        Lol ;P

3:29 am seems like an even better time for me. LOL

    eating my free sub now

  • Thanks OP. I just redeemed mine at Clarance St, Sydney. I was expecting it to be full of Ozbargainers but the guy didn't seem to have seen the voucher before. After reading it through and asking for ID, it was all good.

    • +1

I wasn't asked for ID - although I showed mine on the phone… they thought it had to be printed out (instructions say otherwise).

    • I was asked if I had ID, I said yes. They never checked :L

  • Sweet.. was already a member.. but signed up such a long time ago that i needed to activate email again or i never activated the first time around. Lol had the change my birthday though had it set to 1/1 lol thats no good.

Had a dead-lock error on my first attempt to activate on Firefox.

Copied and paste the URL onto another browser Google Chrome.. it seem to have gone through. My guess is you cant activate if your already signed in.

Probably get a nice sub on Monday.. My store is probably one of the hardest stores to get subs from They are closed on the weekend.

  • the subway DB has crapped itself!!

  • +6

They honoured it.. eventually at Belconnen Westfield. Treated me like a criminal first though, asked me to refresh the page, played with my phone, etc.

It's not my fault that corporate didn't bother communicating with their franchisees, nor is it my fault that the franchisees didn't speak to their staff.

Free food everywhere with this deal and the HJ's deal.

For more free subs just sign up using an email address from http://mailinator.com, activate the email address and then print the voucher.

  • Can't create an account. I get an error on the site every time.

    • Database Error (Transaction (Process ID 120) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. (uspUserSave; Proc: spUserSave; Line: 225; Number: 1205; Severity: 13; Status: 52)).

      • That's the one. I get this every time I try.

  • First we got a Database Locking error…
then we persuaded the web app to send an Activation eMail,
& duly replied to it (attempting to activate our account),
but it didn't seem to work!

    We're unable to login… :-(

    Database error (999) or similar…

  • Now to explore the lands that is Terra Australis, just like the Aboriginals once done.

They asked for ID for me, i had voucher.

I don't think Subway are used to on-line promotions, like this one…

  • My wife and I went to subway last night, the girl made our subways and let us pick out our drinks then her boss came out and said that because it wasn't lunchtime (she said subway classes lunch as 10:30am - 3:30pm) we weren't entitled to it.

She offered a 20% discount instead but when we turned that down she gave us the subs but wouldn't let us take the drinks.

But dissapointed since they don't put times on the coupon and yet you only get a 12 hour window to use it in. But you can't complain too much with a free feed.

    • +3

thanks for the tip, I will make sure I open the bottle and take a sip, in case they wont allow me to redeem at 8pm tonight, when I finish work. Voucher finishes at 12 midnight.

  • Signed up with firefox after successive fails in IE and GC, now getting the generic url to activate my email address and failing with that too. Looks like im starving tonight…

  • Finally got though the database error screen but when I click the email activation link it goes to a page : 'Oops something went wrong. The page you are looking for can't be found'

    • yep I keep getting that too

    • got that too!

      • +1

it might look like your logged in but your not .. something has screwed up if you log out and try to log in it will tell you the email hasn't registered yet. Do it again in IE and it will work.

        • Just tried registering again in IE as you suggested and it finally worked after many failed attempts, thank you!!

  • Hehe!

  • i got the database error twice but then i got the email, but now the activation page has the error "oops something went wrong the page you are looking for cant be found" anyone got the same?
    beaten by 8 mins!

  • +1

    OZBARGAINED!!!

Subway has just discovered our power first hand.

  • all good :) registered in the morning and went to subway in my area (riverwood) after gym and i got free lunch

    what is there to complain?

  • It works for existing members! Nice find :)

  • Yep their activation email doesn't work

  • -1

    I found the proper URL

Dont use the one in the email use this :

    http://www.subway.com.au/EatFreshClub/Activate/ <——— Then your username

  • +1

Free lunch…Oh yeah!!! having it now :) Thanks

  • I was able to get it to work, but the send to smartphone doesn't work so I had to find a net cafe. Finally got it after finding a net cafe to print out the vouchers. Thanks subway! neither of the two stores near me (inner city melb) seemed particularly busy.

  • +1

The activation email is working now. You might need to request a new activation email under 'Offers'. Thanks OP !

    • +1

The email I get sends just to this link http://www.subway.com.au/EatFreshClub/Activate/
and a message "opps something went wrong".

      UPDATE
Got it working - had to register with IE … chrome looked OK but the account wasn't really created somehow (showed me as logged in - but logging out I couldn't log in again).

Funny thing is the valid time period is not changed for WA time so now I have to wait 2 hours lol.

      • i've tried this more than 10times now. Still can't activate the email.

        edit: finally got it

  • "My wife" has just signed up and activated successfully. Voucher still able to be downloaded.

  • +4

    Good break from free whoppers

  • It's bad enough I was repeatedly described as a deadlock "victim" but did they have to remind me I was "chosen" for this position? Someone at Subway has it in for me…

EDIT: Despite the error they actually logged me in and I received the activation e-mail. The activation e-mail re-directed to a page with a similarly worded error the first time but then worked the second time.

  • not working

  • Is this not working for anyone else?

    • Keep trying, it took me several attempts to get it to work. Finally got it to work just now.

      • +2

The activation page is not able to be found ;(

        Want my free Subway!

  • Got my free sub and coke, considered sending voucher to my phone but these places seem to prefer a printout, redeemed with no problems.

  • PERFECT TIMING…..
as it's my Birthday today!!! (Free lunch!!!)

    • Use your birthday voucher instead ;)

      • +2

        No, use BOTH :)

  • Hi guys,
just wondering how long does it take to activate the voucher? or does it activate as soon as you press "activate"?

    • immediately

      • Thanks!

      • so basically, if you activate it now, you won't get the free lunch? because it's only valid for 12 hours and we won't reach lunch time 12 hours from now…

        • The titles "LUNCH" but there's zero time restriction.

  • Just finished my 6" sub. Thanks a lot!

    • Belmont WA Subway will only accept it if its printed out. Not having a printer easily available its not worth the time and effort for me to claim this now.

  • The staff at the Nerang Subway were a bit "difficult" about this…

My wife took down our two printed vouchers at lunchtime today (Fri). At first they said they'd only honour hers, as I was not with her. She protested that nowhere on the voucher did it say each member had to be physically present and they eventually relented. Then when she tried to order our subs, they told her the selection was limited to 6 types only, the same ones that were on that half price deal they had not so long ago. Again she protested that nothing mentioned this limitation, but apparently they got quite pig-headed about this and wouldn't budge.

They even asked to see her driver's licence as ID, bit rude really. I'm thinking there's a bit of bad blood internally about the offer. Perhaps not all the franchisees were all that keen on the idea. (or maybe they weren't told?)

    • on my electronic one it says "regular subs" which are the cheapest ones

    • +1

They always say no good deed goes unpunished ;) It does say the offer can't be transferred to another person - this means you can't get someone else to do it for you, it has to be the customer who is named on the voucher. Nice of them to do it anyway.

And it does say it's for regular subs only, but I totally agree it should be made more clear which subs are regular and which are premium.

I'm always asked for ID for the Subway Club offers and don't find it rude, how else would they know it's really me? It's only valid for the customer name on the voucher.

    • this happened to my boyfriend last year with another subway deal, he went down to grab them for us because I was studying but they wouldn't honour it after they made it. I came back with him to grab the subway and they had eaten it! lol. They said it's to prove you are the person on the voucher?

    • Same to me and my partner, went to Subway Derrimut today with our sms voucher tht links you to their side stating that how long more will the voucher valid for. SHow it to the staff and they said they only honour the printed voucher. Then went back and decided to come back during dinner time. Went back dinner time and just simply found out that the subs that are valid for the voucher are out of stocks. And we are not the only disappointed one..another couple went furious about it with the staffs.

  • any store rejected it so far?

    • +1

Yep, Subway Tuggeranong Hyperdome flat out refused to honour it, saying 'we run our own loyalty system'. When questioned why they are listed as a participating store he just shrugged and went 'not our problem, we've tried telling them we won't do this stuff'.

      • Subway in Weston Creek refused my voucher on the phone. It must be a Canberra problem.

  • Can we get any six inch subway - eg Chicken, Veggie etc?

    • I did. Chicken.

  • +1

Stellarg - it depends on the store, I grabbed a chicken Parma and my wife got a chicken bacon ranch so we definantly weren't limited by which ones we got.

Best thing that you can do is show the 'sandwich artist' the voucher before they start anything and ask which ranges are available.
If possible try to get the youngest non trainee person to deal with it because there more likely to say any, if they say you can't have that one when you come to pay then you can just say I asked before I started and they said I could get any.

  • Anyone having trouble receiving an activation email using a hotmail account?
Had to go to the livemail website and check junk folder. Emails weren't showing in my mail program.

  • Just finished my sub. BTW, I tried to pay $3 to up it footlong, but they asked for $6.95~~~~~

    • Same thing happened to me. Bought cookies instead.

  • Enjoying my Chicken Teriyaki sub, Thank OP

    • Me too…

didn't realise it was a "regular" class sub, but the "Sandwich Artist" didn't mind; voucher paid for all.

I've been "Addicted" to Subway subs for a long time…
I hope they consider -cutting- prices to incr business

I wouldn't pay the current asking price for a 6" sub,
but I might be persuaded, if price were lower, eg, on
      a "low day" each week.

  • Yum just finished my yummy 6 inch ;0)

  • Does anyone know if this offer will be taken away from my account if I don't immediately activate it? I mean… i dont plan to eat any subway the next 2 days or so and would like to keep that offer 'unactivated' until I need it..

    • +1

You've got until some time in october to use it, unless ofcourse they decide to discontinue the offer.

With all of the promotional gear in my local store (not to mention they had to pay James magnusen (sorry if I got his name wrong)) I don't see them scrapping it though.

  • -1

    yey … yey … horray

    Ok guys its working now

Go Nuts …. i mean go subway !!

  • I used my smartphone assuming there wouldn't be an issue. However, the girl working at Subway didn't actually believe me and asked for further proof. Since I don't have a printer, I told her the proof was right in front of her (on my phone). She then called her boss, who then told me he needed something to confirm the promo was real. I explained that everything was done online. Eventually he agreed. However, I was told they would have to record my address, driver's license number and phone number in order to receive the six inch sub and bottle of water.
I would like to know whether anyone else has had a similar experience or if this was even legal.

    • +2

lol that sounds pretty f***ed up…

    • +4

your lucky they didnt ask to strip search you for illegal sauce and herbs

    • +1

Fourth1, your experience does not suprise me at all, i posted about this type of issue some time ago on OzB, the problem is that many Subway staff are not aware of the Subway Club, and special deals like this, the SMS offers and even the Birthday deal can be difficult to redeem. On one occasion i was not able to redeem an SMS offer to save $2, and on another occasion a staff member did not seem to be familiar with the birthday deal.

    • I went to Belmont WA and it was the same .. said they needed the print out to claim it .. I said the unique code should be all they need and they should just write it down but that was good enough.

  • +4
  • Only valid for the next 12 hours so will have to plan before you activate.

    • is my chosen store the one that's listed under favourite stores? I'm guessing the branch name and address or locale would be printed on the coupon itself
I'm interstate atm, so can I change that store? Hopefully the one I change it to will accept the coupon

      • yes the store I had on my favourites was the one listed but it looked like there was an option to change it to a different store if you wanted to. It does show the store name and location on the voucher.

  • Still working - nice find by the OP.

Lunch is sorted for our bike ride today, much thanks. :-)

  • Thanks Op, great deal much appreciated :-)

  • still working, win

  • how come mine says oops something went wrong?

    • read the thread .. you will see ppl with the same problem and the solution.

      • thanks heaps mate it worked now, but i randomly chose a subway store does that mean i have to go to that subway store? or can the free lunch work at any subway?

  • Great! The guy at Subway, Upper Coomera said we could choose what ever we wanted, not just regular!
    2 free subs. Nice.

  • Awesome deal! Was going to go hungry today but thanks to the power of the internets I'll live.

  • Had trouble using Firefox to register but no problems with chrome. Just used the voucher at subway corner middle borough rd and Springfield rd. got a "premium" sub and diet coke, no problem. Thanks op!

  • +1

Hands up if you got a premium sub.

  • +1

How do they make money off this? I guess they lure u in, and make other purchases to make it up.

  • worked perfectly for me. just strolled down to the the new subway store on spencer street near southern cross station and showed the guys the promotional offer on my phone and they immediately said, 'no problem. what would you like?'. a good meal for the price of a stroll. would do it any time. thanks for the post mate. cheers

  • +1

Well as soon as I finished signing up and saw the 'activate' button, I hit it without thinking, and forgot about the 12 hour period where its valid and also that fact that it was 4pm… So now I can't even redeem it during lunch period of 11am-3pm haha; Do I email them and ask for an extension?

  • +17

Days like today I love Oz B.
First I dropped by HN for half price iTunes cards. Followed by visit to DSE to pick up the $7.95 12v compressor. Then it was off to Subway for free lunch for me and the mrs. Steak and bacon, OH YEAH!! No charge for the bacon either, sahweet.
    Big thanks to all OPs.

P.S. the girl at Subway was surprised at the deal. She was like 'that's crazy'. Being a regular at the store she didn't make a fuss over honoring it.

P.P.S. it's been a long day, time to crack open a $1.16 bottle of Crown Lager c/o wines direct deal the other week.
Living large my friends… Living large.

  • Did this today, but worked out bad lol. They made me a footlong after i showed the print out, got to the register person and i had to pay $6 for the other half!!!! Stupid sandwich girls cant read!!!

    • I would've told them to cut it in half
