Managed to get one before expiry. Thanks.

I bought my first one for $800 over 10 years ago and it's still perfect.

    • THEN WHY ANOTHER 1?

      • For my wife. :) It also seems like a good investment.

  • +1

Cheers OP, snagged one. Hope it's not oversold.

Great deal, I think I bought the last one..

  • Can anyone recommend a good chair for massive fat dudes over 200, want to go all out on a nice present for a mate

  • +2

A few years back I snapped up a used one of these chairs for $40 from a Gumtree add for an office that was closing. Had I known what it was at the time I would have bought 3 or 4 of them.

  • +2

Here I am happy with my 99$ aldi chair

    • +2

Your wallet may be happy but in the long term will your body be happy compared to getting something ergonomically sound? It might be, everyone has different shapes and sizes and the actual amount of time spent in the chair… The saying of "don't cheap out on things that seperate you from the ground" I've found to be generally good advice in the long term though.

      • -1

that maybe.. but there is no way this chair has materials in it that cost that much.. max $200 in that chair… they sell it at the price..coz they can

        • +4

When you are buying an item, you're not just paying the cost of materials.

      • +3

USE THAT EXCESS MONEY TO GET HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE SIT/STANDING DESK N THATS ATLEAST HALF THE PICTURE SOLVED IF URE THINKING LONGTERM

        • +1

Got a Desky+ Sit Stand Desk last Black Friday, now got the Aeron to go with it. All for the WFH setup…

  • +3

RRP for the Onyx Aeron is $2655

WTF? is that for a 6 pack of chairs?

  • +2

I know this is like a Rolls Royce of office chairs but damn, even for $1250, is it really that much better and special over a good quality $300 chair? I have a $50 Aldi chair and it's actually better ergonomically than my old $300 gaming chair. I know it wouldn't hold a candle to this chair but for the money, I want it to at least feel like I've just hopped into bed or something.

    • +2

It is comfortable. But more than that, they're solid as rocks. HM offer 12 year warranty but there are people who've had theirs for decades without issue, excepting things like seat pan replacement.

If you spend meaningful amounts of time at a desk, it may be worth it. I used to buy cheapie big box office chairs and after a few years, pleather starts to peel, castors crack, and height adjustment breaks. There are very good alternatives like Steelcase Leap which are cheaper than HM, but they're still $1000+. Quality has a cost, and I'd consider this a BIFL chair.

    • Given the chair has a 12yr warranty and this deal is $1250… that's $100 a year for what is ergonomically one of the best chairs (if not the best) in the world. Most chairs in the $100-300 range need to be replaced every 2-4 years (optimistically), which would mean you've effectively spent the same amount of money.

    • That's 'cause a $300 gaming chair is probably $50 of chair and $250 marketing paid to influencers.

I've got an Aeron and Mirras. Have not come across anything else comparable that sells for significantly cheaper. Had the Aeron since 2011.

I'm sure there are other chairs that would be just as durable and comfortable, but I've not bothered looking because mine were free. Would I buy one of I didn't have a chair? Yes.

    • +1

When you have back problems like me and have tried many chairs this seems to be one that helps a lot. Not sure why but my back is happier when I sit in one for long periods

  • WAS HOW MUCH RRP ?

    • +1

Something like $2,600.00.. It's insanity! There is no way these chairs cost them more than a couple hundred bucks to make.

      • ….and how much cost out of the factory… LOL

      • You’re forgetting the price also includes costs of corporate and support staff, the initial design, marketing, go to market costs etc. They are still making approximately 33x profit after all that though I’m guessing. No product only just has straight labour and raw material costs in making it. Try making your own product at scale and then see how much all the extra ancillary costs add up

It’s like those people who eat at restaurants and say I could make this myself for half the price! Sure but you’re not paying just for the food. You’re paying for the rent, electricity, gas, salaries of the wait staff. The actual food cost is very little

  • Who the (profanity) is spending over $1000 for an office chair, let alone at RRP?! 😂

    • BIG CORPOS SUCH AS BANKING INSTITUTIONS

    • -3

Idiots. Companies charge what they can because consumers are idiots.

      • This I can’t understand.

      • +4

Have you tried not being poor?

      • +2

Consumers don't represent the target market. These go into corporate offices by the hundreds (first office I worked in bought about a thousand at once) complete with underutilized multi year support contracts.

They don't care about people on Ozbargain snapping up tiny amounts of cosmetic defect chairs.

I once spent an evening watching adults slam these into other chairs under full bodyweight- look up Aeron Hockey. None of the chairs broke.

    • It's half the cost of an iphone

      • +6

and it will be useful long after you have replaced that Original iPhone 5 or more times

      • -1

        Marketing 101.
If you price something high enough, it will give people a false sense of exclusivity.
It could even be shit on a stick. There is psychology behind why people buy luxury goods.
Want to know the irony? The majority are by people who can't actually afford it and living beyond their means.
That's why you'll find with designer brands, it's always the items that have the brand written all over it that are the cheapest.

  • Found this too late.

Have had mine forever and it is still going strong. Would have bought another.

  • +2

damn. the one time i wasn't looking at ozb.

  • +4

Bought one two years ago before the insane price hike.

10/10 recommend, used to get lower back and shoulder pain with my old chairs, after about a month of use, all the pain went away.

  • +1

Bloody hell the only morning I am not looking this happens……ouch!

Was going to get the wifey this!!!!

    • +1

      Poor waifu :(

    • Gotta setup those OzBargain search alerts!

  • I missed the deal… I had a question about farts.

    • +2

These have an inbuilt silencer and the material masks anus odour.
Boss giving you a hard time? Not to worry, it will even absorb swamp ass.

    • +1

You will hear and smell your own farts more than any other chair, with Aeron.

  • +1

Thought it was missing a dot ($12.50) 😂

    • About all it’s worth in material.

  • +1

I'm using neuechair from Secret lab. Has been really good so far (15+ months)

  • Really needed one with my stuffed back. Missed it :-/

  • -1

Ow do these compare to ones on marketplace for $350?

    • +3

No butt juice or skid marks

    • Nobody is selling a Remastered Aeron with 12 years warranty on Marketplace. I've been looking at marketplace for one for quite literally years and I haven't even seen someone selling a the classic version for under $500

  • Sounds like a lot when you can sit on a milk crate for free

  • Buga I'll take one if somome has regrets buying :D

  • They have deleted the page. How do we have a paper trail or record of what was promised?

    • +1

The receipt would have the details

      • -1

Nah. Once the page is taken down the shop gets to keep the money and no orders get delivered. I thought everyone knew that.

    • +1

I was wondering the same, went back to check if it actually included the arms or not, as the order confirmation email doesn't specify (although photo shows with arms), and now all the info on damage etc is gone..?

      • +3

Poor form deleting the page. Lacks transparency

      • +1

It does include arms, here is the spec from the invoice I received this morning:

  • Anyone's order is shipped?

    • +1

Nope, expecting a wave of cancellations today with how it went oos and people were still placing orders after.

      • Might be a few broken hearts.

    • Just received my order invoice, it has an estimated arrival date of 11/08/23 written on it at the top.

      • Congrats. I ordered pretty latr at 2:34 and am based in Brisbane. I haven't got any thing yet.

        • 2.36pm and nothing

        • Damn, that sucks. I just received a shipping confirmation email. I ordered at 2:22pm.

      • Looks like mine has, there's no August date for delivery, just the tracking number….

  • Missed this deal, really wished I got one.
    any ordered one excess? :)
    Cheers

  • -2

And here's me who picked up a remastered model size C that's 2 years old for $800 a couple days ago with the receipt….

  • Any cancellations?

  • +1

Looks like they are going to fulfill all orders. I received an order acknowledgement and an update on delivery timing.

    • I'm surprised there are no cancellations since orders kept going through after they went out of stock. They either had more stock than advertised or a few lucky people are going to get undamaged new ones.

      • I thought the same. Will see.

      • Nope, people like myself that placed orders later haven't heard from LE yet, still expecting cancellation email soon. I don't see them sending out new chairs for $1k less than rrp when they can just cancel the orders.

        • Ahh ok, just not a lot of people have chimed in then. Because the people who have commented are saying they have received invoices or order confirmations.

I too would think it's much better to cancel than to send out new chairs at significant discount, they would have to be desperate for goodwill to do that.

          • @MrMoo: Yeah I'm guessing I was one of the last ones to get my order through, went oos seconds after.

  • Still waiting for my invoice.. But I did receive the order confirmation email on Friday..

  • +1

    Received courier shipping confirmation. Woohoo.

    • Same here. Delivery for Thursday despite receiving notification of delivery on 11 August

    • When did you place the order (before or after the first oos)?

      • +1

        2:34
