The Godfather

Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Marlon Brando in his Oscar©-winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family. Director Coppola paints a chilling portrait of the Sicilian clan's rise and near fall from power in America, masterfully balancing the story between the Corleone's family life and the ugly crime business in which they are engaged. Based on Mario Puzo's best-selling novel and featuring career-making performances by Al Pacino, James Cann and Robert Duvall, this searing and brilliant film garnered ten Academy Award nominations, and won three including Best Picture of 1972.

The Godfather: Part II

This brilliant companion piece to the original The Godfather continues the saga of two generations of successive power within the Corleone family. Coppola tells two stories in Part II: the roots and rise of a young Don Vito, played with uncanny ability by Robert De Niro, and the ascension of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don. Reassembling many of the talents who helped make The Godfather, Coppola has produced a movie of staggering magnitude and vision, and undeniably the best sequel ever made. Robert De Niro won an Oscar; the film received six Academy Awards, including Best Picture of 1974.

The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of THE GODFATHER: PART III, director/screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola brings a definitive new edit and restoration of the final film in his epic Godfather trilogy.

Was $45.37 six months ago (20th Dec 2022), definitely not a ozbarrrrgain.

Plus JB just had B1G1F, would have more sense to pair with it another box set if paying this price.

    • +12

Look how they massacred our bargain.

    • +2

Fair enough, but it's also the cheapest it's available at right now and JB is currently advertising it on sale for $90. Figured this listing would save people more if they knew it was cheaper on Amazon which is kind of the point of this site isn't it…?

      • -2

$72 is still damn expensive for four 4k discs.

        • +1

Okay? It's objectively the cheapest place to get this item right now, that's why I posted it, it's $50 off RRP and I know people that nabbed it. If you don't want to, cool, but it is a current bargain so it belongs on the site

          • -2

@Hendo16: Actually TPB is "objectively" the cheapest place to get this but please keep banging on about how something that's 59% more expensive than in recent times is still a good deal.

            • @Ham Dragon: Haha alright fair enough

            • +1

@Ham Dragon: Not the best analogy. "Objectively" anything on this site wouldn't be a bargain because there'd always be somewhere you can steal it.

If there's a cheaper price, please share it. Stealing is not a bargain.

Would be worth more if it was just the first 2

      • My Firefox only shoes a horse. What are the other emojis?

        • The assasins who shouts like a donkey

        • +1

How clever of Firefox to be able to shoe a horse.

          Is the head optional? 😄

@jackspratt: I was waiting for someone to pick up on that mistake. Well done. Have a +

    • I will take the 3rd movie off your hard for $20. Please have cash.

      • +1

I'm not sure I can balance it there, but I can try…. what else do you offer for another $20?

    50th that was ages ago

OK ill admit it. Ive never watched any of these movies before. Im assuming Im an idiot and should go watch them right away?

    • Oh thank god I'm not the only one. I think I've maybe seen the first one through once.

      • I've not seen any either. One day maybe…except now I feel like I need to resist watching them.

    • Just watch the first 2

      • I'm getting hints that you didn't like the last one.

  • A grainy 50yo movie upscaled to 4K? And the Bluray set is $58.
This is an offer I can refuse.

Does 4K BD still have User operation prohibition (UOP)?

    • +2

      The 4K restoration is fantastic.

    • Sounds like you don't understand how film or restoration works

      • Is the BD version not also restored? Sure, restore is good.
I'm just not keen on some of these interpolation and "enhancements". Default mode on most 4K TVs is awful. Just give me "Film-maker mode", dark and grainy as intended.

Buy yay! Google just told me that FFC himself (still alive) was involved in this 4K production. So awesome! Fear assuaged.

        • The regular blu ray would be a downsampled version of the 4k, with HDR stripped and (sometimes not always) a lesser audio track.

Also not sure what TV settings have to do with a disc..? Like I understand your criticism I suppose, but it seems off topic?

          • @Faro: Yeah, sorry, was just wondering what you gain with 4K on an old movie. HDR for a start :-)
I just watched Apocalypse Now, and ready for more.

    • -1

This 50yo movie was downscaled to 4K. You're welcome.

      • +2

Isn't 35mm film more or less the equivalent to 4k? Maybe 6k at a stretch?

        • Your definition is a hell of a lot better than bargaino's.
