harry Krishna: Yeah thought that was kind of weird not sure why that would matter if you have already paid for it. Anyways cheers bruz delivery is set for tomorrow so I did submit the application couple of hours ago.

  • +2

Install more air-conditioners to save the planet.

    • +1

These appliances must replace another appliance

The purpose is to replace old less efficient air-cons if I am correct.

      • that's not going to reduce CO2 emissions.

        • The more efficient, the less energy needed, the less emissions. Similar to cars

  • -2

What’s the date range of the purchase eligibility? We bought a 4-star energy rating dishwasher at the start of the year.

    • +1

Only eligible if the purchase was made in or after 4th September

    • +2

      Photoshop might help.

    • You missed out. Buy another one and save

      • Buy another one for my 2nd kitchen in the same apartment? 😂

    • From today only

  • +1

They added details about the eligibility regarding low income in a household.

"If an applicant lives with a partner or spouse, the taxable income of whomever has the highest taxable income will be assessed."

    Damn.

  • +1

Wow .. time to move to People's Republic of Queensland Lol 😂

  • -3

Beware if this is the same as the NSW scheme. Last time I checked you have to buy from a few select appliance models, which are all at full RRP price which means they are more expensive using the scheme than just waiting and buying the same models when they're on sale. It's ridiculous. It only gives the appearance of getting them cheaper but actually paying more.

    • +1

Ok. Well, it's not like that.

      • +1

        That's good then.

I looked when it first started in NSW and even the energy stars were the least. So people who just trust what the government says didn't look any deeper and paid more for an appliance that used more energy than others that were cheaper even after the supposed discount.

  • QLD always has these rebates wtf

  • Just submitted my application, extremely easily, have your invoice and proof of payment ready

    • Apparently you need to confirm that you have got your hands on it as well?

  • Anyone have any good suppliers for the heat pump hot water units?

  • Any good deals deals? 4 star top load washing machines, heat pump hot water system or solar hot water system?

  • They seem to have removed the "From electric storage" wording from the Heat pump hot water system. Thats good because im changing my instant gas hot water to a new heat pump this week.

    • Which brand and installer you chose? I'l going to do the same swap soon.

      • +1

I went with the rapid X6 system. Cost just over $2,000. If your around the gold coast try Adam Taylor Plumbing - 0490772541. He was the cheapest by far

        • After rebate or before?

          • @31mop: Before the rebate. So should get an additional $800 off

            • @Wigles: Nice. I’m North Brisbane. Was about To replace my old gas storage with a wall mounted gas instantaneous for ~ $2400.

Might give this guy a ring and see if he’ll help me out.

        • How was the installation looks like? Interested installing a heat pump since my hot water system havent been replaced in the last 15 yrs.

          • @Jackgumtreeau: Installation looks good. Sorry i dont know how to post a photo. Its in the corner of my garden so no issues. Getting better water pressure and much faster hot water upstairs

            • @Wigles: Thanks man, texted him and he quoted me $2500 :(. Might still go ahead though

        • Oh, did you get the quote before this week? He quoted me $2450 last monday

          • @hero1211: Yeah he quoted me a few weeks ago. Was going to do this anyway. Maybe it was a simpler install? I already had a foundation and it was going next to the existing pipes

            • @Wigles: Don't forget if he's buying the unit the price could have increased

              • @leeroys_dad: Anyone got the approval yet?

                • +1

@hero1211: Yep, I submitted application on 6th without having received delivery. It took about a week to process and they didn't contact me at all other than with approval

  • "Make an application for a rebate as soon as you purchase your eligible appliance or, in the case of eligible hot water systems and air conditioners, once it is installed"
that's in the update email weird that it says that but then in the application it asks have you got possession of it?

    • +1

Yeah, I'm not sure about that. I made a purchase this morning and went to put in the application, only to see that. It looked like a required field (you must tick to proceed), so I stopped there. My delivery is for tomorrow, so I figure I'll just wait for it to be delivered so I can tick the boxes.

      • +1

bro, dont wait, i just rang them, that question relates to hot water pumps, weird i know. Rick from qld gov says tick that box, and get that application in

        • Nice tip, thanks mate. Done & dusted :)

        • Yeh this didn't work.

          Just got rejected

  • I'm confused on the definition of "household'. If I'm the landlord, does it mean I cannot claim this rebate on the rental property (i.e. only the tenant can make this claim)?

    • have purchased and installed an eligible appliance in their residential premises:

while they occupy the residential premises.

      • +1

So I'm guessing that’s a No then? I cannot claim it as a landlord. "Applicants must: *have purchased and installed an eligible appliance in their residential premises:
        * while the scheme is open
*while they occupy the residential premises."
