  • Bought the Black one from last deal and now this one is cheaper.

Not as good as 3 for $100 but I bit

    • +9

I'm not a dentist, but I wouldn't recommend biting these.

Thought you were, that's why your avatar didn't show your face.

        • I wonder how many people will actually understand the reference to that joke. Then again, how many millenials are on OzBargain…

    • +1

I regretted not pulling the trigger on the 3x $100 cos I really didn't need 3 more batteries. I think I can justify just one more though :D

    • Is this the second best deal/pretty rare? I do really want two extra batteries.

    • What's the usual price?

      • +2

        I think it was $65.

        • Works well too. Got one that I use with cheap ebay pads

          • +1

@Slippery Fish: I like it too. I have mainly Makita, but I dont use a sander enough to justify spending the extra $150. This works really well, vibration levels are low and its well worth it even at retail price.

I use the same discs and they work fine but I recently bought some mesh style discs and they are really good.

            • @revheadgl: Does these sanding discs work with the Ozito PXC 18V 125mm Random Orbital Sander?

              https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-125mm-hook-and-loop-s…

              • @audreamer: Yes the ones you linked to should be fine.

Also, sorry, my link above was to the wrong size

                https://www.bunnings.com.au/irwin-125mm-mixed-grit-orbital-s…

They come in packs of assorted packs or packs of grits, 40, 60, 80 etc, etc.

                • @revheadgl: Thanks for your reply. In the description of the Craftright, it only says it is suitable for orbital sanders, not random orbital sander, will it work with the orbital sander?

@audreamer: Yes they will be fine. Just a word left out of the description. Just about all of these 125mm round sanders are random orbital.

                    • @revheadgl: Thank you!

                      • @audreamer: Do yourself a favour and get real discs, not junk like the above.

                        https://www.bunnings.com.au/diablo-125mm-mixed-grit-abrasive…

Yes you will pay more upfront but I guarantee those craftright ones will leave you with no hair by the time you're done sanding. Source: experience.

                        • @neo: Thank you. One thing confusing me is the reviews on Bunnings website. I have no idea why but the craftright ones have much better reviews than the irwin and diablo.

                          Any idea why?

                          craftright : 4.7 stars with 24 reviews.

                          irwin : 2 stars with 6 reviews.

diablo: 3 stars with 2 reviews.

@audreamer: Forget that mate, sometimes people just leave ratings only reviews with nothing to back it up with. Take them with a grain of salt.

With the cheaper stuff like Craftright, they will separate and fly off. You will be worse off.

What are you planning to use the sander on? Feel free to PM me for more in depth discussion if you want.

                            • @neo: Thanks mate. I am planning to use the sander remove the old paint and smooth the surface of timbers before re-painting them.

                              • @audreamer: 40 grit in this would be good for that but could be better off using paint stripper/heat gun to fasten/make the job easier.

                                • @neo: Thank you! Going to do some Googling for paint stripper/heat gun.

    • Thank you, great find!

    • Seems quite specific?

  • One ozito/bunning insider said soon they will release 2pack 4.0Ah for $69 so I better wait for it

    • +11

That $7 will be so worth it!

Never seen the black ones before. Any difference between the black and the red?

    • No, exactly the same internals… they're just the promotional version.

      • I saw the black batteries on a shelf in Frankston Bunnings last weekend but there was no obvious price tag. They might have been rearranging because normally the batteries are in the glass cabinet. I already have one black and a couple of red 4.0s as well as some 2.5s. The price on this deal puts the 4's at the 2.5 price so it's pretty darn decent.

  • What makes this so much cheaper than Ryobi's Battery?

    • +3

Can ask the same question for the tools. Personally I couldn't see much of a reason to get Ryobi 1+ range over PXC, so picked PXC for the value. I've collected a decent range of tools over the years and all perform just fine.

      • I've got both and the Ryobi range does feel a lot higher quality in the hand, but I'm sceptical about whether there's much of a performance difference for the average DIY dad.

    • +2

Ryobi is overpriced here. Just check out the pricing in the US.

      • +1

Isn't it about the same if you factor in USD conversion?

    • The better question is what makes Ryobi more expensive than Ozito? Answer is not much except a higher profit margin.

      • +1

You think Ryobi is expensive? Look at Bosch, Makita, AERG etc. Some are $200 for the same size. And no better than Ozito batteries, even if the tools are superior.

        • They're not really comparable, those are trade grade tools whereas PXC and Ryobi One+ are meant for residential DIY.

          • @jigna27: Read again. Tools may be better, batteries are not, for the same size. (some are greater capacity)

            • @bargaino: Since you mentioned Bosch I know for sure that they use A grade Samsung cells.
Do you know what brand cells are in the Ryobi packs?

              • @billadm: Mine were good, but a quick google says they have changed, and some use cheaper Chinese cells now.

  • Any idea of cell brand and capacity ?

  • Ended up buying, because the battery alone is back up to $69!
