My phone is 5 years old, my current charger works most of the time, my current charger skin have cracks and splinters.
How are these phones that does not come with a charger aim to win people like me over to buy their phone?
Burn your crotch apparently
You can chargers on eBay for like $5
Not a Heymix please.
Also a $5 will be very slow.
Have any bad reviews or stories about HeyMix? I would love to hear
@ATangk: These are great! Thank you so much
I had a look at a comment from someone in one of those links who opened one of their powerboards up and found no surge protection at all. Yikes.
I do already sadly have one of their power boards that I'll need to toss
Was mainly currently just considering getting a monitor arm from them and I don't see anything bad about those (yet).
My old reject shop $5 USB-C charge cables all charge blazing fast. Meanwhile my friends $40 "Lightning" charger from JB hi fi is slow as balls.
It's hit or miss sometimes.
Fire hazard.
With the logic that you have a major charging brick already. And for the majority they'd be right.
Personally, I have a 100w 4 port USB c charger that not only handles my phone but also my laptop and everything else that can be charged via usb c. Last I checked, no manufacturer (even laptop) gave out 100w USB C bricks so I'd have had to get my own separately regardless.
Remember just few years back, they would discourage the use of non OEM chargers? Blaming all sort of battery problems/phone fire on non OEM Chargers.
Samsung even mocked Apple for no charger, and then follow suit, then netizens mocked Samsung for that.
Now netizens are brain washed to accept it.
Asking for what was normal is not even acceptable anymore.Imagine buying a car without wheels, or steering wheels, and you have buy it separately.
Everyone has chargers coming out their behinds… no one needs another one. The alternative is your increasing our already massive landfill and recycling problem. Good sustainable move imo.
@4foxache: Maybe you didn't read my original post, my phone with my old charger and cable is 5 years old.
Now if that still hurt you, maybe I should change my phone 5 years later?
@Vater Woods: Hi dude, I'm surprised you've gotten away with just one charger over that time - I have several, across my house and one at my desk at work.
I recommend you buy one or a couple of these https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Charger-3-Port-MacBook-Galax…
It will charge everything you need, including your current and any future phones.
Imagine buying a car without wheels, or steering wheels, and you have buy it separately.
Poor analogy.
We're at the stage now where most people own or have owned many devices with USB chargers, so most people have tons of these things lying around. I've literally got a drawer full of them. So the move to reduce waste is a good one IMO.Asking for what was normal is not even acceptable anymore.
Normal with regards to waste has been normal for thousands of years. If something is quite clearly a waste of resources, then we stop wasting it.
@1st-Amendment: Just like the other guys, you're just full of yourself.
Read my original post, my phone with my charger and cable is 5 years old.
And here you are accusing people like me, who are spending conscience, E Waste Conscience of contributing to E Waste.
And here you are accusing people like me… of contributing to E Waste.
Where did I say that?
Read my original post
Maybe take some of your own medicine.
@1st-Amendment: What a funny guy.
The Pixel line didn't really engage in the charger one-upmanship that the other brands did, and this phone is limited to about 20W.
They claim 50% charge in 30 minutes, but you have to remember that charging tends to slow down towards the latter half anyway, so the full charge takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.
Not that it matters, your 5 year old charger wouldn't come close to negotiating 20W anyway. (I believe you require a PD-capable charger with PPS in order to pass 18W?)

Good start mate
Go home, Samsung, you're drunk
Guess your other account got banned.
goes to check
Yup its in the penalty box.
Time to report for ban evasion
Wtf is with this guy? Taking about the phones like they were a religious thing you should avoid at all cost. Mate, we can buy whatever we want with our money
Bitten by a Pixel phone as a child perhaps? Certainly wants to die on that very low hill for some reason…
Could be apple or Samsung fanboy mate
If you click on 'ghost account' you can see their last 50 comments is just talking shit about pixel phones.
The same copy/paste crap
The stupidity is multiplying
nah it’s the same person making multiple comments
Got'em.
All in a day's work.
and technology is accelerating it at a astronomical rate
I got this phone earlier this year - I like it overall, but would say the battery isn't all that great - keeping it on Battery Saver (regular mode, not the extreme one) helps a lot though.
Which doesn't concern me now so much as how it will be after 3 years of wear. Still seems to be a great phone for the money.
For what it's worth my pixel 4a 5g battery wise was pretty close to being as good as it was on day one when I changed over to this… So I'm expecting this to be similar in a few years time .. fingers crossed lol
Yep gotta agree …out of the box the battery is shocking but you can dial it in by changing the battery behaviour of background apps.. it's now a lot more palatable and lasts the day …
was the telstra deal $699 for the 128gb?
Yes it was. Shame too. Stock was cleared out in WA before I got to order one.
May worth waiting for the Telstra deal. And the battery is crap btw…..
This or Zenfone 9/10?
The only plus about this phone is the camera.
Have gone through 3 handsets - a buggy mess.
I just don’t understand Google’s quality control??Only comfort is that after looking online, I’m absolutely not alone :/
If it's anything like the 6a HARD PASS.
Deeply regret buying this POS phone. Worst battery ever made. Hard to believe it was brand new
Looking to upgrade already from my Pixel 6a. Bought the Pixel based on the camera reviews in 2022 but can't believe how far it is behind my 2019 P30 Pro. Its terrible in low light, and for any half decent shot the software will hold the shutter open for an age. Read that the sensor is larger in the 7 and 7 Pro. Hoping this makes the difference.
I picked up one of these.
Battery is just as bad as the reviews said, perhaps worse.I went in with a 'she'll be right it cant be that bad' attitude. I was wrong.
Brand new phone cant get a full day out of itUse Case
- I use social media for perhaps 1h a day.
- A little bit of slack for work.
- Infrequent web browsing.I will actually take some of the tips here and try to dial it in/optimise - but I shouldn't have to, right?
New phones can take up to a week of regular use to optimise the battery.
To confirm, I have had this phone for one month
Not as cheap as 50% off deal from optus. I bought a pixel 7 pro 256 gb from optus for $30pm for 24m = $720. Also got extra $20 pm for the plan bring it downs from $59 to $39pm.
