The original Miyoo Mini was a very popular handheld emulation game console and now Miyoo's latest edition is on sale in multiple colours. This one is larger than the original with a larger/better screen, better ergonomics making it easier to grip for longer periods and a slightly larger battery.

The internals remain the same so it's suitable for playing games on the classic platforms like NES, SNES, Mega Drive, NEOGEO, Gameboy, as well as anything up to the PS1. Anything above like the PSP and Dreamcast will struggle. With the 4:3 screen ratio this is perfect for games on the Gameboy Advance.

Other features include a Linux OS with RetroArch, OnionOS support, 3.5" IPS 640x480 display, 3000mAh removable battery with 4-5 hours of playtime, vibration motor, speakers, USB-C for charging, MicroSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. For controls there's a dpad, ABXY buttons, select/start and R1/R2/L1/2 shoulder buttons.

For reviews I recommend checking out ETA Prime's video which shows game performance on different platforms.

                      • @Clear: I'm having the same issue on my mobile so I'll try get on a computer later and see if that works. How long is this sale going for? Thanks x

  • I got the RG35XX from the recent sale (thanks Clear). My hands cramp up after about 1 hour of playing due to the small awkward size. Cant imagine playing on the MM+ given it is event smaller in form factor.

  • Have a switch, steamdeck, pi, 15 Android devices, gaming PC, PS5, Xbox. Absolutely did not need this, purchased anyway. Thanks OP !!

  • Great Price, Mine worked out to about $105 when ordered direct at launch, at this price it is a no brainer.

  • Couldn't resist. Suggestions for first games?

Google tiny best rom set GO!

      Super mario
      Tetris
      Pokemon

      Metrovanias

Stayin' on the sunny side as per ozb rules:

Apotris (recently dmca'd by Tetris company, support him)

Onion UI's own port repository got lots

      https://itch.io/games/tag-nes-rom

Pico-8 stuff. Btw, Onion supports save states for pico. Try beating Just One Boss without it lol

Imo "Stock" set is awful and "Tiny" etc are overwhelming. Eventually you'll want to curate your own set…

      • Damn, didn’t realise how much customisation this allowed. A whole new world. Thanks!

  • "With the 4:3 screen ratio this is perfect for games on the Gameboy Advance."

This seems like an odd comment in the description. The GBA had a 3:2 aspect ratio. 4:3 isn't terrible for GBA, but it's not perfect

    • I've got a gba, mm, and mmp here.

Not pixel perfect, but once overlay with int scaling enabled it looks great. (Nintendo) logo on top, GAME BOY Advance at the bottom. Very similar to the real deal without the odd skewed sides.

      *Onion Tip:

      MENU+Start to cycle scaling

MENU+Select to open retroarch menu > On screen overlay > Overl. preset > GBA_3x_Pixel etc.

To save settings again, quick menu > Overrides > Save Content Dir. Overrides.

It's all in the FAQ on github

I agree with everything except enabling the Nintendo and Gameboy advance logos, I find those far too distracting and immediately disabled. If it was an Oled it could work, but being an LCD it's just jarring.

  • Been trying to buy one of these from the Miyoo store on AliExpress for a while now. Thanks OP!

  • Curios as to why these are more popular then a OG ds with a r4 or 2ds with certain mods done to it. Our 4 year old loves the OG ds atm, when he gets sick of a game at rest time he just resets and tries another one and he can hold the original consoles well and they certainly hold up to being bashed around.

    • A lot more compact, and no superfluous second screen for non ds games.

  • I have picked one up, I'm so excited for it to arrive. It's been awhile since I've been this excited for a bit of tech. Thanks OP!

    • Mine is apparently in Sydney now. Just have to wait for it to ship north!

Hello, I ordered last Wednesday, Just wondering when these will ship - I didn't see any mention of any kind of delay when I ordered?

PSA: Onion V4.2.0-beta-dev aka. beta 4 got issues. Stock is not an option, so I suggest getting beta 3 until everything's sorted.

(Don't install V4.1.4, it's for the original miyoo mini v1/v2/non plus)

That said, I bought another plus from the official store last Friday. They had 150 grey and 50 purple. Paid $113 despite this deal which had 2k clicks already. Fomo kicked in …. (handing in my ozb badge), but my purchase was shipped straight away on Monday. Miyoo plus stock seems stable now.

Hope y'all get yours quickly as well

    • Stock is not an option

Stock that it came with? Why? And what PSA means?

      • I meant the stock os. It'll let you play games, but it's very basic. Installing onion-os on a good sd card is strongly recommended. Here it is in detail.

You're right. The stock sd and reader are flimsy. Guaranteed to fail. Just backup and put aside.

Public Service Announcement, since installing onion is almost compulsory (or DotUI) …

        • [Fixed] Im following the guide, unzipped latest OnionOS release to new SDcard (fat32, MBR), turn it on and no OS installation is happening, just old UI with no games. What did I do wrong, please? Firmware shows as Version: 202303262339 and SD as 128GB (it sees it) in Device Info.
Stupid Mac did not copy hidden ".tmp_update" over to SD.

          • @nuker: Good on ya. If you're on mac, the latest firmware addressed the "._" issue. Instructions is here. However, do take extra care upgrading firmwares. I softbricked mine cos bloody sugarsync kept giving me an incomplete file. The right one is
            miyoo354_fw.img 15.4 MiB (md5sum: bcd4e4029b5fd96fd4a68c2c454465ef)

Just in case it happens to anyone… put the correct firmware file (.img) in the sd card root, then hold the menu button while plugging in the charger … that'll force it. Just wait a bit even tho the screen is blank! Bloody thing nearly gave me a heart attack.

            • @Fullhalter: PS. Don't muck around with the actual firmware unless really necessary. 0326 onward are good enough. i.e. 0505 is the latest but broke easylogotweak (boot logo changer). Best to ask around r/MiyooMini first…

  • Got it! I advise to backup the SD card first, as it looks cheap.
Is there a search function? Where do I find Super Mario?

    • +2

better off starting fresh from Tiny Best Rom Set instead of the roms from included SD card.

typically has duplicates, and wrong regions

        • +1

          yep

    • Lucky! I'm still waiting 😅. Last update I got was that it was leaving Sydney, and that was on Tuesday. I was hoping to get it here for the weekend, but oh well.

  • Is this deal still active? Was trying to use the code but it's saying it's invalid.
