Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including March 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. But you can ask a CSR to use the starter kit as a recharge. I think technically the service is activated on a new number and then your existing number/account is migrated across. The outcome is basically the same. Voicemail greeting needs to be recorded again.

Enjoy!

Bought only one Monday night when the cashback was $15. haven't got any update yet on delivery.

    • What did you do to get arrested?

  • +2

How many BOOST active SIMs can you have??

    • +7

35 or so, but this includes expired SIM cards. You need to message livechat and provide them with the expired numbers so they can get rid of them off your boost account ,pretty quick process if you just give them all the numbers, they deleted 25 of mine in 20 mins or so.

      • +1

        Nice 35*$3 = $105 free money!

        • +3

Good luck ordering that many! The maximum I've been able to buy is around 10 in a day, all combinations of name email, and address.
Think you could get more if you sent a few to work as well.

As a tip if you want to activate more than like 4 or 5, just don't bother using the manual activation. Jump on livechat tell them there was a issue with activation, send them the stack of simcard numbers and they can get it all sorted out 👍

          • @mrfuku: Pretty sure you can order a lot more than that.

          • +3

@mrfuku: It is possible to order more than 100 in a day, done it previously.

            • @Turd: That's unreal 🤯

            • @Turd: Awesome! So you made (19-2)x100=1700! 👏

              • @Micky14: Not as much as the dog food money i made, that was like 6k free lol

                • @Turd: U should get a OZB medal. I didn't know the dog food one. Awesome!

                  • @Micky14: That wasnt posted here for obvious reasons like many other glitches and system database website errors

        • +1

The Zip deal was more profitable 😂

          • +1

            @nightelves: I got 12 $2 coming :) wish I got more

            • @mrfuku: The Zip deal you could get $38 with 2 $2 sims. That deal I will I could have gotten more.

      • By expired do you mean credit has expired, or number has expired due to 6 months (or whatever) without a recharge?

        • +1

Expiry after the 28 days, number was still there and would have been possible to recharge.

      • Do you give them the 15 digits SIM Number or mobile number to deavtivate ?

        • Just the phone numbers to cancel/deactivate Did a few yesterday.

Agents see both Boost and Telstra services at the same time, even though as users we can only see one or the other via the respective apps. Can cause confusion if you know you have just 2 valid Boost services left, but they see any Telstra stuff too.

    • I have about 15+ in the account but some of them are expired

  • When does this promo finish?

  • +1

Another month another 3 dollas. Thanks Boost!

  • I am on existing boost plan, tried to use this starter pack for recharging, the guy over the phone told me cant do it, need to recharge the plan properly through the app, cant use this start pack for recharging anymore. (use to work like 1 month ago, the guy mentioned policy changed like a week ago).

  • +1

Gah! Always something going wrong when checking out.

    • +1

You need to change something (name, address, email, credit card) as Boost will have flagged multiple transactions against the account. I've found using a new single-use card from Zip each time gets around it.

  • Is there another provider besides Telstra that will allow us to activate without recharging, so we can switch from Boost to another provider and then back again?

    • why do you need to swich out and back again……as a matter of interest?

  • is the price back to normal? Can't see any sim costing only 9$.

    • +1

Did you apply code BOOST9 at checkout?

      • +1

My bad, I'm dumb, thought it was a cash rewards code or something. Thanks!

  • If you can't beat the huge $3 earn by at least X 4 with the time messing around .
I'd give up the game .

  • ok gonna buy this regardless, but have 2 questions.

    1. I was a boost member in March. am i considered a new member?

    2. Can you still turn off auto renew once subscribed and just buy load when you need it?

    • 1) New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
      2) Can turn off auto renew when you activate

  • Ive tried probably two dozen times to purchase a single sim card, and always get the dreaded "Something went wrong" page
I've tried multiple browsers (Firefox, Edge, Chrome), both with and without VPN, multiple different email addresses and multiple different credit cards and still no luck
I contacted Boost and they were most unhelpful - their advice was "can you use a friend's credit card to make the purchase"
Not sure what else I can try?

    • +1

Try with a different email address.

      • That seems to have done the trick!
What's strange is that it's the same email address I was trying earlier 🤷

        • I suspect it has something to do with having a Telstra account with the same email address.

  • thanks, just bought one.
Question, if I want to buy 365 day prepaid in the future, will I need to port out from Boost first or not?

    • +1

If you call them, normally they let you just transfer your number over without having to port out and back in.

  • More numbers for scammers to call us from

  • 45GB $30 sim seems to be back to $30 now

    • I just tried and still $9 with code BOOST9

      • Yep. Bought one in fact.

    • Did you enter the coupon code at checkout?

      • Yep im a noob - using code worked! Thanks guys

  • Sooo I may have gone overboard and ordered 18 with different credit cards etc and now I'm paranoid. Are the agents on live chat going to even let me activate 18? Anybody got experienfe with this?

  • -1

Offer worked for me, just bought 20 plans.

    • Are you concerned about any activation issues??

  • How did you get 18…I can't even get my second in 90 days.

    • +1

You need to change something (name, address, email, credit card) as Boost will have flagged multiple transactions against the account. I've found using a new single-use card from Zip each time gets around it the easiest.

      • +1

I just used the same card, however switched up my name, address & email.

      • Well… Turns out the issue was the coles prepaid mastercard i was using for payment had been hacked and balance used up…urgghhhh..

        Bum…

        • Yeah I've just completely stopped even considering buying those cards

          • @wavesgreen: Eye opener.. Called the number on the back. Couldnt connect, just disconnected. Tried an hr later. Got the worst static line ever to an Indian call centre. Couldnt work out for the life of me what he was asking. Ended up sending a complaint email to Herritage bank. They called me back pretty quick. Apparently could take over 100 days to get a replacement card.
Thinking of just doing a chargeback through my credit card company i bought them with.

  • Are these sim deliveries tracked?

    • -1

No, none of mine ever were. Best I ever get was an email indicating that it has been shipped.

    • +1

Yeah they send them via Australia Post 'Domestic letter with tracking' prepaid envelope, but they don't always send you a dispatch email. You can contact customer service and ask for the tracking number if you're concerned.

      • no wonder, three of my orders NEVER receive any tracking number or dispatch email

not sure if I want to waste more time with their customer service…. finger crossed

        • +1

I keep a log of all my orders (what email address used, what credit card, what shipping address, etc) and apart from my very first order, I've found that I only ever get a dispatch email if I use the same email address as my Boost/TelstraID account on the specific order.

If I use a different email address I'll get an order confirmation but I won't get a dispatch email.

          • @wavesgreen: I have never been sent one despite using the same email address on both accounts.

The mystery continues as no chat agent has been able to solve it when I ask them while requesting for the tracking numbers manually.

            Sample size: Hundreds of orders

    • -1

Wonder what gobshite negged me for stating "my" experience with over 100 plus orders i.e. I have never received tracking on a single one. Good one "Gobshite" please explain the reason for the neg (as a matter of pure interest). :-)

  • +1

Makes you wonder what is the end game here.

I guess they need a million more "active users" ..

But when you factor in they basically express post the sims out…some significant losses here.

Guessing this is the end of Boost.

  • expires 28th may, does it mean today is the last day?

    • This deal has expired. Boost are only offering $9 cashback on the $45 Sim now.
