Does it come with a roll cage too?? For that price it should come with a roll cage too.

    • +1

it does come fully assembled and ready to go

      • +9

It had better assemble other stuff in my house for that price.

  • +9

    Come on Powerball!

  • This is a great chair, i got the standard embody but would have love gaming version.

    • does your embody have the annoying creaky noise?

      • No I don’t really swing back on recliner that much

    • Is there any notable difference in construction or design? I thought the gaming version was just a change in colour/branding.

      • +1

No when I first read up on Logitech colab it had no spec differences other then colour and logo. You paying for colour

      • +2

The material is slightly different, people on reddit report it's slightly thicker padding. I have a regular embody, the fabric is a little slippery and the padding was thinner than I thought it'd be.

What advantages does this chair have over, say, a train which I could also afford?

    • +11

I spend 8hrs a day on the chair being a developer. It makes sense in the same way i spend 8hrs on my mattress. Both my mattress and chair is possible 1/3 of my life spent on so I do not mind spending the money of an expensive item to keep my back set.

This is not for everyone but it is for those who care about ergonomics and comfort this is an investment into you health and comfort.
I have had an Ergohuman chair before and other brands that are cheaper but by far these Embody chairs do make a bigger difference. You really need to commit and sit on it for periods of time to compare.

      • The stress on spending for this overpriced overhyped chair will surely make you sick too.

      • if you wanna get serious about ergonomics, a standing desk is the only solution to good posture and longevity

        • Yep I have Omnidesk alongside the embody

        • +1

You can't stand all day, human beings aren't horses and that's as unhealthy and potentially damaging to the body in the long-term as sitting all day. The goal is not to become set in one posture for prolonged periods of time. You need to vary your posture/biomechanics at regular intervals throughout the day, i.e. sitting, standing, walking.

    • +2

with this chair you'll never go off the rails, unlike with a train.

  • +4

Finally, a decent chair to go with my Atari 1040 STe.

  • +2

tell me again about cost of living crisis…???

    • +4

      Cost of living edge crisis.

    • +3

      Cost of Crysis

      • $42.95 But its 'remastered' which is code for took all the cool stuff out.

      • +1

can the chair run Crysis ?

  • +8

good chair, but definitely try before you buy. Not for everyone. A lot of plasticky parts for a $2,500 chair that make it feel cheap

  • +4

Chair cost more than my PC.

  • It's not a gaming chair, it's an office chair. Not goat either

    • +1

Its a collaboration with logitechs gaming division and has some fancy colours and stuff on it. Fits the bill for a gaming chair imo.

      • +1

It needs to have LED bling bling and decals

    • +1

Yeah was gonna say it looks like what I bought a few years ago. I got it 1.9k and returned it lol

  • +2

I bought one of these back in March for about the same price, no regrets. I work from home every day and also game many nights after that, I haven't had any back pain whatsoever since I got it, so being a tax deduction and an investment in my health/posture, I see it as worth it. Also I think the gaming edition is better than the standard Embody, the extra padding goes a long way.

As superdoedoe said though, not for everyone (depends on your size and height), definitely go to the showroom and try it out first.

  • Definitely go out and try any of these high end chairs before buying. My experience when I tried it out, the demo chair had a lot of issues, including the mechanism to move/extend the seat portion was stuck. When I tried to lean back and twist left and right as I see a lot of people on review videos doing (to test how flexible the back rest is), I immediately got hit with a hard part in the middle of the back rest. It wasn't for me.

  • +1

Surely there's a brand as good as this for a fraction of the price, that'd be a bargain

    • yeah just buy a regular Herman Miller is the way to go, there are plenty of second hand office furniture sellers on marketplace worth checking out, Herman Millers are made pretty well and stand up to punishment, you can usually get one a couple years old for half the retail price. This is priced exorbitantly because its a collab with Logitech and has fancy colours and stuff.

    • Ergohuman chairs seem to be well regarded here whenever a deal pops up. I have a HM Mirra 2 I picked up 2nd hand years ago. Love it but I would never pay full price for it or any HM chairs for that matter.

The cost of them wasn't as crazy pre COVID, but post they magically decided to jack everything up like 40%+… For ya know, reasons.

  • +1

I have used a bunch of office chairs, I think the Embody is really kind of mid, the most egregious issue it has is that it's not highly adjustable where it counts a great example is lumbar support, it's either in the right spot for your body or its not.

There's no way anyone should spend $2000 on one

    • The Embody is perfect for me, but I understand your sentiment. As someone who spends many hours in front of a screen for work, I'm still very happy with my one year old Embody.
I've tried a mix of chairs of various price ranges, where certain models felt good to start, but became uncomfortable (cushion losing firmness or shape). Another started falling apart over time due to bad design or materials. Some were good in certain aspects, but fail at others.
In my personal experience, you do get what you pay for in office chairs. But even then, it's still subjective as we all have different body shapes

Damn I thought SecretLabs were expensive!

How does this compare to a SecretLabs chair? I have the SL Titan Evo and it's been awesome for working at home as well as gaming sessions

    • I went with secretlabs on a deal, as much as I love it they don't really compare to herman miller chairs, although this one specifically you are paying a lot for the "gaming" description and to have Logitech logos on it. If you want a proper good ergonomic chair get a herman miller, if you want a gaming centric chair go a secretlabs chair. If you have thousands burning a hole in your bank account buy this I guess, its definitely one of those excessive purchases rather than a smart one.

Got the standard Embody from the Bad Backs deal a few years ago. Very comfortable chair for long periods. Super creaky though.

  • +4

I have one of these. I sat on hundreds of chairs from $300-$3000. There were a number of <$500 chairs that were really comfortable, highly adjustable, certified by AFDRI etc with good warranties.

Herman Miller have 3 chairs that play in this space. Embody, Mirra 2 and Aeron (3 sizes on Aeron remastered) I went in to try them, expecting to love the Aeron and I was surprised I didn't like it particularly. Embody was the best for me, Mirra was excellent too.

A word on price. I knew they were all $2k plus but I thought the Embody was the cheapest and Aeron was most expensive. It was annoying to discover the Embody was in fact the most expensive…

My thoughts on these obnoxiously prices luxury items versus the extremely comfortable office chairs (if anyone is interested)…
The 10 year warranties on the cheaper ones are likely a marketing tactic. They're relying on the idea that if their chair degrades, that most people wont bother to deal with warranty drama and inconvenience. They didn't feel terribly made, but the adjustability, while really good (especially for me not being average sized at all), did lead me to feel like there was a reasonable chance I'd be chasing a warranty issue. I like the mesh back chairs, but if they went saggy and stopped hitting my lumbar just right, it would be a warranty issue.

I hate the inefficiency and hassle of warranty claims so much, I chose the absurdly priced chair. Sometimes I'll hate the price tag, luxury, brand name tax and make the bang for buck choice too. You do you babe!

There is considerably more heft to the Herman Miller chair, even if the back is plastic. The whole point of it is flexing a bit to mould into your upper back, which it does for me well.

Remember, when making an indulgent decision… It's not how much it costs, it's how much you save. Herman Miller chairs are 20-25% almost everywhere currently, so you save more than the cheap chairs total price! Easy decision haha (obviously tongue in cheek, please don't bring your sense-of-humourless judgement :) )

Aeron especially, their mesh have pretty much been tested, there are plenty of first gen "classic" model that are being sold on second hand market no mesh issue, ofc I've seen some people with tore mesh etc, but generally speaking, they're made to last. Whether that justifies their cost or not is up to the individual, but I've had my Aeron almost 2 years now and it's holding up like new. Where as I've had another chair I've purchased in the past advertised as heavy duty 24/7 operator chairs, with steel frame and foam from a manufacturer that specialises in vehicle seats, and they would require parts to be replaced within a year or two, and I had to fork out money to re-do the foam after a few years.

      • +2

I don't think the HM chairs will have mesh issues. I was referring to the cheapies that felt great when brand new.

Aeron wasn't quite the right shape for me or I'd happily have bought it.

Side note: The place selling HM in Perth had a genuine Eames recliner. Holy crap on a cracker it was a nice place to sit. I asked the price while sitting probably in the most comfortable place of my entire life…. Just shy of $14K

I stood up fast enough to make my head spin. Not even I can justify that as a mid-life crisis purchase….

  • I personally like the Aeron over this.

  • I was waiting for this sale but all the comments about trying it first and not having a showroom nearby, giving me pause. Work use to have the steelcase chairs that I liked, might be safer going with them I guess. Decisions.

    • Same! Out of all chairs that I wanted to try (Steelcase Leap, Leap V2 & Gesture; and HM Aeron & Embody) only Embody I haven't got chance to sit on. I really wanted to test it one day before making decision to purchase.

      • +1

Definitely try it out before buying. I was tossing up Embody vs Aeron (I still haven't purchased), but after going to a showroom and trying them both, I can definitely say the Aeron feels WAY better to me. I think its really up to your body type and posture etc.

The GOATs of all gaming chairs?

The greatest of all timeS …. Not only is it the GOAT of our time line but it is also the goat of all time lines … What a chair! Your ass will cross time and space with this baby …

  • I have my Ikea markus for 6 years now and it has been great, spending like 3-5hrs daily on it. Tempting to by HM but couldn't justify the price. IMO, at this price point may be it is a diminishing returns. For 8 - 10 time difference in price, i couldn't justify spending that much.

For anyone in Melbourne, you can pick up from their warehouse in Truganina for free. This option is only possible in store or if you call them.
